How do i turn off automatic plugin check on startup... I have turned off in options/advanced, but still checks on startup
on firefox startup I get two tabs... one for google (my home page) the other for plugin check. I go to tools/advanced and turn off startup check for plugins, the restart firefox... the plugin check tabe still appears. All of my plugins are up to date!!! How do I stop this auto plugin check from taking place each time I start up firefox? This never was a problem before, just started yesterday and I can't stop it.
I started using Fire Fox to get away from this crap. I consider this forced plug in thing to be a tracking Trojan and pop up adds. It's my opinion this has become no different than I.E. or any other Micro Soft application where I loose control of how I manage my own computer applications by having things forced on me that I necessarily don't want. I plan to quit using Fire Fox until I am assured this doesn't happen any more and and feel confident my browsing and other web activity is not being monitored and tracked by Mozilla. What other data and applications can we assume they are looking at on our computers? I think if this is the direction they are now headed, other folks should do the same thing.

ok. I do have a time capsule but if I move itunes on to it how do I sync my ipods and iphone? Or can I have my Itunes account on both and just move my movies to the time capsule?

i have deleted all contacts in icloud but still have them on my iphone (which is backed up as well to iTunes) how can i restore the iphone data to the iCloud so it will resend it to my mac book and iPad? I have switched my iphone to airplane mode so it is not connected to the internet and so icloud can not wipe it at the moment.
thanks royThere's a menu choice (I think under "Files") that lets you sync purchased items on a device back to itunes. Look for that.
iCloud does not store music. If you want to do that you'd have to subscribe to itunes Match, but to get music to the match servers, you need the music in the itunes library on your computer. -

How can I prevent the Plugin Check tab from loading every time I start Fire Fox?
This problem is a real headache; I've tried all the solutions posted on [[https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/833109]] to no avail. Altering the '''about:config''' settings such as the ones mentioned in the posts don't work, e.g. setting the '''plugins.update.url''' blank only causes the plugin-search website to be substituted with a blank page. I completely removed Firefox and found that after a fresh install the issue would reemerge, not initially, but after opening it after a few times. Also, disabling all plug-ins and add-ons won't help either.
I used to really love Firefox, but don't understand why this problem is yet to be solved properly, as it's been around for some time and has caused many to switch browsers. My faith in the Mozilla team would be restored if this bug were fixed.
P.S. I will never go Chrome (no matter how shiny that poisonous apple is), but there are many other browsers out there... -
How to remove the ThePluginProblem dynamic plugin checker
In early October 2012, Mozilla.org rolled out / pushed out a piece of code that forces Firefox (all versions) to go to www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck every time you restart the computer and re-open Firefox. The unauthorized intrusion is an issue. The constant nagging is unacceptable. Their attempts to recruit other web pages to join in the intrusion and nagging is inexcusable. Short of uninstalling Firefox after 20+ years, how do we get rid of the 'new' plugin checker?
The crashes and hangups started with the push out of the new forced plugin update checker. The point is that the plugin checker is causing the instabilities. The goal is to remove the plugin checker that no one wanted or asked for, but was forced on us. The Firefox team is not willing to admit they screwed up by dictating to everyone. They will not undo the damage they have created. And so Firefox will be losing customer loyalty and trust, not to mention market share as we jump ship on this piece of marxist programming.
And older versions of Firefox are not "unsafe". They merely lack the undesired functionality of the newer versions. Browser safety is addressed by the computer owner in other ways. Firefox should never be dictatorial in how the computer owner determines to address computer safety. -

My iMac with Snow Leopard 10.6.8 crahed b/c the HD cannot be repaired. I reinstalled Mac OS X and luckily have most documents and applications. I have moved them all into folders before I erase the HD. I had all my documents but lost the 3 applications for iWorks. It says go to the store, buy and enter your serial#. That is not working. HT2307 How can you shut off the option command click shortcut that minimizes all windows?
I can't find a place to turn off the option click shortcut that minimizes the last window and option command click that minimizes all of the other windows. Is there a way to do this? They don't show up (or I can't find them) in the Dock Preferences or the Keyboard Shortcuts.
I use Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign and that's the zoom shortcut keys with space. If I use another program on my second monitor and go back to that and want to zoom in it minimizes everything else.

TS1559 Wifi is off (grey) reloaded software but still say off. Pls help???
It seems after loading the lastest software OS on my IPAD3 the Wifi will not work. It has stayed GREY OFF and can't sync to wifi. My wifes IPAD2 does but not my IPAD3 since I did the update (it seems). Any help please, this thing is driving me crazy.
Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
• Launch Settings app

• In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

My daughter got an iphone and it was orginally set up on my personal icloud id and now I would like her to have her own ID but still link it to my cloud account for calenders and reminders but so that her contacts and things like that are her own. How do I change this over? Do I need a new apple/mac ID for her first and then link it to the icloud account or a specific ICloud account specifically.

Save any photo steam photos she wants to keep on her device by opening her my photo stream album, tapping Edit, tap all the photos, tap Share, tap Save to Camera Roll.
Go to Settings>iCloud and tap Delete Account, choose Keep on My iPhone when prompted. (This will not delete the account from iCloud. Other devices still syncing with the account will not be effected by this.)
In Settings>iCloud, sign back in with a different Apple ID (if she doesn't have one, click Get Free Apple ID at the bottom) to create a new, separate, iCloud account.
Turn on iCloud data syncing with the new account, and when prompted, choose Merge to upload her data to the new account. When she turns Mail to On she will be given a new, separate, iCloud email account.
Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Add Account>iCloud, sign into the origingal iCloud account, then turn on Calendars and Reminders in this secondary iCloud account on her phone. This will allow her to continue to sync calendars and reminders with the original shared iCloud account, while syncing her contacts and other data with her own separate iCloud account. -
The Web-Based Email plugin has crashed. I get this message when trying to paste simple text into an email document. I have updated plugins and have run out of options. If I use another browser I have no problem. Please advise.
