How do I turn off tabs in Safari 3.0.4?

None of the tabs check-boxes are checked in Preferences and I selected View>Hide Tab Bar. When I click on a bookmark folder, the tab bar appears and Safari attempts to load every site in the folder. Is there any way of turning this off?!! Thanks!

Hi
Click on the Book Icon to open your Bookmarks Manager. There, look for the folder you are attempting to access. You'll see a column titled "auto-click". Uncheck it. Close the Bookmarks Manager by again clicking on the Book Icon. Try the folder again from your Bookmarks Bar.

  • How can I turn off tabbed browsing in Firefox 4.0 running in windows 7? I don't want tabs at all. If it can't be done, how can I go back to a previous version?

I upgraded to 4.0 and now everything wants to open in a new tab. I don't want tabs at all. How do I turn them off? I have to use IE at work and have no problem turning off tabs there, but I haven't found the way to get rid of tabs in Firefox 4.0.

That is not standard behavior. You may have installed an extension that causes it.
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

  • How can I turn off "Tabs" completely?

My Firefox just updated to the latest version. In all previous versions I was able to turn off tabbed browsing, but can not seem to find that option in the latest version. I absolutely HATE tabs. One of the reasons I continued to use Firefox was that I could shut the tabs off. If this is the way the Firefox browser is heading I will have to discontinue using it on all of our computers. We use multiple screens so that we can have any new windows pop up on the second screen and easily close them without disrupting the original browser window. Also we like to keep the browser bar at the top of the screen minimized as much as possible. With the tab bar in the way it causes the browser bar to take up too much valuable screen space. Please add the option to remove tabbed browsing back in.

  • Just updated my iPad to ios5. How can I turn off tabbed browsing in Safari?

My wife just updated her iPad to ios5 because of problems with Safari. Now she cannot see her previous web pages as she could in ios4. Instead she sees tabbed browsing which she hates. Can tabbed browsing be turned off and Safari restored to the way it used to work? Are there any alternatives/
    Thanks.

You can't turn it off. Sorry. Take a look at iCab Mobile. It's another browser that's available in the App Store. It has both tabs and thumbnails (and tons of other neat features).

  • How do I turn off tab groups. See details below.

Ok, I don't like the bloody Tab Group feature. I have tabs across the top and now I can't click on a tab to go to that Web Page. I have to go to the right on the down arrow. I need to turn off this bloddy Tab grouping. I am about ready to delete FireFox for this reason and go to Chrome or Opera or stay with Safari for this reason. Any help appreciated. Seems like Mozilla took 1 step forward and 2 steps back with this feature. Good idea in principle but created other problems.See in question above. Running an iMac dual core.

I like them. I want them to stay attached and open all of them when I open FF.
I just wish there was a way to lock them at a particular point.
Occasionally, I mistakenly close a batch of tabs from my second screen... when I close my primary screen, it forgets the second screen tabs, and I have to reopen and regroup the tabs I closed by mistake when I re-open FF...
I love tabs and wish there was a way to keep them in spite of the fact that I might occasionally close them in the wrong sequence by mistake from time to time ...
Any recommendations for locking the tab groups once configured?

  • How do I turn off autocomplete in Safari

I am using Safari 5.0.1 on a Win7 64-bit PC.  I have several major problems with this.
One is a petty annoyance, perhaps, but it drives me up the wall!  I CANNOT turn off the autocomplete when I am in the address bar.  I DO NOT USE AUTOCOMPLETE, and don't like it.  It interferes with my typing and concentration.
DO NOT TELL ME to use it.  I refuse.
I need to know how to turn it off!  I can do it in both IE and Firefox, so why can't I do it in Safari?
    Jim

You can also set the Boolean pref <b>browser.urlbar.autoFill</b> to <i>false</i> on the <b>about:config</b> page if you want to keep using the drop down list.

  • How can I turn off alert that Safari downloaded this application?

A simple question, with what I'm sure will be a simple answer, but I just can't work it out. I have only just bought an iMac, running Leopard. Using Safari, I downloaded Firefox. Now every time I open Firefox, I receive an alert that says something like "You are about to open Firefox which is an application Safari downloaded from the internet". Usually with these sort of alerts there's a box that you can check that says "don't remind me about this again", but not so in this case.
Where do I go, please, to turn off this alert. As friendly as it is, I don't feel I need to be reminded that I downloaded this application from the internet via Safari, every time I open it up...
    Many thanks.

    Security.
You can check a box in Safari preferences to open "Safe" files after downloading but Applications are not one of them.

  • Turning off tabs in safari?

How do I get rid of tabs in Safari on iPad?

Safari on iOS 5 uses tabbed browsing, and not the thumbnail/page browsing as on previous iOS versions, and it can't be changed. If you want thumbnail browsing to be an option then you could try leaving feedback : http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html

  • How to turn off tabs in safari

Safari is not spawing new windows, but is spawing new "tabs" instead.  Anyone know how to disable this?  It's very annoying.

Only by not updating. But then you'll start having trouble with apps that require 5.0 or higher.
There may be some 3rd-party browsers in the App Store that support the multiple windows view rather than the tabs.

  • How do I turn off tab groups? It forces the same tabs to reopen in next session

I upgraded to 6.0.1 and experimented with the tab groups. Now I cannot turn it off. It seems to force the same tabs to be opened with the next session. I had (and still have) the warn me when I close multiple tabs. It overrides that option if I click the close the window. It just closes the firefox window and reopens all the tabs with the next session. This nullifies the best feature that firefox had over chrome.
Please help me to get my old Firefox back...

  • How do I turn off frequently visited in safari new tab.

How do I turn off frequently visited in safari new tab.  Note, I still want favorites to show.  But I feel it is inappropriate for safari to track frequently visited sites.  I wish I could use private browsing more, but I hate that keychain doesn't work in private mode.  Also, why can't I turn history completely off?

To turn on private browsing, tap Safari, then tap in the lower-right corner. Tap Private to turn private browsing on.
Note: If you're using an iPad, tap , then Private.
Tap again > turn off private.

  • How can I turn off Recently Websites when opening new Safari window? After tapping on the two overlapping boxes on the bottom right of Safari, a new blank window appears with Favorites, but now in iOS 8, recently viewed websites are listed.

How can I turn off Recently Visited Websites when opening new Safari window?
After tapping on the two overlapping boxes on the bottom right of Safari, a new blank window appears with Favorites, but now in iOS 8, recently viewed websites are listed. How can I turn this function off? I do NOT want my new Safari windows to have history displayed of previous websites I visited. I only want my Favorites (on the top) to be displayed. Please help.
Thank you for your time, patience, understanding, kindness, and concern.

Thanks for replying, but that isn't the answer I am looking for.  Also, there is no + sign, UNLESS you do tap the overlapping boxes.
Let me try to ask my question a little more clearly:
When I tap the two overlapping boxes on the lower left (the option to Open New Windows), the new Window that appears will show your Bookmarked FAVORITES. But with my new iPhone 6, and the new iOS 8.0.2, when I tap the two boxes to open a New Window, my Bookmark Favorites show (as they always have and should), but below them, there is a dividing line underneath them, and it says Recently Viewed Websites, and has these websites available to tap.
So my question is, HOW DO I TURN THESE OPTION OFF?
*UPDATE  (10.13.14): Since I have asked this question, I no longer see these Recently Viewed Websites under my Bookmarked Favorites in my new Window tabs. So I hope that Apple fixed it, or somehow it was a mistake, or somehow I changed an Option on my iPhone 6 that stopped this for reoccurring.
Thank you for your help bobseufert! I appreciate your concern, kindness, and the time to try to help. I am grateful.
    Have a blessed day.
