How do I uninstall Acrobata XI on osx mountain lion?

So I tried out the trial version of Acrobat XI, and I'm dissapointed to say that I find it to be very poor.
I mainly was hoping that there would be new features for annotation of existing PDF files, but the features have actually made it harder
to do so (e.g., new "features" like needing to select an extra button to mark things up, text windows being half there, etc.).
In any event, my one month trial will be over in about a week but I'm ready to uninstall it now (I'm staying with Acrobat X), but
one other "feature" of acrobat XI is that there does not seem to be an uninstall program on osx Mountain Lion (this is particularly
annoying since for some reason something keeps setting Acrobat XI to be the default pdf reader, even though I keep explicitly
setting it to be Acrobat X). Acrobat XI is a real lemon.
In any event, can someone help me get this program (Acrobat XI) off of my machine?
thanks very much.

Actually, I figured out how to do it. There is a program (or script, or something) right in the same directory where the program lives, and if you just run that, it will do the trick.
I'll be back again to take a look at Acrobat XII, unless I find something else before then ...
Please, next time, work on annotation of existing pdfs (things like ink, comments, etc., all of the things that the ipad app Goodreader, or even iannotate, is good at).

  • How do I download my already purchased OSX Mountain Lion again?

I've done this before, but for some reason am blocked now on the App Store Purchases tab. I've already purchased Mountain Lion, and need to create a bootable USB drive to reinstall it. I don't feel like paying $20 again, or finding an illegal copy since I've already purchased it. But what's going on? How do I download this again?
    Thanks everyone.

I don't know if that's true. If you RENT a movie you can only download it once, but if you purchase it you should be able to download it multiple times. If you purchase a movie, and delete it, you should still have it saved in the Cloud. Maybe you aren't showing purchases from The Cloud in your iTunes lists. To fix this in iTunes on your computer:
In the menu bar > iTunes > Preferences > Store (Store Preferences) > Show iTunes In The Cloud Purchases (Enable this)

Can you try to install the latest version of Java so that ColdFusion will not use the version which ship with it? After that, try to uninstall ColdFusion 10 and then let us know the status of this issue.

Have you configured your Gmail account in the Mail, Contacts & Calendars control panel? This was the easiest way for me to do it.
Open SysPrefs > Mail, Contacts & Calendars and click the "+" button to add a new account. Click Gmail and enter your credentials. Then you can choose the option for Messages.

  • OSX Mountain Lion Server - how do you uninstall this including services

    Hi All,
Sorry if the question has been asked before.
I have Mountain Lion 10.8.5 and installed OSX Mountain Lion Server (2.2.2) and run into a couple of issues after installed successfully.
    * I no longer can add users and groups.
    * Open Directory fails to connect.
So I read some forums and uninstalled the server by trashing it, deleting /Libaray/Server, empty trash and reboot. But when I reinstalled the server it renabled all the services that I had previously and still not able to add users and groups. Open Directory fails to connect "not able to load replica" So I try to create a new OD and get an error the server is already a Network Server.
So basicaly I want to start from scratch and need some assistance how to get rid of OSX Server.
    Thanks
    Sahid

Wipe the disk, and reinstall OS X.  (Not fun, of course.  I just created a bootable USB disk for this purpose, and nuked an errant server configuration.  A "target practice" server used for testing purposes had gone awry, and needed to be wholly reset.  So I know what you're going through.  Visit here or here for some instructions.)
FWIW, usual trigger for problems with OS X Server on a NAT'd network is bad DNS.  That step gets skipped, or folks think they can refer to ISP or off-LAN DNS servers, and problems ensue.  OS X Server needs LAN-local DNS when NAT is in use.

  • Uninstalling OSX Mountain Lion

My macbookpro has become increasingly slow. I want to uninstall my latest software which is OSX Mountain Lion, but I purchased the software off of iTunes so i do not have a hard CD copy to re-install the software. Is uninstalling then re-installing the right way to weed out options in hopes of cleaning up my computer?

if you upgraded to mountain lion - a recovery partiton was created in your hard drive.
to do a complete reinstall - turn your macbook on while holding down the command + r keys and follow the instructions once you see the boot menu.
before you reinstall - make sure all your files are backed up.
why do you need to do a reinstall?  what kind of issues are you having with your macbook right now?
how much ram have you got installed and how much disk space have you got left in your hard drive?

  • Acrobat XI, comment keyboard shortcuts gone missing, osx mountain lion

It used to be the case, with Acrobat X, that when you are making a comment on a PDF file, one would be able to use keyboard shortcuts to speed things up.
For example, one could select a point, and hit the '~' key to 'insert text at cursor', or the 'delete' key to do a 'strikethrough', and so on. It seems that
with Acrobaat XI many of these keyboard shortcuts (but not all, 's' still seems to work) are gone.
    Is this intentional?
Also, to be honest, I was really looking forward to the Acrobat XI update for improved abilities to markup a PDF. It seems all of the effort went into
things like changing a PDF, but that is not at all how I use PDF. I almost always have the original source of a PDF, or if I don't, what I want
to do is markup a PDF (either with comments, or with ink using a wacom), and if anything the features for doing this have (as mentioned in the first paragraph
    above) gone into reverse.
Lastly, I do all of this under osx mountain lion, I should say.
    thanks.

We received a lot of issues from customers regarding the behavior in A X. Hence in A XI, we have done the changes that keyboard shortcuts for adding text correction comments will only work if "Text Correction Markup" (rightmost icon in the second row of Annotations panel) is selected or active.
Ok, I have been trying to use this for a few days, but I need to go back to acrobat X since for some reason the "text correction markup" option gets unselected about once avery 3 text corrections I make. I have been unable to figure out why it keeps getting unselected, and it is tiring to have to keep reselecting it so often. And why would you use '~' which normally does a text correction to pull up the "output preview" window???? This really makes no sense at all.
I'm also quite dissapointed that there is still no keyboard shortcut for "add note to text".
Is it really the case that so few people want to do text corrections/annotations to pdf documents that there has been no improvement to these features over the past few years? You'd think that with devices like the ipad and with remarkably good pdf readers on the ipad like goodreader (and that have a wealth of markup options, and where the authors really seem to have thought about how to make marking up pdfs quick and efficient), that acrobat would have done at least something to improve in this regard.
Oh, I figured out why "text correction markup" keeps getting unselected. I usually use esc to escable the bubble that pops up for notes/annotations to text. If you type escape again, it leaves text correction markup mode. Why would you do that?
I want to stay in text correction mode (in fact I would like it to be *always* on,like acrobat X was.
Other bugs i've found. Sometimes the bubble pops up but there is no text field. I.e., there is the highlighted callout going from the text to the bubble to the actual text, but then the text field is not shown. This is clearly a bug.
Again, this is all osx mountain lion. Maybe Adobe is still mad at apple due to flash? I don't know, but it really seems like you did not test this version very thoroughly.

  • How to download but not install OSX Mountain Lion on Mavericks

    Hi all
I would like to download but not install OSX Mountain Lion on my MBP which is currently running OSX Mavericks.
This however seems impossible. I think OSX Mavericks were already installed on my MBP and therefore it seems "impossible" to download it.
Now, why would I to do this? The answer is quite reasonable, due to certain demands related to an application portfolio I need Mountain Lion, because the portfolio is not upgraded to run on Mavericks. And, it is more reasonable to downgrade a version of OSX, rather waiting for the portfolio upgrade which can take years.
Yes, I need to downgrade my secondary MBP which also came with preinstalled Mavericks. This can be done, if I only could download but not install Moutain Lion.
It should be easy enough; download Mountain Lion, make an installer and make a bootable thumb usb stick. Then erase Mavericks and install Mountain Lion.
I have previously bought Mountain Lion so it is accessible to me in the App Store, but whenever I try to hit the Download button, I get a message saying this can't be done, since I am running Mavericks.
This bugs me, it should be obvious users needs the flexibility to swap whatever OSX version they need. It is still software.
So, how can I download but not install Mountain Lion on my newer MBP that came with preinstalled Mavericks?
I would like to see answers like:
"In order to get this to work, you first have to disable the locking mechanism in [...] " instead of "No, this is impossible to do"
    Regards

    Thanks for your reply Eric
Can't help wondering thought, people are ok with this?
Basically Apple are saying: "Do not attempt to install an older version of OSX which came preinstalled. If so, expect multiple failures." Really?! Has it always been so? For me it's not like I'm going to install Snow Leopard on my Late 2013 Retina MBP, but I would expect some form of backward compatibility between the previous version and it successor. Apparently this is not possible, and how is this even acceptable?
Personally, I am not going to downgrade, as if I had a choice, but I would and I expected however, the possibility to at least download the previous OSX version. What do you do if you have bought several applications, not necessarily online from App Store and buy yourself a new Mac with preinstalled Mavericks and after installing your "old" applications they fail to work properly? What do you do since downgrading apparently is not an option. So... again, what do you do?
If you don't have friends with an older Mac, you could be facing serious problems. And I'm not talking about gaming, but serious business.
I find this quite disturbing actually, and please tell me it's not so. There gotta be a way to do this?
I simply want to download the OS but I expect some registry values (like windows' registry) keeps preventing this.
It should be possible to simply download and not download and install in one operation, shouldn't it?
    Regards

This is not difficult and you will not have to download from the app store.
your computer has what is called  a recovery partition that came with it.
simply hold cmd+R while you boot up. let go a second after you hear the chime.
you will boot into the recovery partition.
Use disk utlity to format your usb drive and then exit Disk utlity and go to Reinstall Mountain Lion.
it will ask  you which disk you want to install ML onto. Choose your new USB drive.
    easy peasy
