How do I turn voiceover off?

I hit an odd key combo and now I have a very annoying assist mode turned on. Now everything my mouse highlights is spoken by good old Alex and certain areas are outlined in black. How can I turn this off completely? Also, my F12 key is now dashboard F10 is window viewer. Is there any way to return all the default?

Open the Seeing tab of the Universal Access pane of System Preferences and turn it off. If it's on at the login window, turn it off from the Accounts pane under Login Options.

I am currently stuck in the TouchChat app with VoiceOver and Guided Access both turned on. Every time I triple click the home button the accessibility options come up but it just reads the options aloud to me rather than letting me turn VoiceOver off. Since I am also in Guided Access I am unable to get out of the app to go to settings to turn the VoiceOver off. I have even tried a forced shutdown hoping that that would help, but when I turn it back on I am automatically locked back in TouchChat. Please help! Your best bet is an Apple store...the genius bar has seen this before & they have the tools to fix. So, go to an Apple store...make an appointment first.

I suspect you have Voice Over on:
Press Home.
Tap Settings. Then double-tap Settings.
Tap General. Then double-tap General.
Use three fingers on the screen to scroll to Accessibility.
Tap Accessibility. Then double-tap Accessibility.
Tap VoiceOver. Then double-tap VoiceOver.
Tap "On" next to VoiceOver. Then double-tap "On" to turn it off.
You have to tap, then double-tap to select the numbers to enter your passcode.

You likely have iCloud turned on in at least Safari. If you don't want Safari to sync between these devices turn one of them off. System Preferences - iCloud - Safari (uncheck the box)

It sounds that you are running the same iCloud account with two phones. I recommend you to create a different iCloud account and you should be all set.

The 'preview' is interfering in our playing online games ... how can we turn it off ???

Uploaded the Firefox toolbar from my Photobucket account earlier today. We have been having trouble with our Internet Explorer for a while and my son prefers Firefox, so I thought I'd give it a try.
My fiance' and I play DAILY on goldtoken.com ... a board game site with Scrabble, backgammon, and many many other games. Firefox has a 'preview' that sends us into another screen for a 'preview' of our play ... in head to head tournaments that have 2 minute time limits on turns, this causes a lot of problems ... in regular games ... it is still a great nuisance ... HOW DO WE TURN IT OFF ???
