  • How to I achieve great voice over audio for a macbook pro

Should I just plug in a mic? Do I need a external soundcard like the "apogee one" or is a USB mic a better solution?
I also play the guitar so maby one day I would like to record some guitar to, but in logic or similar.

Any mic, a quiet room and a good working knowledge of EQ. [The very best of the Logic plugins/"inserts" are in FCPX, btw.] If you don't have a quiet place (like me) then the very best -- BAR NONE -- noise reduction is in ScreenFlow - just take the default setting (80%). It's amazing - no "granular electronic" sound on the edges of quiet and sound like you get in just about everything else.
That said: Zoom mics are really quite good. Inexpensive (H1), portable, and can be used as a USB audio interface (mic and other sources). The S/N is incredibly high - there is no detectable noise in the recording at all - quiet is DEAD quiet. The H1 (as well as the H2 and H4)  has an extra audio input so you can actually use any other mic you like as the recording source, like... a Shure SM-58 (with XLR to 1/8 inch stereo connector).  This particular Shure mic is one of the most popular in the world for all kinds of applications (talk radio, singers, etc...). It will make you sound like "THE VOICE". And the H1 makes the Shure *very portable*. The Zoom mics will also accept Line level input, so you can record from your computer, a CD player, etc...
If you have an acoustic guitar, the H1 + a lavalier mic (Audio-Technica ATR-3350 for instance) clipped to the soundhole (so the mic is inside) sounds unexpectedly good — you decide: http://sight-creations.com/prv/audio/improv_030612_03.mp3 [production notes: strictly an improvised piece (not very good - but doesn't violate anyone's copyright; I was playing with and feeling out a new partial capo); "finished" in Logic with Space Designer>Medium Spaces>Nice Hall (toned down) + Adaptive Limiter (as a signal booster); no noise reduction used whatsoever, and the original source recorded outside on a breezy day with occasional traffic (none of which you will hear!)... I recorded at a lower level to keep extraneous noise out and since the S/N is so high, I can boost the signal in post without adding any unwanted hiss.]
[**I'm not fishing for comments about the music here, I'd rather not hear about it! ... just demo'ing a setup.]

  • How do I turn "erase mode" off in Find My Ipad

Left my iPad on a plane and after not being found for 6 days, I decided to put it in erase mode. The next day it was located and I don't want it to automatically erase when it automatically connects to my WiFi when I get it back. Any help as to how I can switch it back to just "lost mode" when it gets delivered ??

    Tap Settings. Then double-tap Settings.
    Tap General. Then double-tap General.
Use three fingers on the screen to scroll to Accessibility.

  • Ipod Nano touch - voice over off, but still talks.

    Hello,
I bought my boyfriend the ipod nano multi-touch back in March. We couldn't seem to get the voice to stop interrupting our music. Then one day my boyfriend calls me down to the car to hear something weird... So, I go down and the ipod was going crazy. Over our car speakers it was playing a song for about 3 seconds and then giving all the info about the song, then it changed the song and did this over and over again. We took it to apple and they took it into the back for a few minutes. When they came back they said that they heard what it was doing when they plugged in their headphones to the ipod. They also said that they turned the voice over off and that was our problem.... okay that was about a month ago. Now... its doing all over again! The bizarre thing is that the voice over is off... we've done the restart and the resetting but nothing seems to be working. When the voice over thing isn't going crazy, it skips songs with out us touching it... This is very frustrating! If anybody has any idea how to fix this or any information on if apple can help or replace please let me know.
                                     Thank you!

Something is shorting out inside the iPod or something is shorting out the headset you are using, if it has buttons on the wire.
Even if voiceover is turned off, you can still make a 6th Gen Nano speak. What you are hearing is the track information. The nano will speak this to you if you press and hold the button on your headset (assuming you have a headset with buttons). If water gets into those buttons, it can cause the button to act like it is being pressed, pressed and held, etc.
This can also happen if moisture gets inside the Nano.
Does this only happen after exercise? Has it gotten wet?
First, make sure it gets totally dried out. You can put it in a baggie with some rice to dry it out - just make sure none of the rice gets into the headset jack!

  • How do I disable voice over from my ipad while it's locked?

How can I disable voice over from my ipad while it's locked? I accidentally activated it on my mum's ipad and now she's panicking! Haven't been able to put in her password so a little bit of help asap would be appreciated. Tried double tapping the passcode in but still didn't work! Thanks

How did you turn it on, via Settings or a triple-click of the home button ? You could try triple-clicking the home button and see if that turns it off, and if it does you can then change what a triple-click does via Settings > General > Accessibility > Triple-Click Home.
If that doesn't turn it off then you can either turn it off directly on the iPad (you need to use a tap-to-select and then double-tap to activate/type process and 3 fingered scrolling ; so to type a digit of the passcode tap the digit so that it gets a box around it and then double-tap it to type it) to go into Settings > General > Accessibility and turn VoiceOver 'off', or you can do it by connecting to your computer's iTunes : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4064

Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps BEFORE doing the reset.

  • How do you turn the cloud OFF on an iPhone 4s?

How do you turn the cloud OFF on an iPhone 4s? I don't use the cloud, but my phone keeps telling me there's not enough storage to back my phone up.

iCloud is probably being used to store your Contacts so perhaps you really just want to turn off iCloud backups. Use the Settings app.
Settings > iCloud > Turn off Backup
After you turn off iCloud backup be sure to initiate some other backup strategy. Backing up to iTunes is a good alternative.
