How do i uninstall acquisition on the mac

i need to delete aquisition on the mac and i cant work out how to do it

Click here and follow the instructions. If you're willing to use a tool to remove it(you don't need to, but may find it easier), you can instead run Adware Medic; this link is a direct download.

After downloading latest Reader software (11) on my Mac (OS10.7.5) I cannot print pdf files on either of my two printers. I suspect corrupt software.  How do I uninstall and reinstall the software?  Adobe's on-line instructions are only for Window devices.

You can just drag the file to the trash. If you want you can remove  the pdf plug-in from the internet-plug in folder, but that should not be necessary to correct your problem.

How do I uninstall mpkg packages in mac os when they are installed onto the main hard disk? For other applications I use AppZapper, what is the best method to uninstall packages that are installed by a mpkg?
    Thank you for any help.

To do it manually, you must delate the application.
Then look in your library folder for it. Open Application support in the library folder and search there
Delete anything you find with the name of that app.
do the same for the system library

How do i uninstall MplayerX from my mac? please help

MPlayerX is a legitimate program (I do use it) http://mplayerx.org
However I did have MPlayerX.zip (9.0MB) download due to clicking on a wrong link, this one is malware.(genuine app is 35.6MB zipped)
    Checking MPlayerX.zip with http://virusscan.jotti.org  detects Adware.MAC.OSX.ExtensionsInstaller.F
You can use the Free BetterZip Quick Look Generator to view files in an app without unzipping.

  • How do I uninstall extensions from my mac?

How do I uninstall extensions from my mac? I'm trying to uninstall the Greatdy System Audio and Sunflower extensions. It would really be nice if macs had a comprehensive program to uninstall programs and plugins.

Open Extensions preferences in System Preferences. That is if you mean Yosemite extensions. Otherwise, use any uninstaller provided by the developer or read the following:
    Uninstalling Software: The Basics
Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash.  Applications may create preference files that are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder.  Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space.  If you want you can look for them in the above location and delete them, too.
Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application.  In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder.  You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder.  You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder.  Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item.  Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder.  Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences.  Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab.  Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.
Some software use startup daemons or agents that are a new feature of the OS.  Look for them in /Library/LaunchAgents/ and /Library/LaunchDaemons/ or in /Home/Library/LaunchAgents/.
If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term.  Unfortunately Spotlight will not look in certain folders by default.  You can modify Spotlight's behavior or use a third-party search utility, EasyFind, instead.
Some applications install a receipt in the /Library/Receipts/ folder.  Usually with the same name as the program or the developer.  The item generally has a ".pkg" extension.  Be sure you also delete this item as some programs use it to determine if it's already installed.
There are many utilities that can uninstall applications.  Here is a selection:
        1. AppZapper
        2. AppDelete
        3. Automaton
        4. Hazel
        5. AppCleaner
        6. CleanApp
        7. iTrash
        8. Amnesia

  • How is it that fonts in the Mac system can be damaged?

How is it that fonts in the Mac system can be damaged?
It does not hapen in PC systems, ever!
How do we go about replacing the damaged fonts?
I treid to delete and reinstall but no sucess.
Also, Mac systems can only have active about 250 fonts.
PC systems can have up to 1,000 fonts and run very smoothly with any hitches.
    Any sloutions or recommendations?
Looks like I made a wrong choice.
I thought that Mac systems was very stable when it comes to graphic related applications, but it seems that I was WRONG.
A simple font base also Mac system cannot handle as well as a PC based system.
Sorry if I have offended other Mac users.
But, I would really like to continue using my Macbook Pro.
    Cheers and Merry Christmas, everyone!!!
    Kelvin LEEmy

How is it that fonts in the Mac system can be damaged?
As ds store noted. Any file on any part of the drive can be damaged at any time. This is true of any OS, not just the Mac.
It does not happen in PC systems, ever!
Why in the world would you think that's true? I used DOS/Windows for years. Fonts on PCs get damaged too, for pretty much the same reasons.
How do we go about replacing the damaged fonts?
You can replace just the fonts from your Snow Leopard installation disk. See the bottom of my article, Font Management in OS X for instructions.
I tried to delete and reinstall but no success.
Not enough info. Reinstalled from where?
Also, Mac systems can only have active about 250 fonts.
I don't know where you read or heard that, but it's 100% wrong.
PC systems can have up to 1,000 fonts and run very smoothly with any hitches.
And I've had as many as 8500 active (for testing, I would never do it day to day). Do I win?
    Any solutions or recommendations?
The most likely reason, assuming you replaced the fonts with known good copies is Font Book. Put bluntly, it's one of the worst font managers available. It's database is easily corrupted. When that happens, fonts that are marked as active in its interface won't appear in some, or all apps. You'll find you can't activate or deactivate fonts. Use these steps to clean Font Book up so it works.
Restart your Mac and immediately hold down the Shift key when you hear the startup chime to boot into Safe Mode. Keep holding the Shift key until you see a progress bar towards the bottom of the screen. You can let go of the Shift key at that point.
OS X asks you to log in (you will get this screen on a Safe Mode boot even if your Mac is set to automatically log in). Let the Mac finish booting to the desktop and then restart normally. This will clear Font Book's database and the cache files of the user account you logged into in Safe Mode.
After the Mac finishes booting back to the desktop from Safe Mode, do the following to clear the rest of the font cache files.
Close all running applications. From an administrator account, open the Terminal app and enter the following command. You can also copy/paste it from here into the Terminal window:
    sudo atsutil databases -remove
Terminal will then ask for your admin password. As you type, it will not show anything, so be sure to enter it correctly.
This removes all font cache files. Both for the system and the current user font cache files. After running the command, close Terminal and immediately restart your Mac.
Looks like I made a wrong choice.
As opposed to what? Dealing with viruses each and every day?
I thought that Mac systems was very stable when it comes to graphic related applications, but it seems that I was WRONG.
Boy, you sure know how to make people want to help you.
A simple font base also Mac system cannot handle as well as a PC based system.
Also flat out wrong. Fonts are simple. You add them and use them. Turn them off when you don't want them active. Learning and understanding a new OS is usually a good idea before you start trashing it.
If problems return soon after resetting Font Book with the notes above, then you most likely installed junk fonts. Free fonts are worth what you paid for them and are the number one source of such problems on both Macs and PCs.
Secondly, get rid of Font Book. If you use and manage fonts every day, get a professional manager. Suitcase Fusion 4 and FontExplorerX Pro are your best choices.
I may receive some form of compensation, financial or otherwise, from my recommendation or link.

  • I use internode and imap. When the ipad deletes emails it also removes them from the mac. How can I reverse this so the mac is the master and the ipad is the slave?ipa

I use internode and imap. When the ipad deletes emails it also removes them from the mac. How can I reverse this so the mac is the master and the ipad is the slave?

Thanks for the info. - I now know that deletion works both ways!! - (unlike POP where emails deleted from the ipad also deleted them from the mac even before I could read them,  whereas emails deleted from the mac were not removed from the ipad!!! - ie. the ipad was the master over the mac - the slave).  Prior to changing to imap I used to transfer all nongarbage emails from inbox to mailboxes before my husband could ask if he could delete emails on his ipad. I have noticed however if you do this in imap, they are removed from the inbox on the ipad as well (this did not happen with POP). So we still have to check but the number is less so we like imap better than POP.
    Thank again

  • Where is the webpage that tells you how to uninstall Firefox on the Mac?

I installed FF 4 on my Mac just to discover that I could not run Google Gears on it. So I need to uninstall FF4 and install FF 3.6. I searched for a page and to tell me how to do this an found one at http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Uninstalling%20Firefox. After doing part of the process and removing FF4 but not the profile I went back to this page in Safari. But not the instructions change and it is telling me how to uninstall on a PC. So how do I find the Mac uninstall page when FF is not installed on my Mac.

It goes by you useragent to tey and serve a page based on it. To get another OS or Firefox version just look at the right of articles where it says '''Help with:''' and click on the OS and Firefox to change accordingly.
I use Firefox on Linux so it serves me a page for Linux users yet I may want to sometimes change it for Windows when helping Windows users.

  • Trying to Uninstall Codec-M: the Mac variant of Codec-C

I'm running Firefox 10.0.2 on a Mac running OS X 10.6.8. Last week I made a bad mistake, and allowed "Codec-M" to load on my computer. This appears to be the Mac version of Codec-C.
It installed into Firefox as an Add-On. It's visible in the Firefox>Preferences>Manage Add-ons page, however there is no remove button, so I became suspicious.
I've found it's not where it should be. I opened the Firefox bundle in my user account and it's not in the Extensions folder.
The Firefox>Help>Troubleshooting Information gave me its ID, which is "{EEF73632-A085-4fd3-A778-ECD82C8CB297}". This appears on NO file on my hard-drive by a simple search, so whatever this thing is it's gone to ground. It's listed as being disabled, but with the other details considered, I don't trust that.
I used the instructions at "https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting%20plugins#w_manually-uninstalling-a-plugin", exposed my plug-in paths, went to About:plugins and it doesn't appear in the list. All the other ones do, but it is not listed.
I tried going to the Global Firefox folders, but there's nothing in there either.
I'd appreciate some help. It might be coincidence, but my internet has been running VERY slow since this started, and I'm worried about my personal info.
How do I force this thing off my Mac?

I ran into a movie player telling me I needed to install the Codec-M 1.0.0.1 to watch the streaming movie. I have seen these Codec's before and did not notice the -M at the end of Codec until later. After I gave it the OK to install, I became immediately suspicious because there were two boxes asking me if I wanted to make Codec-M my browser homepage and the other if I wanted it to be a default for Firefox. The thing was, they were ALREADY Checked!!
So, thinking I was smart, I unchecked them (probably what saved me from an attack) Then I STUPIDLY clicked the "Install" button. It then asked to store the Install DMG into my firefox ADD-ONS!! ... where I "could always change its location later"!!! I KNEW this was malware NOW! But with no way out I told it to store the install/un-install DMG onto my desktop. Once it was there I opened it. There was indeed a install and a un-install there.
That was when a pop up notice came up and said something like "We recommended you install this into your Firefox as a default" or something like that. I don't remember all if it , for blood was shooting from my eyes, while trying to avoid a disaster at the same time.
Apparently they did not like it when I unchecked their pre-checked boxes then ignored their "ADVICE' and put the malware onto my desktop instead of in the Firefox browser. Whatever this thing is/was, it was certainly interested in gaining access to my browser, anywhere, anyhow!!
Luckily I have "Clean-My-Mac" software installed on my Mac and I immediately went to it and threw away the In/un-install DMG file by dragging it to the uninstall application section and clicking clean.
But that was the first step. Then I had to retrieve the Codec-M icon from my application folder and do the same thing. Lastly there was one more disc player icon labelled Codec-M that was also on my desktop and I dragged that to my Mac cleaner as well.
Needless to say I also had to change my master Id because its required to let them install their crap. I just hope that they did not squeeze anything through while I was unprotected!! ARRRRRGH!!
Hope this helps those who may have run into this imposter. First one I ever ran into in 6 years. I've had "Clean My Mac for 4 years and I use it to clean all sorts of unnecessary junk that collects in my system from time to time. I have also used it to get rid of apps I no longer want. I don't know if it does a thorough job like "APP-ZAPPER" but it zapps most of them and all the junk they leave behind.
    Good Luck!

  • How do I uninstall Itunes11 on a mac? I HATE ITUNES 11

im trying to reinstall itunes 10.7 but when i try it says i cant because another itunes is already installed (itunes 11), so how do i uninstall itunes 11 on a mac?

At least since CS3, for sure, there's an uninstaller for Photoshop that gets installed in ./Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers/ when you install Photoshop.  Can't remember whether there was one for CS2 already or not.
Re-installing without first trashing Photoshop preferences is futile, as you end up right back where you started.  To re-create the preferences files for Photoshop, start the application while holding down Command+Option+Shift. Then, click Yes to the message, "Delete the Adobe Photoshop Settings file?"; or remove the files manually.  This tech note describes the location of Photoshop preferences files in CS4; I can't immediately locate a similar note for CS2.
You should also Repair Permissions with Apple's Disk Utility before and after every installation, re-install, update or upgrade of any application or the OS.
