How do I trim 3/10th of a sec off of a clip?

In i6, I'm cutting a quick paced conversation together between two animated characters. A number of the back and forth responses are "no- yep- umm-, etc" which, for a tight edit, the clips need to be trimmed by small increments. However, since each individual clip is so small, I can't get the clipping tool to stop where I want. It just goes right past it. Hard to even get it to activate on some. Any work arounds for finessing these tiny clips? Any help would be graetly appreciated.

The easyest way (in my opinion) is using the arrow keys on the keyboard to move a frame forward or back. When you are at the correct position, select Command-T to split at playhead. Then you discard one of the clips.

To trim the recording click the Trim Memo button. You will see a blue progress bar with a yellow handle on the left and on the right. Drag the handles to set the start and end of the clip. Press the play button to confirm it sounds ok then press the large Trim Voice Memo to finalize your cut.

There are several ways to do this.
First go to iMovie/Preferences and make sure the Advanced Tools are enabled.
The simplest way would be to select the frames of video in the Event that contain your audio and drag to the project. Drop it on the approximate frame (in the project) where you want it to start. A pop-up menu will appear: choose Audio Only.

how do you trim a guitar track? I have recorded a guitar track. at the end of the track it has a hum I want to remove...not the whole track just the very end.

While this is fine for audio regions, whith software instruments I prefer literally cutting off the unwanted segment by splitting the track and deleting the last part as opposed to just shortening the track, though it's a little more work.
The reason for this: If you join two adjacent regions that have been shortened, all of a sudden the trimmed-off notes of region one reappear in the combined region. They weren't really gone, they just didn't play, and now they're back, causing a cacophonic result. Annoying bug (or feature) of GB. If you cut them off and delete them, they're gone forever. (Warning: You also can't bring them back by extending the truncated region.)

After I create say a word document, file it on my desktop and then shut down my machine. The next time I open up the MacBook the file icon has been removed from the desktop. I can still retrieve the file in a folder labeled with the month I created it. But why has the OS removed it from the desktop and how can I stop it happening?
