I think I fixed my problem. I have an ipad air, ipad mini and an iPhone 5c. All of them are linked. I had to go into each one and change my settings to delete the messages. Now it works. Hope this helps someone else.

What you are saying is true but it will not always work. The aap store is dead. Wen I go to the fret urged page I see a white screen. I should be able to scroll down to the bottom and select View Apple ID but can't. This is on my wife's iPad and she thought after she upgraded to iOS 6.0 when it prompted her to turn on Genius that's what caused the trouble and she wanted to turn off Genius. NO CAN DO in App Store.
To turn off Genius I had to go to Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Apple ID xxxxx then click view Apple ID then I can turn Genius off and on.
But the did not fix the problem with the App Store which is still dead.

I am using German OS therefore maybe the items are called differently in English:
1) Go into the main menu
2) Select "Alerts"
3) select the Profile you like to adjust
4) Select App Alerts
5) Select Email
6) You sould see your 3 mail accounts listed
7) Select the one you like to "mute" and you can set everything (sound, LED, vibration etc. individually for this acount)

How do I turn off Facebook text messages?

I really don't know where to ask this question, so I hope I'm posting it in the right location. I transitioned from the iPhone 3GS to the new iPhone 4S. On my older iPhone, I NEVER received text messages from Facebook (which is a good thing). However, now that I am using the 4S, I am constantly getting bombarded with text messages from Facebook. They are "notifications", ie, when someone posts to my wall or if someone responds to a comment that I made.
I don't know if this is something that is controlled from the Facebook web page (using Safari on my iMac), or if it is controlled from the Facebook app on my iPhone, or if it is controlled from "Settings" or "Notifications" on the iPhone. I have tried all of these places and turned everything off. All notifications for Facebook are in the "OFF" position. I am at my wit's end because this stupid thing is waking me up in the middle of the night with Facebook text messages.
If anyone can help me in finding out how to turn this feature off, I would sure appreciate it. Thanks!

Okay, it has been a few hours and I have not had a single text message from Facebook. WHEW!!
It had to be your suggestion that fixed it. I don't know how I missed turning off that one notification, but I guess that's what did the trick. They have made this notification stuff a bit confusing, becasue there are multiple areas where you can go in and turn stuff on and offf, and you really can't tell what it is you're doing until it's too late.

My external hard drive is 'seen' by my iMac and I can go into the Finder and open files and folders. I am using the hard drive for Time Machine back up. However Time Machine says it can't find the drive. Same thing has happened with Final Cut Express.

How do I turn off skype for web (beta) when I log-in to my outlook email

I've noticed in the past couple of days that when I log-in to my outlook email page that it shows the new 'skype for web (beta) icon at the top right of the messenger pane instead of the old message link. How do I turn this off and go back to the old version as I don't like the new skype for web and much prefer the old style message pane? I have noted that when I open my People page or OneDrive page that the old version still shows there, so why can't I turn it off in my email page and go back to the original pane? I would appreciate some help and advice on this. Thanks.

Hi Claudius,, Thanks for replying. You asked what I preferred about the old message pane. I just preferred how it looked. You could see automatically from your contact list who was online as the call/video icons showed clearly beside their name and if you simply wanted to send an IM, you just selected the contact and the IM box would appear at the bottom. I just don't like how the new skype for web looks at the side of your Outlook email page as I don't like the layout. I know it all comes down to personal preference and mine is for the old version. I don't understand why they have to keep making changes to things. The way I see it is, if something isn't broke, why break it? The old version worked perfectly well and I preferred it but we, the users, don't get a say in anything because the people who make these decisions just go ahead and change things no matter what. I have an iPhone 5S. It is running ios7. I just added my email account today to "Mail." I cannot turn off notifications. The alert style is set to None. The Badge App Icon is slid to off. The app is in the "Do Not Include" section in Notifications. The alert type is set to "vibrate only" ONLY because there is NO OTHER OPTION! I want NOTHING! No alerts at all! No sound no vibrate no nothing.

Are you just referring to while you are sleeping? You can use the Do Not Disturb function that will only let phone calls through from favorites if that is what you are worried about.
Or, for what you are talking about, when you go to Settings>Sounds>New Mail>one selection is for Vibration. Click on that and then scroll down to the bottom and None is a choice.

How do I turn off passcode for when my daily alarm rings?

Guys, since I updated to 4.3.3 I'm having an annoying problem with my daily wake up alarm.
When it goes off in the morning I slide to unlock as normal but then I have to enter my passcode. I never had to do this before.
I don't want to turn passcode off due to security reasons but I also don't want to have to enter my passcode when I can just slide to turn off the alarm instead!
How can I overcome this problem? I looks everywhere for a solution but no luck.

Could be many things, we should start with this...
"Try Disk Utility
1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.
If 10.7.0 or later...
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.

I use GMail and have several shared calendars for work. I have added these calendars to iCal on my iPhone 5 running iOS8. Through iCal, I have the settings so that only 2 calendars from my shared GMail calendars show up on my phone, however, there is one un-checked calendar (that has a daily event) that notifies me every single day of the event the next day! There are no alerts set for these events on the Google Calendar settings and the calendar isn't even supposed to show up on my phone's calendar, yet I'm still notified. Any ideas how to fix this or is it just a bug?

All of my friends and family that had texted me using iMessgae before are now unable to text me because every time they try, it sends an iMessage. How do I turn off iCloud for podcasts?

I'm an avid podcast listener primarily on my iPod.
Since I dowloaded iOS7 for my iPad, my podcasts list in iTunes is showing old deleted podcasts in the podcast list view which are now available in iCloud. I can't figure out how to remove these listings. For instance, the NPR Fresh Aire podcast has past episodes listed back to 10/2012. Makes the podcast listing very frustrating to use.
I already have "Show iTunes in the Cloud Purchases" unchecked in the preferences. This doesn't seem to affect what is shown in podcasts.
