How do i uninstall a security update?
just did a securtiy update through automatic update and when i restarted the computer, all my stuff is gone, i am back to a blue desk top and no files, no itunes, no photos, just a blank hard drive?? i was on 10.4.6 i believe, now the computer says 10.4.7

How do I uninstall the iphoto update which does not work. ie it tells me my library is locked out and the recommended action by apple does not open the phot library first aid. ? i need to go back to the old iphoto.

Terence, you seem to be the foremost expert on apeture and iphoto and have helped me many times in the past (thanks). I have a question that you may be able to help with (anyone also feel free to take a stab). I use blogger to upload my photos and host my blog (www.sippingespresso.com). I spend hours organzing and editing photos - namely, I will enhance and sometimes alter an image in Apeture. It always saves over the orginal file (at least for viewing purposes), which is fine by me. But then when I go to upload the photos onto blogger it seems to always pull my dull, original image. Obviously, I want the newer, bright, enhanced photo.
I'm one step away from importing them, dragging them out of iphoto and into Photoshop, then editing the files and dragging them back into iphoto, deleting the originals and uploading from there. There HAS to be a better way - please help!! I've already posted far too many boring images without the beauty of Apeture's "auto enhance".

How to install MSFT application security updates in cab file format using DISM
Hi,
I tried to install security updates for MS Office which are cab files like any other windows security updates cab file. It is giving an error called "file not found". But other windows security updates cab files are installing fine without any error.
I tried to install these updates manually using DISM on commandline. It is not installing. I even tried using pkgmgr.exe, but that is not working either. I looked at DISM logs which is saying it failed opening the cab file. I tried different other commandline
options of DISM to install this, but nothing else is suitable for a cab file install.
Does anyone know how to install a cab file for application security updates via DISM.exe or other MSFT commandline tools?

DicksonThanks, yes, I saw that option. What I wonder though is how did this application get started up? I cannot find it in any of the usual startup places. I work with Windows machines as well as OS X and Linux and there are a whole world of mechanisms to get applications going at startup, some of which are fiendishly tricky to identify. Outside of the Unix startup mechanism that Apple employs to get OS X cranked up, there are the system and user Library/Startupitems and then the list of items in the user account. I did not find this Adobe updater in any of those. So how does it get launched?

How do i uninstall the Aperture Update?
ok, so i was updating on something from the software update, and by accident, i forgot to un-mark the Aperture software update (1.5.6)
and i found it un-useful because i dont even use Aperture, and the Update is like a 100 MB big, and seeing my HD's limit for other stuffs
so i was hoping you guys can teach me how to uninstall only the update without have to reinstall the Aperture itself ( so let it be like how it is before i update )

If you aren't using Aperture at all, just delete it. Also, don't assume that a 100MB update will use up 100MB extra disk space as it will often be replacing existing files.
And not to forget that 100MB is tiny these days when it comes to HD space... it's around 8 RAW files from my 5D.

Windows Windows XP ProIf you install QT 7.1.6, it says 7.1.6 in the help screen. If you install the newly released security update, nothing changes to show the security update has been applied. It still says 7.1.6 in the help screen. Even running the patch manually, it gives no indication it has successfully installed.
I am required to install this patch on about 200 clasroom machines but have no way to verify which ones get the patch and which don't. Apparently I can't even go around to each of them and manually verify. -
