How do I uninstall Firefox and other related files from a Mac laptop computer?

I want to remove Firefox and other files that may not be removed from my Mac laptop computer. How do I do this?

Firefox also stores personal data in the Firefox profile folder in two locations (main profile and cache files, see about:cache).
*/Users/<user>/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles/<profile>/
*/Users/<user>/Library/Caches/Firefox/Profiles/<profile>/Cache

In Mac OS X v10.7 and later, the ~/Library folder is a hidden folder.

    Uninstalling Software: The Basics
Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash.  Applications may create preference files that are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder.  Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space.  If you want you can look for them in the above location and delete them, too.
Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application.  In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder.  You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder.  You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder.  Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item.  Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder.  Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences.  Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab.  Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.
Some software use startup daemons or agents that are a new feature of the OS.  Look for them in /Library/LaunchAgents/ and /Library/LaunchDaemons/ or in /Home/Library/LaunchAgents/.
If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term.  Unfortunately Spotlight will not look in certain folders by default.  You can modify Spotlight's behavior or use a third-party search utility, EasyFind, instead.
Some applications install a receipt in the /Library/Receipts/ folder.  Usually with the same name as the program or the developer.  The item generally has a ".pkg" extension.  Be sure you also delete this item as some programs use it to determine if it's already installed.
There are many utilities that can uninstall applications.  Here is a selection:
        1. AppZapper
        2. AppDelete
        3. Automaton
        4. Hazel
        5. AppCleaner
        6. CleanApp
        7. iTrash
        8. Amnesia
        9. Uninstaller
      10. Spring Cleaning

  • Does CRM supports firefox and other browsers apart from IE

    Hi,
can you pls share if CRM supports firefox and other browsers apart from IE. are their any specific settings to enable other browsers?
    any documentation would be helpful.
    thanks
    RH

    RH,
From The PAM choose the link SAP Application Components->SAP CRM.
Then pick your release of CRM.  Then in the release detail information,  choose the web browser and/or web browser platform tabs.
I.e. I did this for CRM 4.0 and found that basically only IE was supported for IC webclient.
    Take care,
    Stephen

  • How do I remove Safari including all related files on a Mac?

    Hi,
How do I completely remove Safari, including perferences and other related files?
I want to do a fresh re-install of Safari.
I downloaded Safari from the Internet so I got the software to install.
However installing it on top of my old Safari installation does not resolve the specific issue I have with Safari.
In other words, reinstalling doesn't help as the problem carries over in some way.
It's worth nothing that I don't have the issue on any of my other macs. Just on the iMac and I want to get back to a situation where the iMac works as before the issue occured.
Already tried to empty cache and following some other advice that might be causing the issue I have. All to no avail.
So now I want to completely remove Safari so I'm sure nothing caries over from before the re-install.
    How to do that?

Removing Safari won't help. and since you've tried reinstalling and that didn't help... try some troubleshooting.
Login to another user account on your Mac. Try Safari there. Same issues there, then it's possible the startup disk needs repairing. Help here.   http://support.apple.com/error/503.html?locale=en_US&viewlocale=en_US
(The support pages are down for a bit but should be up soon). If the startup disk needs repairing, follow the instructions at that link when it's available.
If Safari is ok in another account then at least you know it's not a system wide issue.
Try troubleshooting the Safari .plist file. Quit Safari if it's open.
Open a Finder window. Select your Home Folder in the Sidebar on the left. It has a small house icon. Then open the Library folder then the Preferences folder. Move the com.apple.Safari.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Desktop. Open Safari. If it functions as it should, move that .plist file to the Trash. If not, move it back to the Preferences folder.
Next, check Safari / Preferences - Extensions. Turn that off if you have any installed, then try Safari.
Next.. try resetting Safari. From the menu bar click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 7 buttons, click Reset.

  • How can I uninstall Bootcamp and Recover the partition for the Mac HD

How can I uninstall Bootcamp and recover the partition for the IMac HD?

Boot into OSX.  Go back into the Bootcamp utility in the Utilities folder and re-run it.  It will give you the option to remove the Windows partition and make the OSX partition fill the whole drive again.  OSX will NOT be lost in the process.  No re-installing necessary.  Only takes a few minutes or less to complete.

  • How do I uninstall Firefox and switch my bookmarks to safari

How do I switch my firefox bookmarks to safari and then uninstall firefox?

If I remember well you may hav a choice upon starting Safari for the first time to import other bookmarks. If that's the case you should trash Firefox after setting up Safari.
If you can't do it then export your bookmarks from Firefox before removing it. You can trash the app manually, then you must trash Mozilla preferences (org.mozilla.firefox.plist) and Users/yourname/Library/Application Support/Firefox, Users/yourname/Library/Application Support/Mozilla, Users/yourname/Library/Cahes/Firefox. You can also use an application like AppDelete. When done you can import your bookmarks in Safari.

  • How do I delete Firefox and other files from my MacBook Pro computer

I want to remove Firefox and all other files that may not be removed from my MacBbok Pro laptop.
MAcBook Pro, 17inch, 2.4GHZ. Processor 2.6 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo.
PLease tell me how to do this. Thanks.

I don't know how Firefox installs, but if you just dragged it into the Applications folder, you can drag it to the Trash and empty it.
If it had an installer, then you need to use the uninstaller provided by the developer.
What are the other "files that may not be removed?" It doesn't sound like much of a good idea.

  • My Firefox hangs, I hadn't used an earlier program, I was railroaded into downloading it by AVG, it dosen't work for me, how do I uninstall it and still get benefit from AVG?

I do not feel I had a free choice in downloading Mozilla Firefox and was railroaded into it by AVG when I renewed with them. Can I get rid of Firefox and still use AVG, as I think it is worse than Internet Explorer and seems to throw up more problems.

  • How do you remove iTunes and other Apple products from my PC, manually?

    I just bought a $250 5th-gen iPod. But I can't install iTunes.
A while back, I think I just deleted the program folder or something, or maybe the the uninstaller just somehow broke on its own. In any case, the program folder is gone and the uninstaller doesn't work.
Running the iTunes installer gives me the following error:
The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.
Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'iTunes.msi' in the box below.
I did a search and found the iTunes.msi file in a temp folder. I selected it in the installer to try to solve the problem, but I received another error message:
The file "C:\Documents and Settings\HP_Owner\Local Settings\Temp\IXP460.TMP\iTunes.msi" is not a valid installation package for the product iTunes. Try to find the installation package 'iTunes.msi' in a folder from which you can install iTunes.
So, I uninstalled QuickTime and tried to manually remove every iTunes files and iTunes-related registry entry. No good.
When I run the iTunes installer now, it hangs\freezes when it gets to "Registering modules."
The only solution to the problem is a full manual uninstall.
I called Apple tech support and explained the problem, and they said that registry issues were a third-party problem, emailing me a tech support page I'd already read and suggesting I call Microsoft -- but oh, she said, make sure you don't tell them it's a problem with iTunes registry entries "or they'll refer you back to us."
Yes, because what the iTunes installer does to my PC is not a third-party issue.
I don't blame the tech support people, though, and I hope my post here doesn't lead to any of them being reprimanded.
Anyway, my request is simple: Someone, anyone, give me a list of every file and registry entry that Apple software adds to my computer, so I can remove it manually.

When I run the iTunes installer now, it hangs\freezes when it gets to "Registering modules."
hmmmmm. by any chance do you have SpyCatcher (or the version of GhostSurf platinum that contains SpyCatcher) on that PC?
if so, try uninstalling SpyCatcher altogether prior to the itunes install. if it goes through properly this time, launch itunes at least once prior to reinstalling SpyCatcher.
    see:
iTunes 7 or later for Windows Installation stops responding while "registering modules"

  • How do you uninstall mail and delete associated files?

I just find the mail application annoying and I never use it.  I'd like to clear out any application I dont use to free up space on my hard disk ... How do I do this?

The mail app only takes up a very tiny amount of space - 60.4mb for the application itself.  I don't think it is worth deleting and I would advise against it.  But if you insist..
I haven't tried this myself, but this is what I found while searching:
Drag Mail.app to the trash and delete it.
use AppZapper which will find everything related to Mail.app and delete it too.
got to Home > Library > Preferences and delete the file "com.apple.mail.plist".
Then go to Home > Library and delete the folder called "Mail". That should get rid of the last traces.

  • How can I locate and delete torrent files from my mac

I recently deleted a bunch of old files from macbook air from a p2p website I use (vuze.com) when I checked back on my hdd it was still full, and loaded with 'other files' which I'm pretty sure are torrents. I'm wondering how I can find these files (because I can't seem to locate them with spotlight) and trash them? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

For starters... you may already know this, but be sure to empty your trash.  You can use something like OmniDiskSweeper (free) to show where most of your space is being taken up.  It will list your folders/files in order of size.  This will generally make any folder which is excessively large show up right away:
