How do i trim a voice over recording in imovie?

I am making an imovie with the most recent updated imovie software. I have recorded about 30 minutes of voice over...now I need to trim it as there are bloopers and mistakes...it is possible to edit that recorded voice over or no? I can't seem to find a way to do it.HELP, PLEASE!!!

This worked in the previous version, and I believe it still works, but I have not tested.
Select the Voiceover track. Move the playhead to where you want to split the track and type command-shift-s.
Move to the other trim point and type command-shift-s. Now you can delete the portion you wanted to trim.

  • How do I get a voice over from garage band into Final cut x?

How do I get a voice over from garage band into Final cut x?  Sorry if this is a newbie question.  I have been editing in final Cut express on my MacBook Pro and just jumped to a new iMac and Final Cut ProX.  Trying to record my own voice on a Yeti mic and import it as narration for a video.  Thought I could simply import media but X has it greyed out.

Sharing with iTunes is OK, but it is likely to produce a file in MP3 or AAC, which can cause problems. You can create an AIFF version of an MP3 file in iTunes and use that.
To create an AIFF version, go to iTunes/Preferences and click the General Tab. Click the Import Settings button. Choose Import Using: AIFF Encoder. Then choose your track, and click FILE/CREATE AIFF Version. Use this in FCPX. Be sure to go back into iTunes Preferences and set the import options back to where you had it, so the next time you rip an CD it does not make an AIFF.

How do I trim a voice message that has been saved as a file in the Mac's itunes music folder called voice memos?

    Is this what you're doing:
To trim the recording click the Trim Memo button. You will see a blue progress bar with a yellow handle on the left and on the right. Drag the handles to set the start and end of the clip. Press the play button to confirm it sounds ok then press the large Trim Voice Memo to finalize your cut.

On the voicemail screen, click Greeting at the top left and record a new one. Your carrier will also have a special number you can call from the phone (usually includes a hash or star) to get to and change voicemail options.

  • New voice-over recording workflow?

I just dug up what's new in the update I just installed, and I'm not seeing the expected "Voice-over Record button" after following the described steps. Am I missing something?
Premiere Pro says it's up to date, and I was able to expore the other new features without any problems. CC Version 7.2.0 (46)

I made a presentation in Keynote 4.0.3 with soundtrack and voice-over recording but when I export to Quick Time movie I can only hear the soundtrack. (The include slideshow recording box was checked). Can anyone help me?

    Hello Ian:
    Welcome to discussions!
is your exernal drive formatted Mac OS X Extended? it should be.
Try using Apple's Disk Utility to format the drive. However, when you reformat you will lose all files on the external drive in the process.

How about a switch you throw to turn on a recording light in the booth? I think less tech here is likely better.

  • How Do I Add A Pre-recorded Voice Over to an iMovie Project?

I have an audio file with the voice over I want to add to my movie project (which has an insturmental music track I want to duck during the voice over). How can I add this pre-recorded voice over track to my project?

You can drag in the voiceover file and drop it on top of the clip where you want it to start. It does not have to be perfectly placed, because you can fine tune it later by dragging.
I would suggest putting your voiceover file in iTunes and dragging in from the music browser, but it also works to drag in from the Finder. If you drag in from the Finder, you must take care not to move it later, or the iMovie Project will not be able to find it.

  • FCPX has no audio tracks so how to add effects on voice over?

I imported my voice over track. Then, I proceeded to chop it up and move it to the appropiate points in the time line. However, now there are no "tracks" how can I EQ the whole thing in one go? All the individual choped up clips moved up and down willy-nilly into different empty areas of the time line.
    Cheers
    Waddo

I do VO work all the time, daily.  Record it, make that a Connected Timeline (if it is not in the Primary Timeline already), then chop it up as you normally do, and then align it with the audio first.  Then make it all a Compound Clip.  Apply the EQ or whatever sweetening you need to the Compound Clip.
Here are articles about doing VO with FCPX:

  • IMac-Questions for professional voice over recording

I'm about to purchase an iMac.Hi-I've used a PC for years recording VOs.Now I'm considering an iMac (3.20GHz Intel Core i3,4GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x2GB,1TB or 2TB Serial ATA Drive,ATI Radeon HD 5670 512MB GDDR3 SDRAM) Anyone willing to share some ideas and answer some questions I have about the eventual switch? Since I enjoy things very simple, until now I've achieved great results with a Sennheiser MD421-II mic,DBX 286A preamp/processor and Audacity on my PC. I'm a bit technically challenged when it comes down to knowing the inner workings of computers and Macs but I was told that I might need to look at the sound card that comes with the above iMac and consider upgrading it? Is this true? Is the graphics card adequate? Are the processor,Ram,hard drive adequately sized for VOs? Also...with the PC,my signal chain (if you want to even call it that: ) is mic, preamp, processor to computer via miniplug. Can I use the same with the iMac or do I need extra equipment? Thanks! So many questions....Thanks for any help or suggestions.

That computer will do everything you want and more. I have the same thing.
I haven't used the input on it yet, but the output is great minus 1 fault and that is the ground seems weak. I have two rokit8 monitors hooked up and was getting horrible ground loop noise, didn't happen in my old imac, just the new one.
Now in terms of software you are gonna be in recorders heaven. I have both garageband and logic pro 9 on mine. Garageband can be used for simple recordings, or fairly in depth recordings depending on the project and how good you become with GB. Logic pro is about as professional as you can get, a lot of the songs you hear on the radio are recorded using logic.
Now with the hardware it depends on your taste, I personally have never heard better sound from a computer then the setup I have now. And I am pretty sure I could make professional voice overs using the built in mic . But the quality of the sound card in question depends on you.
I would bet you would be content with the sound card they come with.

  • Voice over Recording

I want to record voice-overs (VO) in soundbooth. I have watched the Prem Pro and Soundbooth tutorial at Lyndia .com. I can successfully record a VO recording, but nowhere in the tutorial do they tell you how to import the prem pr timeline. All tutorials already had timelines imported. I have an edited timeline that I want to import into soundbooth, so I can watch the timeline while I record my VO. Do I have to somehow convert the timeline to a different format than the timeline currently is? My sndbth workspace is set up to show the video window. How do I import the timeline or can I record VO directly to the PremPro timeline? Thank you for any help, as I am relatively new to these programs. I have version CS4. Jean Matusik

Thanks for the info Jarrod. I successfully recorded a VO in PP CS4 a couple of days ago. Then, I processed the VO file in the timeline. Thanks though. Jean Matusik

  • How do I transfer a voice-over from one project to another?

I cannot COPY the voice-over from Project #1 and PASTE it onto Project #2.
I've got to believe this is possible without re-recording the voice-over.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi
    No and Yes
There is no elegant solution - as it should be
But in Project A - Export out as QuickTime .aiff (Share to QuickTime/Expert mode/Audio only)
    Import it into Project B
Many elaborate sceens are made by Export / Import method. But still it use to work.
