How do I turn off audio in Firefox?

Hey there,
I would like to mute sound in Firefox (for Mac). To put it more precise, it would be great if you could mute the audio per open tab. For instance, because you're loading a video in two tabs and you only want the sound from the one you're watching. I understand I can de-activate the associated programs using the preferences menu. But that doesn't stop sound in general (unless you de-activate ALL that are used to play sound.) Is there a solution around this problem? (For instance, like a sound of/on button option in the navigation bar)
By the way, I have also checked the add-on pages for a solution but found none.
thanking you for your time and effort,
Frizzle

In addition to Steve's suggestions, there is another way, that comes to my mind:
Open Audio Mixer, and for that Audio Track, check the Mute checkbox.

• How can I turn OFF audio monitoring during capture from tape?

FCP has a very useful check box that allows you to turn off audio monitoring during capture, so you can listen to other things whilst the batch captures. Is there any way to do this in PP? If not, how can I make a feature request?
I'm using PP CS6.
Thanks for any help.

The only other solution I can offer is to go to "edit" "preferences" then select "playback". Under playback set the default audio device to your capturing device instead of the adobe desktop audio. This will allow you capture but not have to listen to whats being captured. However once it's done capturing you'll have to set it back to adobe desktop audio otherwise you can't hear what you're editing in your timeline.
Other than that I'm out of ideas sorry.

• How can I turn off autosearch in Firefox to allow for an unknow address?

I need help disabling the autosearch provider in Firefox 8.0. I need to reset my wireless adaptor for my Tivo DVR and in order to do this, I disable my wireless network, type a series of numbers into the Firefox address bar and click return key. This then is supposed to take me to a Wireless “Setup Wizard” housed in the adaptor, not the internet. However, when I try this, Firefox tries to connect and then I get an error message that it could not and the site is busy. How do I disable “autosearch” so that Firefox goes to this non-internet based link rather than first going to Google search engine?
I have tried the following based on Firefox Help page:
I have entered “about”config” and then set “keyword.enabled” to “false” and also “browser.fixup.alternate.enabled” to “false”.
Is there anything else I can do so that Firefox connects directly to the Setup Wizard rather than attempting to go to a search engine first?
Thanks for your help.

Preferences are stored in the ''prefs.js'' file under the user's profile folder. Barring any third-party tools, the registry doesn't have anything to do with it.
* [[Profiles - Where Firefox stores your bookmarks, passwords and other user data]]
You can modify preferences for a Firefox installation, which would affect all users running that copy. The preference you'll want to modify is ''security.mixed_content.block_active_content'' (set to '''true''' by default).

• How do I turn off backspace in Firefox?

When I am typing an blog or e-mail and hit backspace, instead of deleting the character, Firefox navigates backwards...which erases everything I type. Firefox does not cache or save anything so I have to start over.
I tried options, setting, preferences...I cannot find a way to turn this annoying 'feature' off.

• How do you turn off audio when coming back to a branched slide?

I have audio on a slide (like the main menu) and I want the learners to return to this slide when they get to the end of a section. However, I don't want the audio to replay. I tried creating an advanced interaction to stop the triggered audio but that isn't working. Does anyone have another approach for making this happen?
Thank you!
Tara

Is this audio attached to the slide, then there is no way to stop the audio when you enter the slide a second time. The statement 'Stop triggered audio' - which tells me that you are using CP6 - will only stop audio that has been started with 'Play audio'. Both are new statements. Do not add the audio to the slide, but create this condtional action to be triggered on entering that slide:
I checked it as you can see, and it works,

HOW DO YOU TURN OFF "FIREFOX PREVENTED THIS PAGE FROM AUTOMATICALLY RELOADING". I did perform the "see Advanced - General - Accessibility. It worked for me and my "user" site (don't know how to say my site) and still having problems with my wife's. I have gone to OPTIONS → GONE TO → ADVANCE and CLICKED THE LINE → ""Warn me when websites try to redirect or reload the page…""
This did not rememdy the problem. I did try to get on the other site suggested
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Accessibility.blockautorefresh
but got a 404 error...
I have googled the "ff prevented...." and after a number of hours searching I still have not found a fix...
REALLY HOPE SOMEONE CAN HELP ME....
JM

You should still disable this setting:
*Firefox > Options/Preferences > Advanced > General : Accessibility : [ ] "Warn me when web sites try to redirect or reload the page"
The setting in "Options > Advanced > General" is meant as an accessibility feature, as you can see by the label of that section, so that people with disabilities or people who use screen readers do not get confused and is not meant as a safety protection to stop redirecting.
What is the value of the accessibility.blockautorefresh pref on the about:config page?

• How can I turn off the sound from the original midi or audio tracks when I turned on the duplicate tracks for editing ?

How can I turn off the sound from the original midi or audio tracks when I edit or listen to the duplicate tracks in Logic Pro 9 ?
I'm using iMac desktop with Mac OS X Version 10.7.3. Pls advise.

Dan,
It sounds like one of your preferences has changed.
Go to preferences > audio > general, and make sure "track mute/solo" is set to "CPU saving (slow response)". It is probably set to "Fast " at the moment.
This setting (fast) basically causes immediate muting from the channel strip while your song is in play. This is because the audio is still being read from the hard drive, but the channel strip is simply muted.... like a hardware mixer. When set to "CPU saving", the audio from that track, when muted, is actually stopped from streaming from the hard drive, but there is a couple second delay before the audio is actually muted.
One would think that the fast setting is generally preferable, except when you need to do what you are doing. The only way to keep duplicate copies of channel strips acting independent of one another is to leave this setting on the "CPU saving" setting.
Hope that helps

I am using earphones, but the external audio of my mini ipad is still on. How can I turn off the external audio while listening with my headset/earphones?

Other than iMovie, GB always incorporates the audio files into the GB package. So just save or move the GB project to the external drive, and you're done - anything you import, edit or record will be saved to the external drive.

• How do I turn off the automatic check for update on opening Firefox? I want to turn off that "what's new" page.

How do I turn off that automatic update that always brings me to the "what's new" web page? It was interesting the first time, but now it is just an irritation. I can check for updates on my own, so I want to turn off this feature. It just started up when I upgraded to Firefox 5. I can't find a place to stop it from checking and bringing me to that web page. Also, I can't stop it from checking add-ons every single time I open the browser.

did you check the suggestions mentioned in the article i posted in my previous post ??
