How do I turn off timed screen switching?

While showing a video in class (Quicktime - full screen - mirrored desktop to projector) the screen switches away from Quicktime (to the Finder screen I think). This happens repeatedly at 9:00 AM so I'm assuming it is somehow tied to an event.  I do have a 9:00 AM event in my calendar and BusyCal but it doesn't have an alarm turned on.
I have tried to address this with Notifications. I turning on Do Not Disturb between 8:45 AM and 11: and also put a check in the box for "when Mirroring."
Any suggestions for how I can keep the screen from switching away from the Quicktime movie?

At the risk of being super--obvious, can I suggest you try turning off those 9am events and see if that solves the problem?  If you are busy watching a movie at that time, any event notification probably isn't going to help you anyway.  I realise you may not wish to delete that (presumably recurring) event but at least then you will know if the event is causing the problem.
Hope that helps.
Ivan

    Thanks.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can't. Mirroring is just what it says, it mirrors exactly what is on your computer screen, if there is nothing on your computer screen, that's what you will see on your TV screen.

I upgraded to Windows10. How do I turn off Touch Screen ; My ACER Aspire is cracked. ThanX!

    Hi roger,
It appears that the option isn't available in Windows 10 as it was in Windows 8. You can try going into the Device Manager, expand Human Interface Devices and disable HID-compliant touch screen. This worked for me. I did a restart and it did not enable on it's own. In the mean time, I'm asking our content team to review and publish content as necessary.

  • How do I turn off the screen lock feature on my IPhone 4S?

How do I turn off the lock screen feature on my IPhone4S?

You mean the passcode lock, or just the generic lock that requires no passcode?
For passcode lock, go Settings > General > Passcode Lock, enter your passcode, and then disable the feature.
For normal screen lock, go to Settings > General > Auto-Lock, and set it to 'Never'.
Now your iPhone will only screen lock when you press the 'Sleep/Wake' button.

  • How can I turn off the screen while keeping the mac awake?

I am using teamviewer to remote connect to my office Imac from home. However, every time I connected, my imac screen will turn on and everyone else in the office can see what my imac is doing..
Is there some method to turn off the screen while keeping the mac awake, so I can remote connect to it?
PS: I am using OSX 10.7.3

Energy Saver, you can keep the computer awake while the screen saver shuts the monitor off but I'm not sure that would do it for you.

  • How do I turn off Home Sharing / Switch Back to Local Library?

Last night I turned ON Home Sharing on my iPhone and switched (in the Music/iPod app) my library on the phone to use the Shared Library on my iMac.  It  works great and I have no issues, except...
Now, that I am away from home (and my network), I am unable to access any of the locally stored content on my iPhone and I can't figure out a way to change the library back to the local (iPhone) media library as the "Shared" button doesn't appear while I am not connected.
Am I stuck in the Shared Library until I get home and connect to my home share or is there a way to make the switch back to local storage while not connected?

I found a similar thread and it has answered my question.

Restarting the phone will reset it back to the local library.  It works, but as the other thread points out it seems a little silly that you can't do it without a restart.

  • How do I turn off the screen lighting at night when bugs are nasty.

I listen to streaming radio at night, but the computer screen attracts lots of bugs, so very big ones.  How do I dim the screen to zero light?

In System Preferences>Energy Saver you could set the Display to sleep after a very short time.
Not sure what OS you are running (10.4?) but you could set up a 'hot corner' to sleep the screen on demand (in Lion or Mountain Lion): System Preferences>Mission Control, click on the Hot Corners button, choose a screen corner and from the drop-down menu select 'Put display to sleep'. Dragging the mouse to that corner will instantly sleep the display.

  • How do I turn off full screen and get my toolbar back? There is no firefox symbol anymore.

I (unwittingly) clicked "full screen" in a simple attempt to get my favorites bar back after (stupidly) installing the new (and annoying) version of Firefox. It has filled up the screen so well that I don't have any toolbar above, the regular settings on my desktop below, nor do I have a Firefox symbol I can click on to fix things. I tried uninstalling, reinstalling, nothing helps. No toolbar at all. I have to put my cursor (which, by the way, mysteriously jumps anywhere while I'm typing) at the top of the screen just to see the address bar. "Control minus" doesn't help. Any suggestions?? Thanks!!

You can hover the mouse to the top to make the Navigation Toolbar and Tab bar appear.
You can click the Maximize button at the top right to leave full screen mode or right click empty space on a toolbar and use "Exit Full Screen Mode"

    Hi:
Unfortunately you cannot remove the top sites homepage but you can pin a site, remove a site by unpinning it and edit a pinned site's url.

  • How can I turn off the screen saver on the iMac??

I went to system Prefences - Sceen saver and wen to the Hot corner. Disabled all the hot corner and the sceen saver is still on ???
What else can I do ??
    Thanks for your help.

    From the menu bar, select
     ▹ System Preferences... ▹ Energy Saver ▹ Power
If there's a closed padlock icon in the lower left corner of the preference pane, you may need to click it to unlock the settings. Enter your login password when prompted.
Move the Display sleep slider to the right so that the display sleeps after the screen saver starts.

    Hi j2399123,
It sounds like your screen recording is doing what it was designed to do, capture what is happening on your screen, with optional voice over with the microphone.
Screen recording is for recording what you see on the screen, it is not a "video capture" option, like for capturing a movie with sound that is playing on your screen.
For the QuickTime recording options, check out "Recording with QuickTime Player" in
Mac Basics: QuickTime Player creates, plays, edits, and shares video and audio files

And for screen recording specifically, there's
