How do I uninstall OSX Lion

any bright people out there know how to uninstall OSX Lion off a macbook pro?

Sure.. reinstall from scratch is one approach.. but it's probably easier to fix the issues.
What's the problem?
Try repair permissons and restart. Try installing 10.7.3 Combo from your desktop. Try deleting "-" the wifi service in Systems Preferences/Network, and then recreate it "+". Then restart.

  • How do i get OSX LION back on the computer?

I dropped my laptop and the hard drive is no longer working. I am going to purchase a new hard drive and install it but my question is how do i get OSX LION back on the computer? I will be installing a new bare drive and I heard that Lion is download only. I also want to make sure i get all the apps i had back too. any help or guidance is appreciated. thanks!

this is my opinion. but in this case, you need to install previous OS that has a dvd, which in my case, i installed Snow Leopard first. it cost 30 dollars new.
after you have SL operates and do all software updates, you can download lion and install it over snow leopard.
hope someone here have a better and quicker solution straight to Lion.

How can I uninstall OSX Mavericks?

    onpetree,
you can’t uninstall Mavericks, but you could erase your MacBook Pro’s internal disk and reïnstall its original version of OS X — the exact method depends upon which model of MacBook Pro you have.

  • How many copies of osx lion can you install from one itunes account

How many install can you ut into efect from one itunes account with osx lion?

I believe it's five.  It's tied to how many computers you can authorize with one iTunes account. (The same applies to music, apps, and other stuff downloaded from the iTunes Store)
The iTunes, 5 computer limit does not apply here.  As per the license agreement, if you obtain Lion via the Mac app store, you are granted permission to install on all Snow Leopard Macs that you personally own/control.  If you have Lion pre-installed on a new Mac or obtain it via a USB key purchase method (reportedly coming in August), the license only permits use on one Mac.

  • How do I uninstall mountain lion and reinstall snow leopard

If I had known that I would not be able to use my excel files I would not have purchased OSX Mountain Lion.  Is there a way to uninstall mountain lion and reinstall snow leopard?
    Thank you,

To get more to the point the answer is the only way to go back to SnowLeopard is if you have a complete backup of your system from before the upgrade.
If you do you would boot off your original SL DVD wipe the disk and install SL and then restore from your SL backups.
Short of that here is no way to go back. But as the others have offered there are other less drastic means to deal with the problem.

  • How do I install osx lion server in vmware fusion (app store version)

i cannot seem to find a way to get a .dmg to download to use / mount / whatever
    mac mini running osx lion

I just get the "server" application,
Tried sending it to trash and tried redownloading just to the point where the "downloader" completes but it looks like the server application reappeared.
Is the server no longer a operating system and is downgraded to a application that runs on top of OSX 10.7?
How would I go about running OSX Lion then in Vmware fusion then?
It came preinstalled on my mac mini.

  • How do I download osx Lion v 10.9?

    How do I download osx v 10.9?

There is no Lion 10.9. 10.9 is Mavericks, and you can download it for free through your App Store application.
    Upgrading to Mavericks
You can upgrade to Mavericks from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mavericks can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for FREE.
    Upgrading to Mavericks
To upgrade to Mavericks you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Download Mavericks from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mavericks is free. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
        OS X Mavericks- System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mavericks
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.

  • HT4718 how can i get osx lion its not on the app store and i have factory reset my macbook pro and now cant download even though i brought it a year ago?

i might be stupid, but i cant find osx lion which i paid for a year or so ago, all it shows is mountion lion which i would have to buy. anyone have any ideas as to how i can redownload lion osx, 10.7.5 thanks.

Hopefully, you saved a copy of that ill-designed installer which deletes itself during the installationi process, necessitating wasting resource DLing it over and over again. Sheer madness and toatlly anit-green in behavior.

  • How can I install OSX lion on my completely wiped mac mini?

I have a 2011 mac mini server edition (Without CD drive), and tried to partition it to a RAID0 last night. I reformatted both drives (Just the inner partitions, so It shouldn't have affected the recovery partition), and now it will not boot.
When I turn the computer on, it flashes a question mark folder, and when I boot with option, it gives me a list of wireless networks on a grey screen. When I select my network, it logs into it, but doesn't do anything further. It will not let me boot into the recovery partition at all.
How can I re-install lion on this computer? I do have a firewire cable, so I could do target disc mode if that's even possible.
    Thanks!

That just isn't practical for me, to be booting off an external.
Would a flash drive work, or something to that effect?
nope, you need a external drive 1TB in size to hold all the data from the 2-500GB's and double as a backup when the RAID 0 fails which they are twice as likely to do.
you can only install OS X on a Mac, so once it's there you clone it to the 1TB, option boot from it, create the RAID and reverse clone.
no  Lion Recovery, that's why you need another way to get Lion back, that's why you got to make the Lion Recovery USB first before doing anything.

  • How do I install OSX Lion that shipped with my 2011 Mac Mini onto my 2011 Macbook Pro

Reading the documentation for OSX Lion suggests that it is a multi-device lisence OS and that it should appear in my App Store as purchased Apps, but I don't see it.

If you purchased Lion through the App Store it should appear there and be downloadable / installable on all of your compatible Macs, this is the only way to install it on all of your Macs as far as I am aware.  It is just £25 so not a big deal to purchase, but I would wait for Mountain Lion now.  I don't think the pre-installed Mac OS appears as a purchase in the App Store, though it would be nice if it did as technically you purchased the licence for it when you purchased your Mac (though perhaps a slightly different licence?)

  • How do I uninstall Mountain Lion and restore the prior program?

I am having too much trouble with my iMac since purchasing and downloading Mountain Lion.  Can anyone give me simple directions on how to uninstall the OS and revert back to the prior program.  I am not a computer savant!   thanks

Unfortunately, installing a previous version of OS X is not simple. It might be easier to try to address the issues you're having with 10.8 - if you can explain what's happening, we can try to help.

  • How do I uninstall OS Lion and revert to Snow Leopard

Hi all, I need to use Microsoft Office Mac Version in my work. And OS X Lion don't support that. I am desparate to know how do I unistall the OS X Lion, and revert to Snow Leopard so that I can resume working on my MacBook Pro. Please help.....

MS Office for mac 2004 is indeed incompatible I believe but 2008 onwards isn't. You should consider upgrading your MS Office to be compatible. Apple is not responsible for making 3rd party software compatible with its OS, its the 3rd party developers who updates their softwares and drivers.
You can certainly revert back to Lion BUT it depends what type of machine do you have?Did you purchase Lion as an upgrade?is your machine Lion preinstalled?

  • How to remove/uninstall OSX Server Demo

    Hi all,
I installed the OSX Server Demo disc I received from Apple that has an expiry date June 30th, 2009. Long story short, it's not suitable for my needs. Now, how do I remove it without affecting anything existing. There doesn't seemed to be any option anywhere.

I suggest you ask in the server forum

  • How do I uninstall OSX Tiger?

I'll get right to the point. I need to remove OSX Tiger from my Mac. It has never run properly since installation over a year ago (just too slow) and I have been running on 10.2.8 instead (the two OS are on separate hard drives). Now the computer is exhibiting some strange symptoms, and I'm trying to remove everything non-essential to help me figure out where/what the problem might be.
I tried dragging the Tiger System folder to the trash but was told that I couldn't do that because "this item is owned by the root". How do I get rid of Tiger? Don't get me wrong, I have Tiger on my other Mac and love it, but it just isn't compatible with my older machine unless I make some expensive upgrades.
Thanks for any help you can give me!

Hi Tomellis. I know you said that you have two drives in your Mac. If you have one, use an external drive to backup EVERYTHING before you do anything.
Trust me, when the fatal QT 7.2 update crashed my MBP, I was very thankful to have a backup drive just incase.
After you backup your data (remember, the backup is just incase something happens), you could take the original install disks that came with your Mac. Then you could boot off of it and use the "archive and install" feature to box-up Tiger in one folder on one of your internal hard drives and you could put Jaguar or Panther back on. Your posts say you have a Blueberry G3, so I'm guessing you had Jaguar.
My Tiger disks had many features to choose from, so you should start there.
You don't have to backup your stuff, but I'd recommend it because it could help.
Hope you fix up your Mac the way you want it.

Great help from ~Bee so far, just to add...
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.
One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
    Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode), or Airport, or some USB or Firewire device, or 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.
Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.
See if the Disk is issuing any S.M.A.R.T errors in Disk Utility...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH7029
Open Activity Monitor in Applications>Utilities, select All Processes & sort on CPU%, any indications there?
How much RAM & free space do you have also, click on the Memory & Disk Usage Tabs.
Open Console in Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when this happens.
In the Memory tab, are there a lot of Pageouts?
