Hi.. How do i unauthorise a computer (3) that are no longer in use i.e i have formatted my harddrive 4 times now and itunes says i am using 4 out of 5 of my licenses or whatever but i only have computer now (single boot) help plz

You can't deauthorise 'dead' installations or computers you no longer have access to individually. However once you reach the limit of 5 authorisations you have the option to deauthorise them all in one go from your iTunes account and start over. *Just note that you can only use this option once a year*: About iTunes Music Store Authorisation and Deauthorisation

You actually have to use the computer itself in order to deauthorize that computer - if that is the only computer that you want to deauthorize - or you can deauthorize all computers - and then authorize them all over again. Read this for more info.

I had an iMac die on me about two years ago and was not able to deauthorize it for the reason explained above. I did not want to deauthorize and then authorize my other 3 computers, so I plan on not worrying about it until I reach the 5 computer limit. That is my advice to you as well - if you have not yet reached the limit - don't worry about it.

Hi Prashant,
Yeah LDB is a good way of implementing Structural auth. Apart from that you can assign the Authorization Group in the Z-report attribute. So users who are part of this group only can access this report. This also applies to the standard reports as they are already assgned to standard Authorization Groups.

You should deauthorize the old computer through iTunes on that computer. You can't do it remotely. If you no longer have that old computer or it's not working, you can go into your iTunes Store account via iTunes on your new computer and there will be a "deauthorize all" button. You can then re-authorize the computers you're using now.
Note that you can only use the "deauthorize all" option once per year, unless something's changed very recently.

How do I de-authorise if it's multiple times on one computer?

Recently my 2003 iPod died and my nano was recalled for a battery problem. On both of these, I had a book that I had purchased through iTunes. It's a very large book (3 large volumes) and I cannot back it up to an audio cd.
It has once more asked me to authorise the computer for this book - it wouldn't let me play it on my computer even. (at this point I tried to deauthorise it, but it told me it wasn't authorised) It now tells me that I have authorised it on 5 computers, but I know it is only on that one computer (though I have just managed to copy it to my new iPod touch).
I am nervous that this will happen again, and I will lose my purchased book.
How do I deauthorise these other 4 times if it has only ever been authorised on this one computer? Does it count my dead iPod and recalled nano as authorised computers? - if so, how can I deauthorise them?
I have just had a thought - my motherboard was replaced at one time - could this have any effect?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Having posted this question, a few useful links came up on the right hand side. I believe I can de-authorise all computers, and then reauthorise just my one. (Mine was only authorised once)
I hadn't realised that if my husband had authorised one music track from my library, then effectively he was authorised for all my downloaded tracks, even if he didn't have them on his computer.
My dead iPod and recalled nano have nothing to do with it.
I am still a bit mystified, but at least I can see a way forward.

I'm not sure if this affects Home Sharing or not, but if you have systems that are authorised with an account that no longer exist then you can go to iTunes > iTunes Store > Your account and in there is a way to deauthorise computers from the account side.
Be aware that you can only deauthorise all your systems once ever 6 month (It think it's 6 months).

"In order to enable Home Sharing, Automatic Downloads, or downloading of past purchases, your computer must be authorized for use with your Apple ID."
… so deauthorising your computer will remove them from Home Sharing as well.

How to use standard Authorisation object?

Hi, suppose in PFCG in a Z role suppose i have added a standard tcode (exp. VA01). Now in the authorisation field if I go to chage it it will automatically populate all maintain screens regarding that TCODE where we can maintain authorisations.
Now suppose I have used a standard authority obj (for exp V_VBAK_AAT ) in at-selection screen of my Zprogram. Now while assiging the Ztcode in the role I m not getting the maintains screen which generates automatically for standards. I have to use the standard authotity obj, but while assigning how can we call the maintainance screen for the used autho-obj?

Since i updated to os 10.9, i had to change my script which helps me to create a powerusers group, which has more rights than a normal user. It was no problem to change in the most rules the group key from admin to powerusers. I did this with the help of the security authorizationdb and the plistbuddy command. What I do not understand is why i can't change anything in the authenticate-admin, the authenticate-admin-30 or the authenticate-session-owner-or-admin rule. Anyone has an idea? I used the following command:
security authorizationdb read authenticate-admin > /tmp/test.plist
/usr/libexec/PlistBuddy -c "Set :group powerusers" /tmp/test.plist
security authorizationdb write authenticate-admin < /tmp/test.plist
The first two lines work ok but it won't write it back into the auth DB. The same command even won't work if i leave away the second line and change nothing in the plist file. Does anyone has tips or ideas how to resolve this? or inputs why it doesn't work?

Thanks for the link. I used it for my script and was able to change the group in a lot of rules from admin to powerusers. For example:
security authorizationdb read system.preferences > $mod
/usr/libexec/PlistBuddy -c "Set :group powerusers" $mod
security authorizationdb write system.preferences < $mod
This works fine. I could change 25 rules with it. But the rules authenticate-admin, authenticate-admin-30 or authenticate-session-owner-or-admin can't be written back into the authorisation file and I don't know why. I used exactly the same code that I used for the other rules.
