How do I turn iTunes match off from my computer

I signed for iTunes match and today I associated my Mac with iTunes match and now I can't play the music and it tells me the music cannot be located.  How do I turn iTunes match off?
Thank you for your help.

  • How can I turn iTunes Match off without an internet connection?

Hi all.  I find myself up s**t creek without a paddle.  I have subscribed to iTunes Match, which I find to be an excellent service.  However, I'm travelling (by ship) and don't have an internet connection for the forseeable future.  I recently, prior to departing on my voyage, scrubbed my phone and ipad for extra space, so I deleted all of my music content, knowing my music would be with me on my laptop.  However, now I want to walk around the ship and listen to my music, which I assumed I would be able to sync with my laptop.  Unfortunately, I can't find any iTunes or iPhone options to sync any music because it says iTunes Match is enabled.  There are no options to disable iTunes Match either.  I'm using the latest version of iOS (5.1) on an iPhone 4S purchased in Japan, as well as the most recent (as of 4/1/2012) version of iTunes on my Macbook Pro running OS X Lion.
Thanks for any help someone might offer.

I was recently able to connect my iPhone to a Wi-Fi network connected to the internet.  Only then did the option show up in the Settings app.  I'm not sure if that's by design or if it's a bug, but it's terribly inconvenient just at the moment I need to access the feature.  If it's by design, it's a poor design compared to most other aspects of iOS.

  • After I download a 256 kbps song using ITunes Match, how do I get it to play on my computer at the higher bit rate once I turn ITunes Match off again?

After I download a 256 kbps song from the cloud using ITunes Match, how do I get it to play on my computer once I turn ITunes Match off again? I have been using ITunes Match for awhile now to increase the bit rate on songs to 256 kbps.  Once I download the songs at the new bit rate, I turn off Match because I want to eliminate duplicates. Usually there is no problem. This time, however, 278 of my songs lost their file association and were unplayable unless I locate the song files within my computer.  These are songs purchased from Amazon.  In order to play them again in ITunes (Match is now off), I must locate each song file individually (I've tried to do it in bulk but have not succeeded) but now the bit rate has returned to the lower number BEFORE I matched the song.  I should have never used Match in the first place. Any ideas, anyone?

I discovered that the NEW 256 bit file does reside on my computer, in the ITunes files (My Music/ITunes/ITunes Media/Music.  So I can bring the songs back as 256 kbps, and I have been successful now at locating more than one file at a time, by clicking on the "find other missing files" tab in the popup window.  Previously, I'd been going back to my Amazon files, and not only was I unable to bring back a 256 version, but the popup window would not locate similar files.  So while I wish ITunes Match would automatically associate the ITunes Match file, at least I can retrive the file association without hours and hours of work.

  • Even turning iTunes Match OFF is a mess

iTunes Match on the desktop = awesome.
    On the iPhone = disaster.
Just a warning to everyone else. IM match is terrible on the iPhone. Playlists don't sync right (if at all), music is terribly slow to download, there's no album art or genius playlists, and it crashed my iPhone numerous times.
So I disabled it, restarted my phone, and synced it back with iTunes to return to manual control. After taking several hours to sync 3000+ songs, most songs still had the cloud icon next to them --> even with iTunes Match OFF. Playing one of them would still try to stream it/download it from the cloud. So I did a restore from last backup. After that completed, I reloaded all my songs AGAIN. Went to launch Music.app - and all I got was a blank white screen for about 10 seconds, and then it crashed. Did a hard reset, same issue. I could not play music on my phone.
Scheduled a genius appointment. Waited at the store for 30 minutes (past my appointment). After a quick diagnosis, he said that springboard was corrupt and I'd have to do a complete factory restore. He even advised against restoring from a backup after that -- he wanted me to start over and manually re-do all my settings and app installations (and lose all my data, saved games etc).
I took a gamble and did a restore, but then restored from a backup too. That seemed to work. I reloaded all my songs, iTunes match is off, and there's no iCloud icon next to any of my songs.
Bottom line - think twice before using iTunes Match on your iPhone. There are definite bugs that need to be sorted out. I literally spent most of Saturday syncing and restoring my phone.
Having said that, I greatly enjoy the service on my desktop - it keeps my work and home iTunes library and sync, and I was able to replace tons of old rips with fresh 256 kpbs tracks. But I won't be renewing if Apple doesn't get the mobile experience fixed.

I experienced the same "disfunction" when turning iTunes Match off on my iPhone and iPad - there were still all kinds of stale files and links to the "cloud" still hangning around on my devices. Also, after turning Match off on the device, when I connected the device to iTunes on my mac, looking at the "Music" folder on the iPhone and iPad within iTunes still showed all kinds of "greyed out" files (with song entries often duplicated 2 or 3 times) that could not be deleted - even when "manage music manually" was selected.
I was able to clean things up using the OPs suggestion of turning iTunes Match off on the devices and restoring from back up, so thank you for that.
All in all, I concur with the OP - iTunes match is fantastic between computers, but with iOS devices it is currently not ready for prime time.

  • When syncing iphone, turned itunes match off, itunes doesn't recognise iphone :S

Fed up of the glithcy iTunes match on iphone, so turned it off and so I could sync music from itunes, but after i turn itunes match off, itunes no longers recognises my iphone and says it is a new device and needs restoring? Turn itunes match back on and it fine with itunes? Guess it's another bug with itunes match! Hope they sort it out soon!

  • I have to turn itunes match off then on everyday!

Everyday, I have to turn off itunes match, then turn it on in order for it to work.  This is getting very frustrating cause to listen to music that isn't stored locally, I have to go through this procedure and it sometimes takes 5 minutes or more!

I have the exact same problem. My context:
    - Windows 8, iTunes 11.0.4.4, Ethernet connection through web proxy (no authentication)
    - When I start iTunes, I have the little lightning bolt in the cloud, and I cannot play any song of my iTunes match library
    - Everytime I start iTunes, I have to turn off, then turn iTunes match back on. After some minutes, I can play songs from my iTunes library again.
    - When turning iTunes match on, iTunes often crashes. When I debug it I get "Unhandled exception at 0x5B84E1119 (JavaScriptCore.dll) in iTunes.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x00000002."
    (JavaScriptCore.dll is C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support\JavaScriptCore.dll, version 7536.30.0.2).
It does not seem to be related to my PC going on sleep or being restarted, but happens everytime I start iTunes.
Given I'm on win8 and the original poster on a Mac - it looks more like an iTunes (client) or iTunes Match (server) problem.
Any help is appreciated. Should I open a case with Apple?

  • HT204406 How to turn iTunes match off on iTunes for iPad sync?

Although my iTunes match account did not renew, the "music" tab for my iPad (under iTunes on my MacPro) when connected, still shows "iTunes Match is ON"
Under the "store" in iTunes menu tab it shows: "Turn On iTunes match"
It is OK for all other devices; iPhones, etc.  Only for iPad the problem still remains.
On the iPad itself; it shows off, i.e.: "please renew iMatch account"
I have tried logins and outs, sync, etc.  Nothing works!  I cannot sync my music anymore, even manually!

    3. Wrote my request in this form explaining why would I want to cancel subscription.
    4. Got a responce from support that my case seems to be a fair exception of Apple rules and my iTunes match subscription is canceled and refund issued.

  • How can I manually transfer a song to a new device without turning iTunes Match off & on again?

I purchased a new cd & imported it into my iTunes library on my computer but I don't have access to amazing internet.  iTunes match ran for two hours without managing to finish sending my library's information to Apple & so I still don't have access to my new album on any of my devices.  The last time I turned off iTunes match to sync a song manually to a device I discovered upon turning it back on that iTunes apparently had to re-match my entire library from scratch which took days.  Very not cool.  Any suggestions?

If you wish to sync music to your iOS device via USB it is not necessary to disable iTunes Match in iTunes. You only need to disable iTunes Match on the iOS device and restart the device.
If the service is having trouble with the scan try restarting your internet modem and/or Wi Fi router.

  • HT204406 iTunes Match was set up but wouldn't download any of my music. I turned iTunes Match off, deauthorised and then reauthorised, restarted iTunes. Now iTunes match won't turn on - I get the "Add this computer screen" but it says can't add for 83 day

iTunes Match was set up on my new MacBook Pro. Today, it wouldnt download any of my music, so I followed advice, switched on iTunes Match and switched it on again. When this didnt help, I deauthorized the computer, logged out of iTunes, and relogged in again. I have reauthroized the computer and reset the View/Options.
However, now I cant connect to iTunes Match or iCloud at all. The screen asking me to Add this computer comes up, when I click and enter my Mac account details I get the error message:
"You can use iTunes Match on this computer with just one Apple ID every 90 days. You cannot associate this computer with a different Apple ID for 83 days."
However, this was the iTunes account with which I set up iTunes Match.
    Anyone got any suggestions?

  • How to run two iTunes match libraries on one computer

Does anybody have a work around?
I want to set another library with another itunes match for a friend of mine and sync his music since he doesn't have a interenet connection where he lives.
When I created another library and tried to turn match on under his itunes account it came up with an error stating that this computer is associated with another match account and i wouldn't be able to do any downloads or something for 90 days if I changed the computer to another apple id.
Anybody else tried to do this?
Is this apples way of keeping us from giving other people our music?

If you own a mac and you have paralles then that is the answer.
I knew there had to be a way to do this on a mac.
Don't know the answer for PCs yet though.

  • How do I move iTunes music content from one computer to another?

I need to move iTunes content from an older MacBook, which serves as the music source for our audio system, to a new Mac mini, which will now do the same.
I know to move the folder in the music folder but I would like to make certain the playlists are moved in conjunction with the move so I don't have to recreate the playlists on the new mini.
I can't find any information on how to do this in the faqs, in the Take Control books, or the latest system manuals.
Any help would be much appreciated.
