How do I turn off Photoshop CS6 (PhotoshopCS6.Exe)

have just purchased CS6 and tried to update but once started a box came up asking me to turn off Photoshop CS6 (Photoshop. Exe) which means nothing to me where do I find it to turn it off. Help please

On windows systems you can use the three fingered salute (ctrl-alt-delete) to bring up the task manager. Click on the processes tab. Look through the list for photoshop CS6. Right click on it and select end process or you can just click on it and press the end process button at the bottom of the dialog box.
If it is not listed then it is not running.

  • How do I turn off Photoshop Elements Welcome Tour?

Everytime I start Photoshop Elements 8 I get stuck in an endless loop of the "Welcome to Photoshop Elements" screen.  There is no close button or link.  The only way I have found to get past it is by clicking on "Show me what is new", then "Start Tour" then clicking the right arrow until a GO link appears.  Then it finally closes.  I have to do this every time I start Photoshop and it is annoying to say the least.  Any help would be appreciated.
A second issue is with the "Backup/sync".  Somehow this got turned on, and it uploaded 2 gig of my photos to somewhere in cyberspace.  Now when I start Photoshop it always nags me to buy more space online.  Since backup just causes an hourglass when you start Elements, I had to go to the task manager and kill the upload/sync 32 process manually, then turn off the backup sync in preferences, but still the message to buy more space online appears.  Also, can I remove the uploaded files?  I didn't want them uploaded in the first place.
    I miss Elements 5.0 already...
    Thanks again,
    Mike

    Thanks Bob,
Unfortunately the window is modal, so there is no way to move it or remove it's focus.  Esc / Enter / Tab does nothing, but you can endure the entire "tour" before you get to a "Go" button which ironically closes the form.
I believe the backup issue is compounded by the fact that I have Premiere Elements as well.  What appears to be happening is that I turn the Backup/Sync off in Photoshop Elements, and the next time I launch Premiere Elements the Backup/Sync is turned back on (athough I swear I turned it off there also).
I did take your advice and just leave the backup on, but uncheck "Backup" for each of the albums except for 1 which has a photo of my cat, which I am OK if it get's posted on one of Adobe's servers somewhere.  The annoying part is that my catalog has over 18,000 photos taking up 240 gig, and it takes the backup/sync page 1 hour to open, then another hour to uncheck the "Media Not in any Album" checkbox.  2 hours later, I think I'm in business.
By the way, I think it's cool that you and other people on the forum are willing to help out frustrated users like me.  I appreciate it very much.   : )

  • How can I turn off the 2 blue lines running vertically in my image in Photoshop?

How can I turn off the 2 blue lines running vertically through my image in Photoshop? I want to save my work but do not know if these lines will persist in the saved image.

I assume the Rulers are showing. In that case, to get rid of each line use the Move tool to straddle the line and drag it whence it came. I really didn't need to add this comment but it is the first time in years I have had a chance to use the word "whence".
Is this a guide I see before me? Doeth it conspire to confuseth mine eyes with sapphire lines that afoul my worthy parchment, and draw my quill from its righteous path? Be gone foul guide from whence thou cometh.  Verily, forsooth, and hey nonny nonny.

How do I turn off the alt scroll zoom?
When I'm in Adobe photoshop and illustrator using the pen tool, alt is utilized for another short cut.  I would like to use the alt command for the pen tool instead of zooming into the screen.

I tend to select things from left to right and every time I am moving in a downward right diagonal motion during lasso selection I am missing a clear view and I am tending to have a more sloppy selection.  All this does is slow me down since I need to go back and hit those areas again.  The big arrowhead just get's in the way.  The original lasso tool with the thin line and small active point at it's lower left was far better for me.
I don't like turning the cursors to precise because I like to see the active tool icon where my cursor is and as the icon changes as I hold modifier keys down.  If I am forced to get comfortable with using pricise cursors I guess I will, but man, I've never had to do this in my 15 years of photoshop use...
I would absolutely LOVE to find a way to get the old lasso icon -- without the arrowhead above it.
Is there any chance this option could be inlcuded in cursor preferences?  I'd give much thanks, Adobe.

  • How can I turn off the yellow pop-up tool tips?

    Howdy,
I have searched high and low in the preferences and found nothing that does the trick. How can I turn off the yellow pop-up tool tips?
See attached screen shot. They are incredibly annoying. It's probably obvious, but I cannot find it anywhere on internets or this forum.
    Thanks!

Thanks Nancy. Unfortunately that doesn't do it. I turned those off awhile back. Nor can I find anything under VIEW that seems to make a difference.  Just FYI: I'm on a Mac OS w/Dreamweaver CS6 - but this has happened on previous versions of DW. Thanks again.

  • How do I turn off color management in my Epson Stylus Photo R1900

How do I turn off color management in my Epson Stylus Photo R1900 printer? I am using the laetest Epson driver, I am using Adobe Photoshop CS5 and I'm using OSX 10.5.8.
    Thanks
    Joe

I have researched the matter a lot and I,
along with many others, still have problems with this complicated
    subject.
Color management is as simple in theory as Honoring a Source Profile and CONVERTING it to a Target Profile (monitor or printer) for Proofing.
But yes, we work at the mercy of the rocket scientists who try to dumb an extremely complicated process down so regular folks (like me) can make it work — trouble is I think their approach needs a bit more distilling and common sense sometimes...but it is very doable once you put in the time to figure it out, just follow the CHAIN in your workflow if you're still having problems.
If you want a "simple button" try staying in sRGB and printing out of Apple Preview app using OEM standard papers matched to your printer and OEM ink set.

  • How do you turn off the auto select behavior when working with shape layers?

How do you turn off the auto select behavior when working with shape layers?
I am using either of the path selection tools to select only some of the paths on the layer. I have the proper layer targeted. I have the selection too auto select option turned off.
If another layer has a path in that area, that layer becomes auto targeted and I get the wrong path. Turning off the layer is the only way to avoid this but then I have to  turn on the layer back on between making my selection and transforming to use the other layer as guide. Is there any way to stop this auto select? Locking the other layer does not stop the auto select, just prevents editing.

As far as i know the move tool options don't have any effect on the path selection tools.
You might try clicking on one of the path points or on the path itself with one of path selection tools and if you want to select multiple points
you can shift click with the Direct Selection Tool or Alt click to select the entire path.

  • When I open my image, it is covered with tiny coloured dots.  how do I turn off this view?

when I open my image, it is covered with tiny coloured dots.  how do I turn off this view? i've used photoshop for years and never encountered this.  i looked at the histogram for some means of turning it off, but no luck.  help

The issue I think is connected to the colour profile, and the 8,16, or 32 bit image mode option.  In the past, my images have come from lightroom as 16 bit files and I've never had any issues.  I guess I'm not very adept at the file handling aspect of this program.  I shoot in RAW and like to play around with my photos, then print them.  I was under the impression I should be using the srgb colour selection not RGB, but then I've read I should change it to RBG once I'm ready to save the file to print.  I also changed my files over the 8 bit from 16 once I saved the after using photoshop.

  • How do I turn off the automated Adobe Cloud ID window that opens everytime I turn on my computers.  Do NOT subscribe to CC. HELP.

How do I turn off the automated Adobe Cloud ID window that opens every time I turn on my computers.  I want this annoying window to stop appearing.  I do not and will not subscribe to "Adobe Cloud" but the program (all 197 MB) somehow found it's way onto both my computers.  Nefarious at the least.
I'm afraid to uninstall the "adobe cloud" programs from my computers because I fear that they are linked to my stand alone version of cs6 and my somehow corrupt the operation of my cs6.
    HELP.  PLEASE.

Have you installed any trial of Adobe CC because in all probability the auto prompt to purchase CC appears when the trial run ends.?
The stand alone version of CS6 is not going to be affected if you uninstall the trial CC.

  • How do I turn off autosave osx lion

How do I turn off autosave on osx lion? Just got new MacBook pro & autosave crashes Photoshop adobe when I'm doing large format design! This is a designers worst nightmare having autosave. Because you can do some work, then change your mind , but it's too late, autosave has saved over your work! Great for small files like text, but design large files? If you can't turn off autosave then apple can kiss goodbye to all it's design clients which is alot of there buyers I would imagine. Can you turn it off please help?

I have no way of knowing what Apple will do in the future. You can certainly report you wishes at
    Apple Feedback.
As for "oversight," I'd say it was yours, not Apple's. Should have done a little more research before you purchased. This "issue" is nothing new.

  • How do I turn off fluid grid layout guides in CC?

In CS6 it was simple: just go to View > Visual Aids and uncheck "Fluid grid layout guides" In CC that option is not there. And I can't seem to find it. So how do I turn off fluid grid layout guides in CC?

AFAIK, There is no option for you to turn off just FG Layout Guides in DW CC (for now).
However, you can hide the guides with just 1 click. See screenshot below:
This button toggles FG View. Disabling it will hide the FG guides that you see on screen.

I am unhappy with iCloud for a number of reasons. I want to go back to backing up my music to an external HD, storing music on my devices, and turn off iCloud.
How do I turn off iCloud? I have iTunes on a PC.
    THANKS

Current Firefox versions remember the download directory based upon the URL, so if the URL changes then the default folder may be chosen if there hasn't been selected a download folder before for that server.

Bug 536503 - Last downloaded-to directory should be remembered on a site-by-site basis
Firefox 11 will have a workaround by providing a pref (browser.download.lastDir.savePerSite) to disable this feature.
