How do I uninstall Photoshop Elements 4.0 on a Mac?

I need to uninstall Photoshop Elements 4.0, it seems to be missing some information in the tutorials and in Bridge. I am on a Mac G5, OS 10.4.11
Thank you.

I'd just trash it but to be sure you do it right I'd ask in the Elements forum since most Photoshop users don't use Elements.

Just go to Help>Deactivate in the editor before you uninstall.

  • How do I uninstall photoshop elements 6 (windows) when there is not option in add-remove programs

How do I uninstall photoshop elements 6 (windows) when there is not option in add-remove programs.  I have looked on my hard drive extensively for a library or utility folder that would have an uninstall program, nothing.  I want to install Elements 9, but have found out that Elements 9 does not remove Elements 6, so I want to remove elements 6 first.

Strange that PSE6 does not show up via the control pane.
I wouldn’t worry about uninstalling it. The two versions sit happily side by side and PSE6 takes up hardly any file space compared with PSE9.

  • How can I uninstall Photoshop Elements 10

I've tried to uninstall Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 but have had no success. I've uninstalled many programs so I know how it's done, but nothing works when I try to uninstall this program. Nealeh gave me some hints in another forum but I don't know how to use them.
I have Windows 7 and went through the uninstall process several times. When it looks like the uninstall Wizard is finally going to do the job, I get this message: "To deactivate your application please connect to the Internet and try again or else continue without deactivating or cancel."
I tried to uninstall with and without the Internet connection. Nothing works. There must be a straightforward way to get rid of this program.

    Hi Tommyvincent,
In addition to Barbara please check via Help > Deactivate whether this option is grayed out or not?
If it is then it can be because of the following reasons:
It's a volume license serial number, which doesn't have a specific activation count--the Deactivate option is not applicable.
The activation failed (silently) and the product is running without being activated--therefore deactivating is not possible.
If none of these situations apply and Deactivate is still dimmed, contact Adobe Customer Service http://adobe.ly/yxj0t6.
    Hope this helps.

  • How do I "uninstall" Photoshop Elements 4.0

I have two versions of Photoshop Elements 4.0 installed on our computer.
One in German (we use to live in Europe), which I would like to remove, and one in English.
I loaded the new english program, thinking it would override the other but what happens is when using the english version, the help file comes up in German.
I have tried moving the application to the trash and reloading, but it doesn't work.
Now when I use spotlight, I have 3 Photoshop Elements applications that come up under applications, the original German one, and now two for the english one which I have loaded twice.
    Can anyone help me?

It would probably be best to uninstall all of them, and then reinstall one fresh copy of the one you want.
Since Photoshop Elements installs lots of files all over the place on your mac, you'll want to use an uninstall application; one of the best is AppZapper. Download a free trial at [www.appzapper.com]
It locates all the bits and pieces of your application, and lets you "zap" it off of your hard drive.

  • How do I uninstall photoshop elements 4?

I have bought and installed Photoshop Elements 11 and now want to uninstall the old version 4.
The latter does not work correctly on the Mac OS 10.6.8

You are correct there was some additional files located in your Library/Application Support/Adobe.  Without an uninstaller I would only recommend removing this folder after removing all Adobe software currently installed on your computer.
We would typically only remove this folder if there was installation issues or some other unexpected behavior regarding Photoshop Elements 4.
Overall I would not be concerned by the small amount of disc space used by these remaining files.  They should not affect the behavior of Photoshop Elements 11.  Especially if you have already installed the software successfully.

  • How do I uninstall Photoshop Elements 8?

I purchased and installed Photoshop Elements 12 and am now trying to uninstall version 8.  When trying to uninstall from the Control Panel program I get an Error 1316.A.  It also tells me to deactivate and remove the old S. #. from the Help menu--there is no "Deactivate" there.  It also says I need to "close all Adobe products" and there are none open.
Second problem.......The new PSE 12 will not let me do any editing from the organizer.

Have you got your original CDs and serial number?  I assume you bought the boxed version from some big stores like Amazon.

  • How do I install Photoshop Elements 10 on my new mac that doesn't have a disc drive?

Help!  I have an old imac that has Photoshop Elements 10 installed on it.  I bought a new imac that does not have a disc drive.  How do I uninstall/reinstall on my new computer???  Is there a way besides having to purchase a disc drive?

    John
Thank you for working this through with me.
Okay, so I'm going to describe the step-by-step following of the instructions [which I thought I had done before ]. If you see where I'm making an error can you point it out to me.
    1. I clicked on the link in your post of May 13 which took me to a page called "Direct Download Links for Adobe Photoshop/Premier Elements 10". I have basic Elements, not Premier and I need to get PSE 10 onto a Mac, which the site says I will only need a "single .dmg file for each program".  Then I
    2. logged in to the Adobe account ( required by instructions ) set up when I bought the disc version last August.
    3. I turned "cookie control" to accept all; having a Mac I have no antivirus software nor any firewalls
    4. I "clicked here to visit this page" in the instructions .........BUT ............ that took me to a PSE 11 download page, not 10
    5. That dropped a .dmg called "AdobeDownloadAssistant.dmg" into my downloads box.
    6. I opened the .dmg file, which took me to a window with an "Install Adobe Download Assistant" folder icon which
    7. I opened. I was asked if I wanted to download it from the internet; I clicked "Open"
    8. Another window opened; its message said "The same version of the application you opened already exists on this system. Would
you like to run the version already installed?".
         A. Because I used the same Adobe i.d. when I tried the download on the Air as I used when I created the Adobe account on the
MacBookPro I wondered if Adobe thinks the PSE10 on my older MacBookPro is on the newer Air. I did check the Applications
listed in the Air's Finder and PSE 10 was not there although I had tried to install it earlier today before my first post on this matter
         in this forum.
         B. Given the above, I clicked on a "Run Now" option in the window mentioned in the first line of # 8 here and it
    9.  Took me to a Adobe Download Assistant window with a message "Make the most of your trial " referring apparently to 11
when what I want to put onto the Air is the 10 I bought last August. I did check the registration on Adobe's site of the purchase
of 10 last August and it showed everything correctly, including "mul" which I took to mean I could put it on multiple laptops.
         Maybe !
    10. I was aksed in that box to choose my level of familiarity with photo editing software and I chose the middle one.
    11. I also noticed in the bottom third of that box a blue download bar which got "stuck" at about 2/3 done. The yellow triangle with
an exclamation point inside was followed by this message : "Error downloading this product (Error 109). Check you network
connection or destination disk. You can also uses the "Reset product download" button.  My network connection was full bars
         the whole time.
Given that there was an error message - that the download was not complete - that explains my surprise in # 8 above that
"the download already exists........". That can't be given the error message I quoted in # 11.
    12. There is/was no "Reset download button" to be seen so I cllcked on an 'x' by it and it closed the stalled download bar.
And, after all this voluminous [sorry] activity that's where I'm stuck.
No PSE 10 on the Air
    Can't d/l a trial of 11, even if I wanted to.
    Extremely frustrating.
Adboe's website does not appear to offer any contact with an Adobe person to solve this other than paying $39, which does not seem right.

  • How do I transfer Photoshop Elements 9 (download) from old Mac to new Macbook Pro running Mavericks?

I will be replacing my Macbook Pro with a new Macbook running Mavericks and want to transfer my (downloaded) Photoshop Elements 9 to the new computer. How is it done?

You can download the trial version of the software thru the page linked below and then use your current serial number to activate it.
Be sure to follow the steps outlined in the Note: Very Important Instructions section on the download pages at this site and have cookies enabled in your browser or else the download will not work properly.

  • Uninstalling Photoshop Elements 6 & 8 on a Mac

I want to uninstall PSE 6 and 8 on my Mac without destroying my present setup on PSE 9. Is it as simple as dragging them to the trash or are there other files that need to be deleted as well?

Is it as simple as dragging them to the trash
No! You can't uninstall PSE 6 or 8 by dragging them to the trash. You MUST use the uninstaller. For PSE 6, the uninstaller is the installer. Just put your disc in the drive or double click the disk image (if you have a download version) and follow the steps you did to install it. When you get to the screen where you chose Install Components last time, this time choose Remove Components.
For PSE 8, there is a link to the uninstaller in the PSE 8 folder in applications.
Doing this shouldn't affect PSE 9, at least in theory.
EDIT for PSE 8, don't forget to deactivate it (help>deactivate) before uninstalling.

  • How do I uninstall Photoshop Elements 9?

Just wondering if i need an uninstall app or just grag it to the trash. Thanks

    Uninstalling Software: The Basics
Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash.  Applications may create preference files that are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder.  Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space.  If you want you can look for them in the above location and delete them, too.
Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application.  In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder.  You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder.  You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder.  Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item.  Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder.  Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences.  Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab.  Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.
Some software use startup daemons or agents that are a new feature of the OS.  Look for them in /Library/LaunchAgents/ and /Library/LaunchDaemons/ or in /Home/Library/LaunchAgents/.
If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term.  Unfortunately Spotlight will not look in certain folders by default.  You can modify Spotlight's behavior or use a third-party search utility, EasyFind, instead.
Some applications install a receipt in the /Library/Receipts/ folder.  Usually with the same name as the program or the developer.  The item generally has a ".pkg" extension.  Be sure you also delete this item as some programs use it to determine if it's already installed.
There are many utilities that can uninstall applications.  Here is a selection:
        1. AppZapper 2.0.1
        2. AppDelete 3.2.6
        3. Automaton 1.50
        4. Hazel
        5. AppCleaner 2.1.0
        6. CleanApp
        7. iTrash 1.8.2
        8. Amnesia
        9. Uninstaller 1.15.1
      10. Spring Cleaning 11.0.1

  • How do I move photoshop elements 9 from an old mac to a new mac?

I recently got a Macbook Air and I'm trying to move PSE from my old mac to this one. When I try to just move it from my external hard drive, I get error 6. Elements came with my bamboo tablet purchase, and I am like 98% sure I don't have a serial number. Am I royally screwed?

Moving Adobe applications between machines seldom has positive results.  You need to install using installation files - you can download them from Adobe.  You should check your Adobe account online to see if you ever registered the software.  If you did then your serial number might be available there.  If you find it then you can use it to activate a downloaded installation.
