How do I turn off or reject location suggestions in Calendar?

I usually place addresses into Calendar using the same format. Zip Code, Street Address (Name of Building or Campus) Room/Building Number. This allows me to quickly access the information I need to arrive in the right place at the right time (I am self-employed and travel to a number of different places in one day). I like being able to see all the location information I need in my notification center of my iPhone and iPad.
Calendar now reformats of any address it recognizes, even if I do not click on the suggestion, forcing me to add pertinent information to the notes section, something I can not see without opening the application.
I checked the Preferences for both Calendar and Maps and found no option for turning these suggestions off. I purposely turned off all Location Services on my MacBook. When that did not work I deleted the Maps application (believing that maybe the two applications where connected). These suggestions are still popping up and deleting what I enter.
I do not like or want these suggestions popping up or overriding the information I enter. Is it possible to turn them off or honestly ignore them? Maybe there is an [defaults write] I could use?

Happy to get suggestions.  But I'm finding Calendar is now basically refusing to let me key in my own address and is replacing it with the nearest suggestion (which could be completely out).  Seems to have got worse with recent update.  My workaround is to edit on my iPhone, which at least offers you a way to positively choose an entry that simply reflects what you actually typed.
Come on Apple this is deeply irritating....

  • How do I turn off the auto-locator?

I can no longer get to Yahoo.com which now always defaults to Yahoo.de, the German Yahoo. When I change it to the American one it immediately goes back to the German. I am American but live in Germany. I thought if I turned off the auto-locater I might be able to access Yahoo.com again so want to try it. How do I turn it off?

    Hi,
I don't think Private Browsing is the issue, rather the locator and when I click on the link you provide I get an error message like this:

  • How do I turn off reminders in one MS Outlook Calendar, but not the other?

I have my calendar and I also have a calendar (lets call it Shared Calendar) in which I copied all of my team's calendars into. I want to keep the Reminder alert on my calendar and turn off the Reminder alerts on the Shared Calendar.  How can I do
    this?

    Hi,
Yes , like Rajitha said , the reminder comes from organizer. Unless the organizer uncheck Reminder in OWA or Outlook (File—Calendar—uncheck Default Reminder/change the reminder value to None
directly when create an meeting) when we arrange the meeting.
But if we do like this, all the user who be invited will lost the reminder.
We can dismiss the reminder,  or single click an meeting in Calendar and then change the reminder value to “None” for single meeting
    as workaround.

  • TS2755 How do I turn off voice auto complete suggestions?

I've turned off SIRI, but continue to get loud and annoying auto complete suggestions when I'm trying to compose a message. This is particularly irritating when I'm in a meeting or the library.

Check accessibility and VoiceOver to see if it is turned on and what features are active (Settings app > Accessiblity > Speak Auto text (also look at VoiceOver))

  • How do I turn off email notification for a shared calendar?

I've a shared calendar and when someone makes a new appointment I get notified by email. Those emails are annoying and I would like to get just a notification on my iDevice instead of the email.
Therefor I logged in to iCloud.com, went to Calendar, Settings, Advanced, Invitations. In-App-Notification is active, email is inactive. But I still receive those mails and no in-app-notifications on my iDevice. Any ideas why this isn't working? Did I miss anything?
PS: I've iCloud in German language, so maybe the expressions are no 100% correct as I used them above

How do I turn off the Genius app in App Store. I've gone to Settings/Privacy/Location Services/System Services then swiped Genius for apps 'off''. Also, I've gone to Settings/ITunes and App Stores/Click on AppleID/View Apple ID and then turn off Genius. Still nothing has worked. I'm still stuck with Genius offering the same apps to me. Mind you, once I click on the App Store there is nothing I can do but swipe left and right. There's absolutely nothing at the bottom of the screen like a features tab, nothing. There is, however, a categories button at the top, but that's it. Irrelevant.

FWIW, I just got off the phone with Apple technical support about this.  I use Genuis for creating playlists, so I don't want to disable it, but Apple support confirmed that there is no way to avoid syncing Genius data without disabling Genius altogether.  I'd read somewhere else that subscribing to iTunes Match might allow you to avoid this, but that is NOT the case, as I've confirmed, and Apple support has confirmed.  For me, it routinely syncs thousands genius of items, so I have to allow a lot of time for my manual syncs.

How do I turn off location services on the iPhone 6?
Yes I already went to Settings > Privacy > Location Services, is not allowing me to turn it off.
And yes I have disable the restrictions too.

When I tapped the screen, there was a symbol on the left that looked like arrows going in a circle and on the right were the arrows crossed. The crossed arrows were orange, when I tapped this orange symbol, it turned to white and the songs STOPPED shuffle.

  • How can I turn off location tracking by Apple?

How can I turn off location tracking by Apple? Is is possible to roll the software back prior to Apple installing location tracking? I am very unhappy with this change by Apple. I know they probably included a reference to it in one of the user agreements, but this should have been clearly stated and offered a way to opt out. Anyway, any help on this would be appreciated.

Yeah, I do see your point. I personally feel perfectly safe using my iPhone wherever I go however I would consider that my usage is a lot less than the average user. I've had the phone for a year and have only made a total of 5 hours worth of calls and have only taken it out of my city one or twice. So for me I don't see any privacy concerns.
From reading the privacy statement though it seems that Apple are adamant that the collection of the geographical data etc is 99% personal information free. They use the term "non-personal information" and for that 1% where someone's personal information does somehow become mingled with their geographical location/movements etc Apple state that this information would be handled as though it was your credit card details or your social security number etc until such time as it's no longer combined.
"If we do combine non-personal information with personal information the combined information will be treated as personal information for as long as it remains combined."
But, I do agree with the fact that Apple really should have made us more aware of this. Instead we have found out through scientists and their research... that, coupled with the fact that no other smartphone collects this information hasn't helped either.
I will continue to use my iPhone as normal though... I am personally confident in Apple's commitment to privacy. I know not all share this view and that's fine. We all have our own perceptions of the implications of technology...
To answer your question about rolling back your software though that can be done. Might be a bit of a headache though and I'm not the best person to help with that. I'm sure there's some good information here though. Good luck!

  • HT1430 How do I turn off the data when I am not in a WiFi location? I noticed that I am using data when the phone is "on" and I am not in a WiFi situation, but not on the internet. So, how do I turn off the data?

How can I turn off the LTE data when I am someplace where there is not WiFi and I do not want my LTE running up a bill? I have tracked my usage and realize that the LTE is being used even when I am not using it, just because the phone is turned on.

Merely being on should not use any data.  You must have something running - something using push notifications, or push email, prhaps?
So, you can either track down what is using the data and change it, or you could go in and disaple cellular data in your settings.
One other thing to check is
Settings -> General -> About -> Diagnostic and Usage data -> set it to "Don't Send"
Settings -> Restrictions -> Location Services -> System Services -> turn all these "OFF" (this will not affect how you use your phone at all, but will stop any outgoing location information being sent periodically back to Apple).

How can I turn off the large blue location circle in apple maps, MacBook Pro 15 (2011)?  It is to large.  At times I need to  zoom into my home location, but the large blue circle hides the location I need.

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

  • How do I turn off Facebook text messages?

    Hello,
I really don't know where to ask this question, so I hope I'm posting it in the right location. I transitioned from the iPhone 3GS to the new iPhone 4S. On my older iPhone, I NEVER received text messages from Facebook (which is a good thing). However, now that I am using the 4S, I am constantly getting bombarded with text messages from Facebook. They are "notifications", ie, when someone posts to my wall or if someone responds to a comment that I made.
I don't know if this is something that is controlled from the Facebook web page (using Safari on my iMac), or if it is controlled from the Facebook app on my iPhone, or if it is controlled from "Settings" or "Notifications" on the iPhone. I have tried all of these places and turned everything off. All notifications for Facebook are in the "OFF" position. I am at my wit's end because this stupid thing is waking me up in the middle of the night with Facebook text messages.
If anyone can help me in finding out how to turn this feature off, I would sure appreciate it. Thanks!

Okay, it has been a few hours and I have not had a single text message from Facebook. WHEW!!
It had to be your suggestion that fixed it. I don't know how I missed turning off that one notification, but I guess that's what did the trick. They have made this notification stuff a bit confusing, becasue there are multiple areas where you can go in and turn stuff on and offf, and you really can't tell what it is you're doing until it's too late.
Thanks again for your help. I will mark this question as "Answered".

  • Satellite A660 How can i turn off the lighting of the power button?

Hello, I recently bought a new Toshiba A660-1FL.
However bothers me is the lighting of the multimedia keys, if I work in the dark.
In Bios I could turn off the led illumination, but the power on/off button is still lighting, that distracts me when i am working.
This notebook has two power LED, so the power on lighting is in my opinion, unnecessary.
My question is: How can i turn off the lighting of the power button?

Here you can see the LED with the same function in front of you: http://s3.imgimg.de/uploads/t009aae62jpg.jpg
Yes in fact, the difference is color, design, but also location and brightness of the LED.
For me, this LED is too bright and it is distracting in the dark, as you can see here: http://s3.imgimg.de/uploads/leddf570760jpg.jpg
I was today at a local electronics store, and saw that Toshiba has the brightest Power LED on A660, but why it must be placed under the LCD and not in the front as in my old notebook Toshiba A210.
I also had the idea with a tape, but it would look ugly, and it must be removable without residue.
P.S. Also the fingerprints on the glossy keyboard do not look nice.

  • How do I turn off pop-up blocker on new iPad if it is "greyed out" in safari settings?

How do I turn off pop-up blocker on new iPad if it is "greyed out" in safari settings?

'''Diego Victor''', this is for Firefox on Android. The Tools->Options is for Firefox on Windows only.
I think the only way still that you can turn of popup blocker on Android version is in '''about:config'''
    Try this.
Type '''about:config''' in the Location (address) bar and filter for '''dom.disable_open_during_load''' and set it to '''false'''.
After you are done you should enable the popup blocker again.

  • How do you turn OFF faces in Iphoto?

How do you turn OFF faces in Iphoto? I hate it.

When I collapse it the face boxes go away, but next thing I know it's expanded again.
    Try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder (Snow Leopard and Earlier).
or with Lion and Mt. Lion from the User/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto/
    Data/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder
3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE:  In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
