How do I uninstall snow leopard? please help

Hey everyone, I am having a lot of troubles with snow leopard and since its not really a BIG difference between leopard, i decided to go back to leopard, so ok.
I got my 17 inch mac book pro, it came with leopard, and with the snow leopard installation cd, and i installed it, now, my question is, how do i uninstall snow leopard without leaving any trace??
please help, its really urgent
I want to go back to leopard

To do the most in terms of leaving no trace, you will need to do an erase and install. Start from your Leopard DVD by holding down c when starting up. Next, when able, choose your language and stop. Then, using the menus at the top, select Disk Utility; check to see that your volume's partition is GUID; and make it GUID if necessary. Then, erase your drive. Next, quit Disk Utility and continue the install. After the install is complete, insert your Leopard applications disk and install the programs you want. Now, you are done except for restoring you data, apps, and settings using whatever media are available to you.
As implied, you need to have a plan to get your data and apps back especially. In this regard, it may be less important for you to get your users and settings back.
If you are not prepared backup-wise, then you can use your Leopard DVD, again by starting up to it, to do an archive and install. Since you want no trace of Snow Leopard, I would not choose the option of preserving user and network settings. After doing an the archive and install, your archives will be in the Previsous Systems folder. Sorry to hear that, Snow Leopard runs as fast or faster than either Tiger and Leopard did on my Jan 2006 Early Intel iMac on 2GB of RAM?
Before you blame Snow Leopard, run the Extended Apple Hardware Test and check the SMART status of your Hard Drive to make sure that you do not have another problem.

It is impossible to read the discs, but only those who were burned with UDF file system. Thank you for your help.

  • HP Photsmart C4680  worked great until Snow Leopard please help

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software and everything is fine until I try to have the printer and the Mac communicate. I have had nothing but problems since Snow Leopard. If someone can help me with my printer problem or tell me how to uninstall Snow Leopard that would be even better. Thankx!

    OK,
I am glad scanning through Preview is working. Scanning through Image Capture and the Desktop Printer should also work. If you want to use HP Scan (which replaced HP Scan Pro), a full Snow Leopard compatible solution for the HP Photosmart C4680 is available from [HP.com|http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=a l-75095-1&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&os=219&product=3739150].

  • How do I uninstall Snow Leopard?

Since I installed Snow Leopard (upgraded from Leopard), I have had problems accessing documents and having documents display correctly.  The software these are in are old versions (CS2 and Exel 2004).  I need these documents and want to go back to Leopard.  Do I simply install Leopard from the CD?  Will that override Snow Leopard?

You would need to do an Erase and Install in order to "uninstall" Snow Leopard. However I think you should troubleshoot why your apps do not run or make sure they are up-to-date. Both are extremely old (pushing 10 years) and could probably use some updating. Snow Leopard is an extremely sound version of OS X so if you are having issues running some specific applicaitons I would recommend troubleshooting why those apps are having troubles.
For example with MS Office, version 2011 has been available for almost 2 years! You will need to buy it but you can find it on Amazon for about $90. Regarding your Adobe Applications, there are also much more up-to-date versions.
While upgrading can be some work, I have found through experience that not updating eventually becomes extremely painful. This is because at some point you will need to upgrade your computer and your old apps will not run due to simple incompatibility so it becomes very expensive to upgrade them all at one time.  It is wise to upgrade one at a time as finances allow.

How can I uninstall snow leopard

You would need to erase/reformat your boot drive. Why do you want to uninstall SL? I find it very stable. If you haven't used the Combo Updater 10.6.8 (as your profile indicates) you may have some issues that were resolved with the final update.

  • How do I uninstall Snow Leopard Server, so that I can revert back to Snow Leopard?

I was experimenting with the Snow Leopard Server DVD on my MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard.  I started the installation process, expecting that it would not install on the Startup Disk, as I had not booted from the DVD.
    To my surprise it installed!
How do I "uninstall" or revert back to Snow Leopard, without have to take such drastic steps that I would lose all of my Snow Leopard System folder contents (such as doing a wipe and starting over with a fresh Snow Leopard install)? Thank you.

I assume by "back up your data" you mean a Time Machine backup?
    Preferably, yes.
I have a BootCamp partition to run Windows; does Time Machine back that up, too?
No, but it won't be affected unless something goes wrong. You still need to back it up, of course, just like all other data.

  • How can I uninstall snow leopard

I bought and installed Snow Leopard, but now my Norton does not work, and i have read there is no solution to this. I would rather just go back to the previous OS.  I have Time capsule, but when Igo back to a desktop prior to the installation, , If I restore it, it does not replace the OS.  Is there a way to manually uninstall the Leopard OS and reinstall the old one?

Upgrade to Lion. Supported, runs well on most - drops support for Rosetta (PowerPC) which is one reason it does run smoothly.
If you can upgrade to Mountain there is more support for newer graphic cards.
I would avoid any pre-SL like plague. And, there is no security support there.
It is always good to list your hardware and have it added to your profile.
    Avoids guess work.
Cloning helps and you can dual boot if you must, but a clean install of SL and all the updates on 2nd drive and then use Setup Assistantant if you want to stay with 10.6.8. Lion or Mountain are very inexpensive downloads form AppStore.
Also, upgrade of the OS over an older copy/version just carries along out of date old unsupported code drivers, apps, utilities that all must be upgraded or removed. Setup Assistant has made ease of migrating to a new OS cleanly much better and smoothly.

  • Epson Print CD  print button Gary out / W, snow leopard - please help.

    Hi
I had the same problem with my MB Pro and an Epson Stylus Photo PX700W printer after upgrading to snow leopard.
I got onto Epson tech support and was advised to do the following (which worked by the way!)
    1) Delete the Epson printer from the "Print & Fax" utility in the "System Preferences"
To do this, open "Print & Fax" and choose the epson printer in the left hand pane under "printers".
    Then hit delete
    2) Go to the Epson support site and download the latest drivers for your printer
    URL = http://www.epson.co.uk/support
    3) Enter your printer type and on the following page choose "drivers and software"
    4) I personally downloaded the driver plus the Print CD application although I believe it may have been the same version as the one I already had installed.
    5) Once the driver package is downloaded use the installer and install as normal
    6) Once installed go back into "Print & Fax" and choose the + button under the printer left hand pane to choose a new printer.
In my case the printer was found on wifi using bonjour and I just chose it
    7) launch the "Print CD" app and try to print
In my case all the options that had been greyed out had returned and I was once most able to print to CD/DVDs
    I hope this helps

  • Com port failed with boot camp and snow leopard - Please help!

Hi. I have been a very happy leopard and macbook user for the last couple of years. This week I upgraded to a macbook pro with OS X 10.6 snow leopard. I set up boot camp with Windows XP SP3as I have a couple of windows only applications that I need to use and they both need serial port. I had a Keyspan USA 19-QW serial adaptor that worked fine with Leopard and my old macbook. I installed the driver that came with the Keyspan adaptor. Now when I plug the adaptor into the USB slot it finds new hardware and says it is ready to use and the adaptor is listed in my ports as being on COM3 in device manager in windows but when I try to run the programs I get the message 'the selected port could not be opened. Either the port is in use by another application, or the port doesn't exist'. I'd be very grateful for any advice you can give me to solve this problem. Do I need to buy a new adaptor? Is this a settings or driver issue? I'm a user and not a techie person so please can you leave me easy step by step help. Many thanks. Karen

And was wodering if snow Leopard is pré installed
    Yes.
And also which disc that came with thé machine has boot camp on it
None. Windows is a separate purchase.
i havé read that to install windows7 you need to pût thé snow leopard disc in to complete thé installation
That refers to the Boot Camp drivers for Windows, not Windows itself.

  • Can't upgrade to Snow Leopard - please help!

I have a 2nd generation (summer of 2009) MacBook Air with 10.5.8. I have the Snow Leopard Family Pack (with 3 valid installs left) and can NOT seem to upgrade.
I tried using the Remote Install app on my iMac (since it has a DVD drive) and it didn't work. I would click on the X to install the new OS, and it would give me a screen saying to restart to begin the process. It would restart and ignore the Remote Install step. Even if I restarted while holding the Option key and selected the remote disk, it still ignored the startup disk or just prompted to restart.
Then I tried installing the Upgrade disk onto a thumb drive. It caused the computer to restart every 10 seconds or so, until I yanked the thumb drive from the USB port. I tried using System Utilities to treat it as the Startup Drive - didn't change anything. Tried several ways that were suggested online: with an erase and restore, with a single GUID partition, etc. NOTHING worked. Same problem every time where the computer will restart every 10 seconds.
HELP! Anyone have a surefire way to make this work???

If you have an 8 GB USB flash drive then start by formatting it properly:
    Drive Preparation
    1.  Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.  If you need to reformat your startup volume, then you must boot from your OS X Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button.  When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  SMART info will not be reported  on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID (for Intel Macs) or APM (for PPC Macs) then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
    6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
When formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer.  Now insert the installer DVD into the optical drive and wait for it to mount on the Desktop.  Do the following:
Clone using Restore Option of Disk Utility
    1. Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
    2. Select the destination volume from the left side list.
    3. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
    4. Check the box labeled Erase destination.
    5. Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
    6. Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the Source entry field.
    7. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the USB flash drive. Source means the Installer Disc Image.

  • Can't install Snow Leopard, please help

I just purchased a new SSD and put it into my MacBook Pro and am replacing my old HDD. I also just purchased Snow Peopard as I lost my original discs and can't see to even run the os install disk. When I power on my MBP it just stays at a blank white screen. I've tried booting holding the apt (option) key as well as the "c" key and nothing happens. I can hear it reading the disk.

Do you know what version of the OS shipped with your MacBook Pro? Or when you bought it?
Generally, you can't boot a Mac with a disk that has an older operating system than the one it shipped with.
As far as I know, the only retail Snow Leopard disks are 10.6.3, so if your Mac shipped with 10.6.4 or later, it won't boot with that disk.
If that is the case, you can contact AppleCare and you will likely be able to order the original disks that came with your Mac. I think they just charge for shipping.
10.6.4 shipped after about June of 2010.

  • Ikon CPP 550 not working under Snow Leopard, please help.

I tried to install the drivers for this. I am using the Fiery X3eTY2 65C-KM PS Color Server v1.0 as the selected driver since that is what I've been using prior to 10.6. But now everytime I go to print, I get this "The printer software was installed incorrectly. Please reinstall the printer’s software or contact the manufacturer for assistance."
Any ideas on how to get this printer to work?

That error is caused by a permissions issue with the fierycupsfilter plugin. EFI have posted an update that can help to resolve the error. You can download the update via this link.
If that doesn't help, then you may have to manually change the permissions. Open Terminal and copy/paste the following line
    sudo chown -R root:wheel usr/libexec/cups/filter/fierycupsfilter
then press ENTER. You will be prompted for your Admin account password. Type this in and press ENTER again. This will change the permissions and get you printing again.

  • How to uninstall Snow Leopard? major font problems in iWork, iLife

All iWork and iLife apps have shocking font problems... so much so that I need to uninstall Snow Leopard and wait for Apple to sort it out. Does anyone know the best way? And how is it possible that these problems are occurring with Apple's inhouse software? Other stuff seems to be working OK so far for the most part. For a bit more detail on my problems, including sample images:
    http://bit.ly/309G0o

Snow lizard cost me $27.000.00 in unusable fonts. We installed snow lizards (what I'm calling it now) and lost 934 fonts. Say 40 were bad fonts and 896 were type 1 postscript. When I explained to the tech person how big this was to the print community, he had no clue. - I'm still waiting to hear back. I have a case number but now I read from another post they knew Snow Lizard would do this. At 30.00 per font that is almost $27,000 to replace what they thought wasn't important. But in the print world of design this is huge. Every layout and ad that needs an update - which take a few minutes is a whole rework. They have no clue what business a mac computer is in or they don't see us as important.
I did find if I load those fonts or the font missing into the InDesign font folder I can get the old ad to make it to pdf. But photoshop and illustrator, I'm screwed. And if I didn't outline the type in illustrator - it's gone. I asked the tech guy if I can go back, and undo this slimy lizard and he said probably not if we do backups. We do backups every hour - this is the print business. I feel forsaken. I've been with apple for so many years.
