How do I troubleshoot photo booth

Photo Booth encountered an error when trying to save your photos. Your photos cannot be saved at this time.
This is the message I get when I try to take a picture. Please help.

Would you like me to ask the hosts to re-position this question?   iMac or Mavericks would probably be a better option than the mouse forums.

  • How do I delete Photo Booth

How do I delete the Photobooth app in Ipad Air?
Its a "built-in" app ... but so is Garage Band, and Ive deleted it okay.
    Thanks

You did not read the fine print at the bottom of the page so here it is. It is not a preinstalled app. You cannot delete Photo Booth. I'm sorry.
GarageBand is free on the App Store for all iOS 7 compatible devices; additional GarageBand instruments and sounds are available with an in-app purchase. iPhoto, iMovie, Pages, Numbers and Keynote are free on the App Store for qualifying iOS 7 compatible devices activated on or after September 1, 2013. See www.apple.ca/ios/whats-new/ for iOS 7 compatible devices. Downloading apps requires an Apple ID.

  • How do I delete photo booth from my macbook pro?

I'm deleting some unneeded applications from my new Macbook Pro.  I have been successful with most and all of them that are not required as part of the OS system.  However, there are other apps that are more difficult to remove as I was able to go into Utilities and Terminal and type in some other specific applications that I wanted to remove (like Stickies, Chess, etc.).  However, one I am having trouble deleting is Photo Booth.  I also want to disable the webcam so I cannot even activate it by mistake.  Can someone tell me how to do that?
I was successful in removing all of the icons other than Finder, Safari and Trash from the bottom of my screen now that I have deleted everything else and it is much cleaner.
    Thank you!

Here's an app that supposedly will disable your isight. Says it works in Lion, maybe it will work in ML too: Download iSight Disabler for Mac - Quickly turn on/off your USB iSight. MacUpdate.comhttps://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/23346/isight-disabler

And here is a page with a Terminal command for deleting Photo Booth: How to Delete Safari, Mail, FaceTime, Photo Booth, and Other Default Mac OS X Apps
As a general rule, however, removing system software is a bad idea.
If you're really paranoid about the camera, then a little piece of tape over the lens would do the trick!

  • How do I get photo booth in Tiger

Using Mac G4 cube. Tiger 10.4.11. Will not upgrade to Leopard. Want photo booth. I have a firewire video interface Canopus ADVC110.. It shows up and works in iMove on this machine. The Tiger install disk does not have Photo Booth on it at all. Looked under special install and it is not there. Tried dragging photo booth over from a 10.5.6 machine. Bounces once on the dock and does not launch. Tried doing a special install from a Leopard disk on the Cube. Special install will not launch. All I really want is a small resizeable window that I can plop down on any of the two monitors connect to the Cube and watch a video feed from a live camera. As I said, the camera through the Canopus to firewire works fine in iMove but the window in iMove is way to big at its smallest and has all of the other editing stuff all over the screen. Anyone got any ideas. Another idea I would like to explore is using an old G4 cube running Leopard as a video server. I would need to get three or 4 video plus sound feeds into it using firewire or usb devices. I would then like to be able to get to it with any machine on the LAN using a browser and pick the video source I want to watch. Security Spy would do this but I do not need motion sensing or recording or anything , just the live feed to the other computers.

Leopard PhotoBooth cannot be used on a Tiger OS computer because it's not the same.
The Leopard PhotoBooth has video & background options. The Tiger version does NOT have video & background options. You can ONLY snap photos.
I would suggest that you try DotMatrix. It's better than the Tiger version of PhotoBooth. It use to be free but I believe now it's shareware. There may be a free demo version.
Carolyn: My Tiger G5 iMac came pre-intalled w/PhotoBooth.

  • How do I find photo booth ?

I have a built in camera and when I first got my laptop I took a couple of pictures but now I cant find photo booth anywhere

    Welcome To  Discussions litebeam!
Exactly which model Mac do you have, and exactly which version of OS X is installed?
If you have Cheetah 10.0.x, as you computer specs state, then you do not have Photo Booth.

  • How do I import photo booth video to FCP7?

I recorded 6 or so 5 minute videos and i want to edit them in FCP7, i also have an audio track mixed down to mp3 from logic pro so the goal here is to match up the video with the audio(the videos have the same audio playing in the background of the video) but I'm having trouble with the following
    A. What video codec do i use to edit and what settings in the converter? do i convert it with mpeg streamclip or compressor?
    B. can i just drag my mp3 and its audio or should i use aif ect...?
    c. what settings should i set the sequencer to as well, frame rate/ratio ect

Photobooth produces H.264 video at about 18fps.
Neither of those specifications are suitable for FCP, which works with industry standard broadcast formats.
Convert in Compressor to ProRes LT. You will also need to change the frame rate without slowing the footage down.
You can't use .mp3 audio either - FCP expects AIFF at 48 kHz, 16 Bit.
Sequence Settings should always match the source material - except yours is unsuitable to begin with.
Look in the Easy Setup menu, that's what FCP works with.

  • How to use photo booth with skype???

I can't seem to figure out how to use the photo booth effects with Skype. I would just use iChat but my husband is on a PC and I am on TDY for the military with my MacBook.

    Hi,
There is a folder called Compositions in the system side of things that booth Apple apps of Photo Booth and iChat can access for the Video Effects (And Backdrops on Intel computers in iChat)
Third Party apps such as Skype do not access this folder and therefore do not have Effects.
(there  may be a Skype add-on that has them but I don't use it so I don't know).
It seems CamTwist does work for Skype.
iChat should Video to AIM on a PC (free)  (Or Trillian Pro for a small amount).
Results can vary with AIM  (Post in iChat if you want to know more) but you would then have access to the same effects Photo Booth has.

  • How to reinstall  Photo booth?

How do I reinstall Photo Booth?

I know this is an old thread and you didn't state why you wanted/needed to reinstall Photo Booth, but I have the same question because the Photo Booth on my iMac now says "Photo Booth couldn't save your photos" when I launch it. The message continues "Photo Booth encounterred an error when trying to save your photos. Your photos cannot be saved at this time." The option at this point is to click "OK." But when I do that I get the same message.
I used Pacifist to replace the app from the OS installler I have on a USB flash drive and it seemed like everything went fine. There were no messages to think otherwise. After Pacifist replaced it I tried to launch it but got the same message I did before.
With Pacifist you have the choice of either updating the app, or replacing the the app, and I chose "Replace." I wonder if the outcome would be different if I had chosen "Update," but having already replaced it I don't think updating will serve any purpose. I'll try that but in the meantime if anybody has any suggestions I will surely appreciate them. Thanks for any help you may give me.

  • How do I re-install Photo booth? I deleted it off of my computer completely about a year ago by accident.

How do I get Photo booth back after I've deleted it completely? Thanks!

PhotoBooth is one of those programs that only get installed with a OS X re-install.
So even though you may pop the 10.6 install disk and run the bundled programs installer, you won't get PhotoBooth.
It's ok, you don't have to wipe the drive to get PhotoBooth just follow these steps
1: first check to see if you just didn't remove the Dock Alias for PhotoBooth, look in your Applicaitons folder for the original and drag it back to it's spot on the Dock. your done. stop.
2: backup your user files folders (music, pictures etc) off the machine to a storage drive and disconnect
3:  pop in your 10.6 machine specific disk that came with the computer, if you upgraded to 10.7 you'll have to hold command r and boot into Lion Recovery. Simply, Reinstall OS X, do not erase the drive.
4: Reboot and hold the shift key down, go to Software Update and update fully to get OS X back to current version
5: Reboot normally and PhotoBooth should have returned.
6: Go around and test your third party programs, some may have gotten disabled as the install kext files into OS X that got kicked out, so reinstall those programs from orignal sources. IF you get gray screen or hangs, reboot with shift key down and update those programs with incompatible kext files.
(note: I know it works for 10.6, not sure with 10.7)
Another option is to use Pacifist to extact PhotoBooth from the OS X install disks and replace it, it's hard to find so dig deep into the OS X installer, it's not in the bundled programs pkg. Note, I haven't tried this.
I think because of the Mac spying issue in Philli that involved schoolchildren in their homes, that Apple took extra pre-cautions with PhotoBooth that require a OS X install to return it back to OS X, so it's not included in the bundled program installer.
    Good Luck

  • Photo booth crashes when I try to share photos

There's a share button on Photo booth that has options as to where I can share my selected photos, it used to work fine and suddenly it froze one time, leaving the selected photos floating on my desktop even after force quitting? The photos disappear from my desktop after restarting my MacBook
How do I stop photo booth from doing this?
    Thank you in advance ❤️

If you have Perian and 3ivx, these could be the ones guilty of the error. I had the same problem so I installed 3ivx and Perian. I'll install Perian again to test if it works, but I won't place 3ivx on my Mac again. This link helped http://forums.cocoaforge.com/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=23502

  • Moving iPhoto, Photo Booth, & iMovie library to an external drive

I've search through most of the support community and still havent found a concrete answer. Like most my current internal harddrive is about full. Mostly filled with photos and movies. I have a external harddrive that Time Machine is enabled. I also backed u my iphoto & photo booth library to the external drive. I have yet to move over any imovie data until I am sure that process will work.
How do I move all data over so that iphoto, photo booth, & imovie can be ran fom my external harddrive. Also how can I ensure that imovie will direct itself to the iphoto library on my external because all movies from the past use the iphoto library as its directory. Once this is done I would like to delete all previous data off of my nternal drive
    Thank you

. I have a external harddrive that Time Machine is enabled. I also backed u my iphoto & photo booth library to the external drive. I have yet to move over any imovie data until I am sure that process will work.
Do you want to store your movies and photos on your Time Machine drive? That is not recommended, since you will not have a backup, if the media are only on your backup volume. You will need a second drive in addition to your backup drive, and this drive needs to be formatted MacOS Extended (Journaled), otherwise you cannot store photo libraries (iPhoto, Aperture) or iMovie events on that drive, see:  Format external drives to Mac OS Extended before using with Aperture (remember, thta formatting erases a drive, you have to save any contents to another drive before formatting).
For iPhoto:  Once your external drive has the correct file system, simply select your iPhoto library in the Finder and drag it to that drive. Then double click the copied library to open it in iPhoto.
For iMovie: To move your iMovie events to an external drive, use the event browser in iMovie - don't use the Finder!
See this Help page:  Copy or move video from your Event Library to an external ... http://support.apple.com/kb/ph2302
I don't use Photo Booth, so I do not know how to move your Photo Booth photos.
    Regards
    Léonie
