How do I transfer video on a flash drive to my ipad 3

How do I transfer video from a flash drive into my I-pad 3.

Not easily.
First, I've had a 50/50 success rate on flash drives working. most do not.
Second, the camera connection kit and iPad will ONLY see video files that follow a very strict naming convention. They must be in a folder named DCIM, and all file names must be 8 characters exactly. For example, SAN_2345 or the like. And the iPad will only see video files that it can play. There's a list in the manual.
If you get a flash drive to work (and the only way to know if it works is to put a DCIM folder on there and see if the iPad sees it) you'll be able to open the folder, but no names will show. So you have to guess which video is which unless there happens to be a poster frame that shows you which is which. (I have several video files and I have to guess which is which)
You cannot watch videos off the flash drive, you have to import them onto the ipad, watch then delete, so you need to make sure you have enough room to import your file.
So it can work, but it is tricky. If you're going to do it you may want to consider using SD cards. That removes the obstacle of the flash drive not working since almost every SD card works (except for SDXC).

How do I transfer data from a flash drive to my iPad 2? Do I have to have an adapter or special device to do this?

You can use the camera connection kit to plug in a flash drive. But there are a lot of 'buts'.
First, most flash drives will trigger a 'device requires too much power' warning and will not work. (I had a 50/50 success rate)
Second, the iPad will only import properly named photo and video files. You cannot transfer music or documents.
Third, there is zero support for the export of files.
You can look into wireless flash drives. The Kingston WiDrive is just one example. They generate a localized wifi hotspot that you can connect your iPad to and then use an app to transfer files.

How can I transfer video taken with my iPhone to my iPad WITHOUT using a computer or iTunes? I'm going to Europe for a month and want to use my iPhone to take pics and video, then come back to the hotel room and use my iPad to edit/store each evening. I don't want to use my iPad to take the video...too large/bulky. And I WON'T have a computer with me...I purchased the iPad to take with me so I could use the RDC to my home computer and avoid taking my computer at all. Is this possible?

here is a cheaper solution than camera kit and a lot easier if you have WIFI available.
I use the PhotoSync APP (I think its a $1.99) will transfer videos and photos over WIFI to any other IOS device or even PC/MAC. Great app since I like doing video and photos on my IPHONE and transfer to IPAD2 without synching through computer or doing cloud based storage.
You can even send photos/videos from your MAC/PC to your IOS devices that way too. Makes it so much easier.

Another way. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

  • How do I transfer photos from one flash drive to another?

I downloaded  original photos to several flash drives before I had enhanced them. I realized I needed to do that before I gave them to my family.
In Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 I fixed the photos and now I want to put them on the same flash drives without distroying the originals. I would appreciate knowing how to transfer the new photos to the flash drives without replacing the originals.

You should really have left them in My Pictures. If you use Explorer to drag files you corrupt the file paths in Organizer and end up with missing files.
It would be best to get the originals from your family and put them and the edits back into My Pictures.
You can then make duplicates for your family using my method above.
Edit - if dragging directly to the flash drive made duplicates then you should still have all the photos in My Pictures

Are you using OSX 10.9 or 10.8? If you are using 10.9 as a beta tester you should not be posting here but in the Apple Seed forums.
iBooks will be part the new 10.9 but is not part of the OSX system currently.

Great.  Now, you should see a white icon lyke dis:
If you see that, click on the finder icon in the dock.  Select the item(s) you want to move to the flash drive.  while your finger is pressed down, slide the iterm(s) over.  When you they get close, you will see a white plus sign inside a green box .  Remove your fingers from the trackpad.  The item is now on your flash drive.  Repeat as necessary.

how can I transfer videos that I've made at home, and that I converted so that I could play them on my ipod, which are now in my Itunes library, to my friend's ipod, without erasing all the stuff on his ipod?

Email the files to the friend to import to their iTunes library.
Copy the files to a flash drive to be imported to the iTunes library on their computer.
Burn the files to a CD/DVD.
Any of a variety of options that in no way involve connecting your friends iPod to your computer.

  • How can i transfer videos without losing the sound to my iPhone 3G?

    Hi
I have bought my iPhone 3G yesterday. I have found out how to transfer music from iTunes however i can't transfer videos. I'm selecting the videos i want to transfer on the videos tab after i chose my iphone from the side menu and pressing apply. iTunes says that its syncing my iphone but it doesnt transfer the videos.
Lately i have found out a function on the advanced menu for movies as "create iphone or ipod version". When i used that it transfered that video to my iPhone however the sound was completely lost besides that action takes too much time(around 10 mins for a 3 min video and i have a pretty strong computer).
How can i transfer videos without losing the sound to my iPhone 3G?

One thing I'd recommend is that you make sure the video/audio you're trying to transfer falls within the guidelines listed in the 'Video' section here:
    http://www.apple.com/iphone/specs.html
What's most likely happening is that the file is not converted as such so when you try to transfer it, it's wanting to convert it but is unable to for any number of reasons.
There's software out there that might make this easier for you but I can't recommend anything specifically.
