How do i TRASH dashboard and anything related to it

ok, so i see lots of advice on how to disable or turn dashboard off... but i want to get RID OF IT! at first i thought it would be great! as a writer i could just pop open the dictionary widget and type in my word...HAHA! it takes longer to open that if i go to my browser and hit dictionary.com! Plus, it has a terrible database! now i HATE! it. so i don't want to just disable it, i want to THROW IT IN THE TRASH with all it's stupid settings and preferences! anyone know how to do that?

You do not need an uninstaller. Just search for any files with the application name in them. Mostly all you will find are .plist files which will have names like "com.whatever.application name.plist" or some such. You can delete any you find. Other than that, very few apps leave loose files on your system since most Mac apps are "self contained". This ain't windoze.....

to disable spotlight, open the terminal and type "sudo mdutil -a -i off" without the quotes. ( You will be prompted to enter your admin password.)
to disable dashboard:

How can I multi-find and replace relative paths to external topics?

I am using RH7 and publishing to a company server share. External topics are saved on the same server share and linked on my local drive to create a relative link. How can I do a multi-find and replace on the relative links to change the path to the external docs? The paths do not show up in the Topics List because they are relative, not absolute. Although changing all of the many paths manually would be job security, I would like an easier fix. Thanks for any help.

Likely your best bet at this point is to use a good Multi-File Find and Replace utility.
While RoboHelp has one included, it often fails. So we typically recommend something like FAR (Find And Replace) or BKReplace.

How can I Trash Mail and Reinstall it?

have a POP account and have too many problems to try to fix them, so can anyone tell me how to do delete and reinstall?

Had to do something similar with Safari. I used AppZapper to delete it and then reinstalled it by using the optional install.mpkg ( I don't have the Leopard DVD with me so I don't remember exactly what it's called) and just installed Safari. Should work with Mail.

When I sync, I get a warning message that some files couldn't be downloaded because of an error. How do I trash them and redownload. These are purchased items and I don't want to lose them

When I sync my ipod, I get an error message telling me some files couldn't be synced. I think the files must be damaged somehow and I'd like to redownload them. When I go into purchased at the itunes store, I can't reload them because it says they're already downloaded. I tried deleting them from the playlist, but that doesn't solve it because they still come up as downloaded.

Control click does not work - no option to find files. I have no idea what to do. When I look at the usage of the external drive the space is being used, but I cannot find the files. I am going to try MacKeeper's Undelete and see if I can make any progress with it.

It sounds like you’re in a bit of a frustrating situation there because you have a MacBook that isn’t responding and only shows the Dashboard, you want to know how to force it to shut down.
If you haven’t already, try using one of the options below to exit Dashboard normally.

Leaving Dashboard
When you're ready to exit dashboard, do any of the following:
Press the escape (Esc) key.
Use Mission Control or Application Switcher to switch to another application.
Swipe from right to left using two fingers on your trackpad.
If that doesn’t do it, this article provides details about forcing your Mac to restart or shut down.
OS X Yosemite: Log out, sleep, restart, and shut down
If the pointer freezes on the screen or your Mac becomes unresponsive, press Control-Command (⌘)-Power button to force a restart.
Important: If you force a restart, you may lose unsaved changes in open documents.
If you don’t want the app windows you currently have open to reopen when you restart your Mac and sign in, deselect “Reopen windows when logging back in.”

How to fix yahoo mail going to trash folder and not inbox?

Incoming email to my yahoo account (through Rogers) ends up in my trash folder and not my inbox.
I do not have the same problem with my gmail account and email addressed there goes to the gmail inbox.

I've deleted all future appointments from the Hotmail calendar.
I've left the iPad overnight "thinking" about removing Calendar from iCloud and gave up this morning.

Somehow my iTunes app has been put into the trash. How can I get this and all of the stuff that was in it back to my Application folder? I try to drag it out of trash, but it won't work.

To delete photos from your device
In iTunes, select the device icon in the Devices list on the left. Click the Photos tab in the resulting window.
Choose "Sync photos from."
On a Mac, choose iPhoto or Aperture from the pop-up menu.
On a Windows PC, choose Photoshop Album or Photoshop Elements from the pop-up menu.
Choose "Selected albums" and deselect the albums or collections you want to delete.
Click Apply.

HT201250 I just did my first back up with TM and My Passport for Mac, when done adn went into the box ....options...to try and fidn how to delete trash. Then I went back to see if it was erady to do its next scheduled back up and it says there is an error

I just did my initial back up to hard drive (My Passport for Mac 1TB) with TIme Machine on Snow Leopard. I had wanted to omit trash but couldn't find it. All went great and finished in an hour. Then said would restart at 6pm. I went into options about 20 minutes before (when it was done initially) to try and find how to delete trash from being backed up next time.. THis messed things up and now it doesn't recognize the disk and won't let me manually back up...says error. What do I do?
