How do I uninstall Safari 4?

I need to uninstall Safari 4 and reload Safari 3.
Mail has stopped working the moment it was installed.
This is in a work environment, where we connect to an Exchange Server.
When I installed Safari 4 Beta I had to uninstall it because it would make Mail crash.
Apple did supply an uninstall app with the Beta version – does anyone have this or know where I can get it? Or if they have one for the full version?
We don't have Time Machines at work because I work in a bank and we don't encourage external hard drives!

I have a theory this is an incompatibility with Safari 4 on PowerPC machines (not intel) running Leopard.
No, my Powerbook G4 running Leopard 10.5.7 is absolutely flying with Safari 4.0.2 and I know a couple of other people with G4s and G5s running Leopard and having no issues whatever with Safari 4.
I have tested running on firefox, it crashes as well. I read the crash logs and found that it is complaining about the java. I believe that the java version that comes with the Safari 4 is the culprit
Safari updates and Java Updates are completely separate. There was a Java update released after Safari 4. Have you installed that yet? I have and am not having Java issues with any sites, secure or not.
Cheers

  • How do i uninstall Safari 5.1.5?

Finally discovered WHY I can no longer access the USGS Map Locator.  I update Safari a couple of weeks ago to 5.1.5 and just now found out it REQUIRES OS X Security Update 2012.001 which I CANNOT install.  This security update KILLS all capability of using the Classic Apps and I require two that do not have an appropriate useful app on the market today.  I have several THOUSAND files, especially in AW graphics that nothing today can open and many of these files are image,s abeit in .cwk format, that I need to refer to at time.
Now, HOW do I UNINSTALL 5.1.5 so I can reinstall 5.1.4?

Well, then this is not the avenue to pursue? While those two were associated with earthlink, they were nonetheless regarded with suspicion as having something to do with ad tracker stuff. Unfortunately, all the refernces I found seemed to require more technical knowledge than my feeble mind can assimilate. What would happen if I did delete them, assuming that's even possible? At this point then, can I assume that the problem I'm having is not coming from Safari itself at all? Sorry to keep throwing the questions. Kevin

  • How do I uninstall safari 4 beta?

I am a new mac user so any help would be appreciated. I have a new macbook. I downloaded and installed safari 4 beta and don't like the problems it causes. I can't access hotmail. I can get in but can't open any of the emails. I also can't click and open links in emails. I want to uninstall safari beta 4 but don't know how. I'd like to go back to the previous version. Any help would be appreciated and remember I'm a newbie mac user so be gentle!

That would normally work if there was a previous version installed. However, I deleted all my previous versions and the Uninstaller will not uninstall Safari since it can't find a previous version. I downloaded an earlier version 3.2.3 but it tells me that I have a later version installed and won't install 3.2.3. Furthermore, whatever version I bring up has concierge in its header line which I can't get rid of either. Finally, Safari continues to crash even after I reset it, delete whatever concierge items I can find on my computer, etc. Help is disparately needed. Fortunately, I am an old Firefox user, and now trying Camino and Opera but I would like help in figuring out how to use Safari. Thanks.

  • How do I uninstall safari 7

Fidelity told me to upgrade browser. I installed safari 7 only to find out my macbook pro doesn't support it. How do I uninstall?

If  you need to use Safari 7, then you need to upgrade the version of OS X you are using. I believe you need Mountain Lion or later. Since Mountain Lion and Mavericks are no longer provided by Apple, you would need to upgrade to Yosemite.
    Upgrading to Yosemite
You can upgrade to Yosemite from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Yosemite can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for FREE.
    Upgrading to Yosemite
To upgrade to Yosemite you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Download Yosemite from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Yosemite is free. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
        OS X Mavericks/Yosemite - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Yosemite
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.

  • How do I uninstall Safari 5.0.6 and re-install an older version?

I have an older iMac running Leopard OS X 10.5.8 and I accidently downloaded and installed a version of Safari (5.0.6) that is not supported by Leopard OS X 10.5.8. So now my old version of Safari is gone and I cannot figure out how to un-install Safari 5.0.6. I downloaded an older version of Safari (5.0.3) that should be supported by OS X 10.5.8 but when I go to install it, I get the error message that "a newer version of Safari already exists". Any suggestions would be MUCH appreciated.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
If you have a Time Machine backup, you can try starting from the Mac OS X DVD (pressing C key while your Mac is starting) and select the option to restore the Time Machine backup on Utilities menu.
If you haven't got a backup, you have to reinstall Mac OS X. Insert the Mac OS X DVD and reinstall Leopard. After reinstalling Mac OS X, open  > Software Update to install the most recent version, so Safari will be working after doing this

Simply run the uninstaller that came with the Safari 4 disk image. It will uninstall Safari 4 and restore Safari 3.2.1. There were only two files on the Safari 4 disk image, the installer and the uninstaller. Did you not notice it?
If you deleted the disk image you need to download it again and run the unistaller.

  • How do I uninstall Safari 3.1.2 Beta??

2 days ago, I had the latest update of Safari which happened to be 3.0.4 I believe. I downloaded and installed the beta and didn't like it much so I decided I wanted to revert back to the older version.
Searching online, people told me to use the installer to uninstall the beta but there was no uninstall option in the pkg when I open it. Therefore I just drug the Safari app to the trash can and emptied it hoping I could just run system update and get the lastest previous version of Safari and be ok. The only problem is, It still thinks Im using the beta
I managed to find version 2.01 off of my OSX install CD so I installed that to get back online. My system however still thought I was running 3.1 so it will not let me update or "downgrade" in the system's eyes back to 3.0.4. I decided to run the Beta install once again to see if there would be an "uninstall" option when I ran the installer again, but no avail. So I'm still using 3.1.2.
All I want to do is get back to 3.0. I have no clue how to uninstall this update.
Is there anyone who can help me?
    Thanks in advance.

Safari 3.04 is not a beta, so that's part of the problem. The most recent version is Safari 3.1.2, which is also not a beta, and that's the version you should be using.
You cannot go back to 3.0.x for Safari. What makes you believe you need to not use 3.1.2, since it provides numerous stability improvement for Java, JavaScript, and fixes security vulnerabilities as well?

  • How to totally uninstall safari 5

    Hi
i'm having the same problems, and its starting to do my head in now!! how can i un install safari 5.. i've deleted everything packages even had a app do it for me, and when i come to put safari 4 in it wont let me, keeps saying there is a never version already installed.. so where is it getting this info from so i can delete it too? then finally install safari 4 :P
    Regards

It's high time that the myth of Safari 5 causing a rift in the space-time continuum and not working for anybody is laid to rest.
It works for the vast majority and there is no need whatever to revert to a previous version.
When it does not work, at least not perfectly, there are a few possible causes, all of which have remedies.
    1. Third-party plug-ins, add-ons, extension managers, whatever, have yet to be updated by their developers to comply with Safari 5 and therefore crash Safari.
Solution: Disable or delete them. You fill find them in one or more of these folders:
    Home/Library/Input Managers
    Hard Disk/library/Input Managers
    Hard Disk/Library/Application Support
(The one that caused most problems was the CT toolbar/ct plugin. Instructions for removing that has been posted many times, but please post back for a repeat.)
Close Safari and delete them, then restart Safari and it should be working normally. Alternatively drag them to the desktop and restart Safari. then add them back one at a time, restarting Safari every time, until you find the one (or more) causing the crash.
Check with the developers of the plug-ins in question for updates that are Safari 5 compliant.
    2. Safari hangs/does not finish loading web pages, or gives "Failed to find Server" messages etc.
(You should clear you cache and history files regularly.)
Probably a conflict between the DNS numbers supplied by your ISP and the way Safari 5 now does things.
Solution: Adding Open DNS codes to your Network Preferences, should give good results in terms of speed-up as well as added security. Open System Preferences/Network. Double click on your connection type, or select it in the drop-down menu, and in the box marked 'DNS Servers' add the following two numbers:
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
(You can also enter them if you click on Advanced and then DNS)
    3. Flash videos no longer play.
    (Particularly common with Snow Leopard)
Solution: You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14157
Now download and install the latest version of Adobe FlashPlayer from here:
    http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1ProdVersion=ShockwaveFlash
and follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.
    4. Still won't work
Solution: download and re-install the latest combo update for your system. Then download and re-install Safari 5 again. Then repair permissions.
    If required, repeat 1 - 3.

  • How do I uninstall Safari v5????

I'm fed up with the slow performance of v5.
If someone can point me to an Apple page the will uninstall v5 and return me to v4.x I would be delighted.
    Thanks.

    Carolyn,
Are you sitting?? I've changed my mind about replacing Safari v5 with v4.x. Why? Because for some reason, Safari v5 has become as fast as I remember v4.x being.
I have not modified Safari in ANY WAY. I have no idea. All I care about is that it now performs at least as well as v4.x did and it does that and perhaps more.
Now, to be fair in all of this, I will acknowledge that I am using an AT&T DSL service. When I decided to dump Safari for FireFox I was downloading the latest FF upgrade. Wanna know what my download speed was?? I'll tell ya - a WHOLE 33 KB/sec!! Who said dial up was dead??
Point being that I know there are a LOT of VARIABLES involved when surfing, so some of my v5 issues may have been due to the speed-of-light AT&T service, but I cannot verify that. It just smells like it.
Anyway, Safari v5 is jammin' now and that makes my day.
    Thanks for the help.
