How do I uninstall evernote? because it won't stay gone.

I have evernote, apparently. I mean, I dragged the app to my trash and emptied it about 18 months ago when I discovered that it was a bloated piece of crap. But ever since then, it's been coming back again. By itself. I thought I'd select "Macintosh HD" and search for "Evernote", thinking it would locate the app itself - no search results show the app.
If I go to my launchpad, I see its icon. And I can launch it. So yeah, apparently it doesn't exist on my computer, but I can use it. That's odd.
I of course can't right click it from Launchpad, so the only way to work out where it is is to drag it from the launchpad to the dock, then right-click on the dock icon and say "Open in Finder".
Holy crap! It's installed in a FOLDER inside /volumes. No freaking way I'd put a folder there myself, I didn't realise that you could. Something in MacOS is creating this and putting it there. I mean, it's beside the Macintosh HD icon, apparently not on it. Can someone explain that?
Oh, and yes, I have an external 1TB hard drive, which is labelled "1TB". But it's currently in my bag, next to my desk. It's not connected. It hasn't been connected for a few days now. When it *is* connected, it shows up with its yellow icon here under Volumes, and I can browse it. Oh, and yeah, I've trashed Evernote from there too, every time I find it again.
SOMETHING in MacOS wants me to have Evernote. I've gone ahead and trashed this again, but I've done this before, and I'm fully expecting that when I next power cycle this box it will magically re-appear and insinuate itself on my system again. Trashing it apparently doesn't mean it won't appear again. I've trashed all the preference files I could find that mention Evernote. I did this last time too, but they magically re-appeared. I still have Skitch because I find that useful, but that's the only app that ties in with Evernote that I know I have. Is there any way one app can install another app without prompting me to enter my password? I don't think there is. So it must be the app store somehow thinking I want this and installing it for me.
Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Launch the Activity Monitor in /Utilities and sort by name. Select any that refer to the app (shame you didn't indicate what it was), click on the Quit Process button, and click on Force Quit. When all are gone, empty the trash.

Have several books that were recently purchased. This week these books have multiplied into at least 20 or more copies within my library. How can I delete them because it will not let me use the edit tab?

Do they have the cloud icon on them ? When I had Settings > iBooks > Show All Purchases 'on' I was getting multiple copies of books that were only in the cloud showing on the bookshelf in the app - turning that setting 'off' stopped them showing (you can see what books are available for redownloading, and redownload them, via the Purchased tab in the ibookstore in the app)

  • How can I reset an iPad that won't stay on. I need to clear it and start again

I had a new iPad mini retina and it worked ok for a couple of days then started turning on and off in a loop until the battery died. Even when charging it turned on and off constantly not leaving enough time to sync with iTunes or reset.  Anyway apple replaced it today. I have come home. Charged it and synced with the last backup and guess what it happened again. Obviously it's something in the backup. So my question is. How can I do a major reset

It doesn't stay on long enough it turns off as soon as the apple disappears. But thank you for the reply.

  • Indesign question: Master page items I remove won't stay gone

I'm working on laying out a book, with various chapters which are separate files. Naturally there's a master page with various guides I use a lot, as well as a fairly standard running header with page numbers and chapter and section names. As is standard practise, I want these to appear on nearly every page, but not on the first pages of chapters. (There are other times I might want to override this, but that's the main one.) So, I Ctrl-Shift-click and delete them when I set up a new chapter.
Problem is, they don't stay gone. Every so often, I open up a previous chapter and find that these elements are back on the first page of that chapter, and I delete them again. I've only been noticing this since I made the chapters in question into a book file so I could keep an eye on my page count and synch up styles more easily.
My best guess is that maybe it has something to do with the aforementioned synching. I do want those chapters to share the same master page(s) but do not want IDto keep reapplying elements from them to individual pages that I've already manually removed them from (sometimes more than once). How can I prevent this from happening? (Or alternatively, if this isn't the cause of the problem, what else could it be and how do I deal with that?)

Fair enough. Guess that's just as easy, if not slightly easier, than what I've been doing, and so far it seems to be working.

  • How do I uninstall an extention that won't load.

When I start Safari it complains about an old extension and says it won't load it. I already have a newer version installed. I can see the new version of the extension under preferences, but not the old version. How do I get rid of the old version, so I don't continue to get this warning?
Uninstalling the new version does nothing for this problem.

Try moving the extension to the trash from   ~/Library/Safari
If that doesn't help, go to ~/Library/Safari
Move the Extensions.plist file from the Safari folder to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If you aren't sure how to find those files..
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Click Go then type or copy/paste:    ~/Library/Safari
    Click Go.

  • How do I uninstall Firefox?--it won't uninstall, even though I click on Uninstall.

Firefox keeps crashing, and I keep sending reports, asking for help with this problem, but I get nothing! I want Firefox off my computer, but when I try to Uninstall, nothing happens. I've even tried to download the latest version, but all I get is a sign-up for the newsletter--wow, could this site be more incompetent????

I have not heard of any access code being required...
Try using the helper.exe file. Open the following folder:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\uninstall
Then double-click helper.exe to run it normally. If you get the same error, cancel out and try this:
Right-click helper.exe and choose "Run as administrator"
Can you get it to run?

  • Can't sync because phone won't stay connected

Ok so I connect my phone to sync it last night and it keeps disconnecting and reconnecting itself. After a couple times iTunes tells me I need to restore so I do this and when I go to put all my stuff back on it just starts disconnecting and reconnecting itself again so I can't put anything on it. Has anyone experienced this or have any help to offer me. Thanks

Sonic... I'm sure it's nothing personal, you'd be surprised at how many computers haven't turned on because the power cord wasn't connected at both ends.
As it appears you're both using Windows XP, my suggestion is this:
Connect the iPod, and quit iTunes if it launches
Click on Start > Run and type compmgmt.msc
In the left-hand column, select Device Manager
in the right-hand column, scroll to Universal Serial Bus controllers
Click the + sign to expand it
Right-click on Apple Mobile Device, and choose uninstall
Then, restart the computer with the iPhone connected

  • IMessage won't stay gone

I  am trying to delete an iMessage that is probably about a year old. When I delete it I will let the phone sit overnight to "process" when I wake up in the morning I have no texts or emails so I close out of the iMessage app and then open it back up. All my txts are gone at this point and upon restarting the phone everything appears including what I deleted. I don't have find messages turned on in spotlight either and that seems to be the common "fix." I back up regularly also.

How much free storage space do you have available on your iPhone?
Any change after a reset which is similar to a computer restart and is done by pressing and holding the home button and the sleep/wake or on/off button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo and then release?

  • HOW DO I UNINSTALL GARAGEBAND

HOW DO I UNINSTALL GARAGEBAND BECAUSE I DOWNLOADED THE WHOLE VERSION BUT I DONT NEED IT NO MORE AND ITS TAKING MY MEMORY, BUT I DO NOT WANT TO DELETE THE PROGRAM JUST UNINSTALL IT?

Uninstalling means deleting the program (and some other files).
By far the most storage hungry part of GB are the loops, so you might just delete the corresponding folder: HD/Library/Audio/Apple Loops.
If you want more free space, delete the Instrument Library: HD/Library/Application Support/GarageBand/Instrument Library.
That will leave GB without loops and instruments, but still capable of recording audio.
If you want to get rid of GB completely, do a Spotlight search with "garageband" and delete all the files that come up (that includes the program).
And please don't write in all-caps, that's considered shouting (and hard to read).

  • How to uninstall evernote application in os x?

I tried to uninstall evernote, I removed contents folder to trash but when i tried to move application to trash I got a message 'The item “Evernote” can’t be moved to the Trash because it’s open'.
How do I close it and remove it completely?

How did you install it?  From Evernote's site or via the Mac App Store?
If the latter, you just go to LaunchPad and click and hold on it for a bit, and then click the "X" in the upper left corner and it's gone.

    Hello, Stephen.
Thank you for the question.  You will need to rebuild your iTunes library file in order to open an older version of iTunes.  Below, I have included the article that walks you through this process.  Start with the section labeled Re-creating the iTunes Library file.

  • How do I uninstall or reinstall itunes when the itunes.mls file is missing and won't do either without it?

How do I uninstall or reinstall itunes when the itunes.mls file is missing and won't do either without it? Have done a search for the file extension on PC and two external hard drives. Doesn't show up.

Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?
