How do I turn off the window maximizing feature when I click the top window frame?

Clicking on the top window frame causes Firefox to maximize. This is the only program I have that does this, so I am constantly doing this accidentally. It causes me no end of annoyance, having to minimize the Firefox window every time to see the other window I am using at the same time. Is there a way of turning this "feature" off? I have looked through all controls tabs I can find, and the help files on the Firefox website, and can find no answers to this.

Unintended consequences ... my favorite kind! New information - this appears to be a Windows issue - sorry Mozilla. Another app (Word) just started doing the same thing (previously only observed with Firefox). If the app is too close to the top of screen, and you select it, and slightly move it, it maximizes. I heard this is standard in Windows 7, but I am using XP. This is becoming typical of the annoying hubris of Microsoft that will likely make my next OS Linux. I am not blind, and in need of Microsoft making a single window maximally readable, especially at the expense of all the other windows. If I wanted my computer to make all of my decisions for me, I would have stuck with Apple!

How do I turn off background ni file activity when not using Labview? I use labview rarely, and I also use my computer for demanding multimedia applications, including multitrack digital audio recording. I need to reduce as much background activity as possible, and taking a look with task manager I see files such as nimxs.exe, nipalsm.exe, nipalsm.exe, nisvcloc.exe, and nicitdl5.exe running even when I haven't used Labview (8 I believe). These files run even after I right click the NI icon on the lower right and turn off the application. I would like the computer to boot up without these files, and for the necessary files to be activated only when I start the program.
Can this be done or do I have to remove labview from the system to improve performance?

Hello, those processes are part of running NI services that start when Windows boots. These processes serve varied purposes and stopping them can have undefined and unknown consiquences for your NI products. These products run at "normal" priority meaning that they should be preempted by any process running at a higher priority which I would expect your other application to be doing given their time sensitivity. That being said, in Windows XP (I can't speak for other OSes), you can lower their priorities even greater through task manager (right click the process»set priority) to further remove them from contention for resources. If you want to prevent them from running you can set the service startup type to "manual" in Control Panel»Administrative Tools»Services. Right click the process go to Properties and Under the General tab choose Startup Type»Manual. This will start up the processes only when something directly starts it up. LabVIEW will start these processes up as it attempts to use them. When you shut down LabVIEW you will need to manually shut down these processes through task manager. Again, doing this can cause problems with your NI products on your system and it is not advised.

you can login to ICM with username Administrator and password abc123. That is described in the start.html file, which you can find in the unzipped Downloadpackage of SAP NetWeaver Java EE 5 Edition.
You can use NetWeaverAdministrator(NWA) or config tool to configure this edition. NWA
needs to be installed separately. If you have a default installation, go to
C:SAPJP1JC00j2eeNWAdmin and execute the file install.bat. Ensure that NetWeaver is running, enter user Administrator und the Masterpassword you chose during installation and wait around 20 Minutes or more. NWA is started automatically after installation has finished in your webbrowser.

the first time this came up i went into icloud on my computer and removed the old phone from there but from what ive read it will only be properly removed when the fone gets turned back on.

How do I turn off the preference to open iPhoto when a camera is connected? Especially when an iPad or iPhone is connected. I've tried trashing the iPhoto.plist and lockfile but it still turns on.

How can I turn off lots of failure popups when starting my mac?

Dear community!
Everytime I change my network, I get failure popups caused by missing server connection. How can I turn these messages off?
I know the reason: at work I have lots of connections to different server and of course I don't have them at home.
It's boring to click up to 10 times at these error popups to close them.
Does anybody know how I can solve this issue?

Please take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Back up all data before making any changes.
Step 1
Boot in safe mode.
Log in and see whether you still have the problem. If you don't, it's caused by one of your login items or a system modification that loads at startup or login. Ask if you need help identifying it. A common offender is "Adobe Synchronizer," which is a component of some Adobe products.
Step 2
Triple-click the line below to select it, then copy the text to the Clipboard (command-C):
~/Library/PDF Services
In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return. A folder may open. If it does, move the contents to the Desktop, or to a new folder on the Desktop. Log out and log back in. Test. If there's no change, put the items you moved back where they were and continue.
Step 3
Open the folder
~/Library/Preferences
as in Step 2 and move the following items in that folder to the Trash, if they exist:
com.apple.recentitems.plist
loginwindow.plist
Log out and back in again, and test.
Step 4
Other possible causes are references in the iPhoto, iTunes, or iMovie library pointing to the server, and bookmarks in the Preview application.
Try rebuilding the iPhoto library.

I've noticed in the past couple of days that when I log-in to my outlook email page that it shows the new 'skype for web (beta) icon at the top right of the messenger pane instead of the old message link. How do I turn this off and go back to the old version as I don't like the new skype for web and much prefer the old style message pane? I have noted that when I open my People page or OneDrive page that the old version still shows there, so why can't I turn it off in my email page and go back to the original pane? Hi Claudius,, Thanks for replying. You asked what I preferred about the old message pane. I just preferred how it looked. You could see automatically from your contact list who was online as the call/video icons showed clearly beside their name and if you simply wanted to send an IM, you just selected the contact and the IM box would appear at the bottom. I just don't like how the new skype for web looks at the side of your Outlook email page as I don't like the layout. I know it all comes down to personal preference and mine is for the old version. I don't understand why they have to keep making changes to things. The way I see it is, if something isn't broke, why break it? The old version worked perfectly well and I preferred it but we, the users, don't get a say in anything because the people who make these decisions just go ahead and change things no matter what. Thanks for clearing this up for me. I had hoped you could just turn it off and revert back to the old message pane but you say this isn't possible which is unfortunate. Regards, Linda

How can I turn off 3 finger swiping and 3 finger clicking that opens Desktop?

I've got a problem that's driving me mad.
Every now and again I accidentally swipe my Magic Mouse, or click it with 3 fingers, and it pushes all the windows to the top and side, and goes into 'Desktop', it's really very annoying and there's no option to turn this off. I'm not 100% sure what gesture is causing this, but I juts want to turn the option to go to Desktop off, or the mouse will have to go in the bin.
I've downloaded Magic Prefs, but it doesn't seem to help.
Anyone got any ideas?

The only gesture that is stand is the two finger tap the goes to mission control. You can turn that off in System Preferences > mouse.
Also check the second column in System Preferences > Mission control > Show Desktop:
Set to "-" as a secondary click here could cause the issue.

I've downloaded firefox on my laptop, but I have windows 8. When I click on a windows 8 tile it takes me to the windows desktop to open the app.

I still want to use my windows 8 tiles, but when I'm doing a web search I'd like to use firefox. I don't know the actual technological term for going from the Windows 8 tiles to the "old format" windows desktop, but I must have chosen the wrong settings for what I wanted. I hope this makes sense.
Primarily I don't like the navigation toolbar and the task bar to show when I'm on Facebook, for example. This is why I want to use the Windows 8 tiles for some things and firefox for others.
Is there a place I can adjust the setting?
