How do I turn on video preview?

In selecting a video to open, I used to be able to preview videos. Now, previews will not open.

If the previews are part of a website, could you provide a link to the page that isn't working correctly? Also, I will paste some general suggestions below.
If the previews were part of a video download list, do you know which add-on it is? Some of them may need to be updated for Firefox 26 and late due to the changes in the way downloads are listed.
When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
(1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.
(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:
* right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
* Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

How do I turn off live preview during HDV firewire captures?

My cpu uses a lot of cpu during HDV captures, and I know that a lot of it has to do with the live preview (ie, the window that shows you what is being captured). How do i turn this live preview off? Thanks

If the metronome got recorded on your track from a mic with it coming out of your speakers (the only way it could have been recorded) there's no way to take it out. When you say you turned it off, did you just uncheck it in the control menu? Or did you go to the preferences and change its behavior there? I have mine set for recording only, not on playback. But if you turned it off in the control menu, then it should not be present, unless you inadvertently recorded it from your speakers as I described, and it is not going anywhere. This is one reason it is best to monitor your recording with headphones and not speakers, since anything that comes out of them will be recorded with a live mic close by.

How do I turn my video settings on to play a movie on the tv?

I have a red, yellow, white adaptor to connect my iPad to the tv to play movies. The directions say to turn the video output to "on" to be able to play the video on the television. When I go to video settings this is not an option. Does anyone know how I can get a video to play on the tv. I have an old tv too. So no wifi is available on it. This adaptor was working a few weeks ago when I last used it to watch midnight in Paris.

Some videos that are purchased from the iTunes store require HDCP (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hdcp) It's standard on HDMI and Blu-Ray players. If the video can't communicate with the device it's hooked up to, it will not play.
Since the composite cable you're using can't transmit HDCP (only HDMI cables can), you won't be able to play that video. This is a video-to-video selection, made by the studios.

Can't turn off video preview.

I like to view my folders and files in the "column" style. Back on Snow Leopard, in Finder when I would click on a video file, the preview column would appear. Originally, when it would appear, it would begin to load a preview of whatever video I'd clicked, and I found when it did this it would stall/freeze my computer for a few seconds, which I found annoying. Luckily you could click on the arrow next to "Preview" and it would hide the preview video and stop it from loading, therefore stopping the freezes.
However, now that I've moved to Mountain Lion, I can no longer hide that preview, so every time I click on a video in Finder, it starts up a preview and everything freezes, and there's no little arrow so I can't hide it.
I did find the option to completely hide the preview column, but I don't want to do that because there's a lot of information about files in the preview column (name, size, modified etc.). So, is there any way I can just turn off the video preview like I could before?

I have turned off email preview in settings, however the preview still remains.

Turning off the email preview in settings only removes the lines of text from the inbox list. Other discussion on this topic indicate there is currently no way to turn off the preview pane (window) that appears behind the list of emails on the left hand side.

Drag the divider between the message list and the preview pane all the way to the right. It will pause about a 3/4 of the way, but keep dragging and it will go all the way over.

How can I turn captured video into a DVD

I am a premiere newbie. Can anyone tell me the basic steps to take captured video (already can do..) and turn it into a DVD which can be read on a regular TV-DVD player.? OK, you've got your material Captured from your camera. It should appear in your Project Panel. At this point, your Timeline will be empty. This is where the editing comes in. I'll keep it simple, as there are a couple of ways to do this.
1.) from the Project Panel, drag each Video Clip to the Timeline's Video Track 1. The accompanying Audio wll come in with it, and should go to Audio Track 1, below that little "beltline," that separates your Video (above) and Audio (below).
2.) you can alter the Duration of your Clip by click-dragging on the Head, to shorten it there, or from the Tail, to shorten it there. If you have material that you wish to remove from anywhere but the Head or Tail, look in the Toolbox, usually to the lower-right, but it can be moved. There is a Razor icon. Place the CTI (Current Time Indicator - that little triangle with a red line, that moves when you hit the Spacebar) where you wish to Cut with the Razor. Click with the Razor selected and both Video and Audio will be sliced. Move to where you wish this extra footage to end, and do the same thing. Rt-click on this new "Clip" and Choose Ripple Delete. This will remove that segment and close up the other parts of the Clip. Repeat for all of the rest of your media Assets.
3.) add any Transitions, music, etc.
4.) when done, you will Export this to Adobe Encore for DVD authoring. There are several ways to do this, but Adobe Dynamic Link is probably the easiest way.
5.) in Encore (if you use DL all selected Timelines will come into that program w/ Audio and Video), you create your navigation with Menus (Encore has a full Library of these).
6.) Check Project
7.) when done, chose File>Burn to DVD.
Note: use good media, like Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden and burn at the slowest possible speed.
