How do I uninstall useless applications?

I am not a regular user of OSX and it seems this is an uncommon question as well. Sorry if it is obvious to the mac-ees here. But...
I got recent updates on my Macbook and as a result a crapton of useless stuff was installed. I also want to clean out the other useless stuff.
So how do I uninstall the following useless apps:
iTunes
AppStore
AddressBook
Safari
FrontRow
It seems that even if I "Move to Trash" some of these remain or return on next update.
I want it to make them go away permanently.
Please help.

Thanks Matt
If that were actually true in all cases and disk space were not limited on the laptop then I would happily go with it. But I plug in devices and itunes jumps up and wants me to get an account.
When I want to email I do not use the application that came with the computer. It's lame. So I have this address book get into my stuff occasionally. Sometimes when I want to import contacts via VCF files.
Did I forget MobileMe in my post? I think I did. What does this do anyway? I need no reason to put my information anywhere but on the computer or external drive. What is on my phone and ipad belong there and I sync information selectively and intelligently without itunes (which doesn't effectively work with non Apple phones)
Safari? Really? It also needs to go.
Appstore? I write or download good applications myself. Why would I need appstore? I certainly have no desire nor ability to sell there. So, it also has no use.
These listed apps should not be part of the OS. If they are then somebody needs to learn effective modular object oriented design.

Launch the Activity Monitor in /Utilities and sort by name. Select any that refer to the app (shame you didn't indicate what it was), click on the Quit Process button, and click on Force Quit. When all are gone, empty the trash.

How do I uninstall an application from my home screen? example: I want to remove my fantasy football team website from my home screen. I accidently saved it on the home screen twice, so now I have two of the same thing saved on my home screen.

This is an app, not a web clip from a website?
Not sure how there can be two copies of the same app on your iPhone.
If a web clip from a website, press and hold the icon for the web clip or on the icon for any other app or web clip on the home page where the web clip is located until all icons start to wiggle. Select the X on the icon for the web clip that you want deleted. After the web clip is deleted, press the home button.

    Uninstalling Software: The Basics
Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash.  Applications may create preference files that are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder.  Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space.  If you want you can look for them in the above location and delete them, too.
Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application.  In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder.  You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder.  You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder.  Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item.  Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder.  Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences.  Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab.  Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.
Some software use startup daemons or agents that are a new feature of the OS.  Look for them in /Library/LaunchAgents/ and /Library/LaunchDaemons/ or in /Home/Library/LaunchAgents/.
If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term.  Unfortunately Spotlight will not look in certain folders by default.  You can modify Spotlight's behavior or use a third-party search utility, Easy Find, instead.  Download Easy Find at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.
Some applications install a receipt in the /Library/Receipts/ folder.  Usually with the same name as the program or the developer.  The item generally has a ".pkg" extension.  Be sure you also delete this item as some programs use it to determine if it's already installed.
There are many utilities that can uninstall applications.  Here is a selection:
    AppZapper
    Automaton
    Hazel
    CleanApp
    Yank
    SuperPop
    Uninstaller
    Spring Cleaning
Look for them at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.

  • How can i uninstall an application

how can i unistall an app pls?

Do you want to uninstall an application on your handheld IOS device or on your mac?
On your mac you uninstall applications by running the unistaller that came with your app, or if it does not come with an uninstaller, by deleting it from the "Applications" folder. That may require you to authorize as an administrator.
On your IOS device you hold down on the app in the home screen until it starts to wiggle and then you press the "x" icon in the upper right corner of the app icon to delete it.

I do not know how to uninstall applications from my MacBook Pro.  Right know I need to uninstall Skype

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Most applications can be uninstalled just by dragging their icon from the Applications folder to the Dock, and emptying the Trash. However, there are some apps that need an uninstaller to get deleted completely.
Respecting to uninstall Skype, you can uninstall it by dragging its icon to the Trash, and following some extra steps > https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA12073/how-can-i-completely-uninstall-and-then -reinstall-skype-for-mac-os-x Don't follow the step 8

  • How do you uninstall any application in OS 10 environment

I am not used to OS10 as I am still running OS9.2. Uninstalling in OS 9 is easy just drag the application with the pref. into the trash. But in OS10 I am not so sure as I am a novice. Can someone advise me how to uninstall a program. Thanks alot.

Yes, I know, OS X apps don't come with uninstaller applications. To uninstall a app, do this:
    1) In the Finder, press Command (Apple key) + F together, a Find dialog box should appear.
    2) Set the "Search in:" to Everywhere. Next, right below you should see another 2 chooser thing side by side. Set the first one to Name and the second one to contains. It should say "Name contains". In the blank space, type in the name of the the application you want to delete. For example, if you wanted to delete the program OnyX, you'd type in OnyX and delete all the files that relate to OnyX. Now click "Find"
    3) Now, in the list of files that appears, delete every single one that has your application name somewhere in it. Do not delete files that don't have the application name in them.
    4) There! Your program is uninstalled. Repeat this process for any other application you want to delete.
OK, so this doesn't exactly completely WIPE all the programs' files off the hard drive, but that's the best anyone can do. Some of the files might still remain but they can't do any harm so it's OK.

  • How do i Uninstall my application?

    Hi,
I am very new to MAC OS..i created an installation setup which installs my application in APPLICATIONS and then i can run that...
Like in windows we can uninstall programs...is there a similar way to uninstall applications in MAC OS?
    Please help..
    Thanks,
    Nidhi

    Hi Nidhi
To uninstall a program one should:
    - delete the program itself
    - delete any work files, support files, preferences, etc created by (or for) the program
    - In Windows only, remove any registry entries related to the program. (Mac OS X doesn't have a registry so this doesn't matter)
For many OS X applications, it is sufficient to simply delete the application from the Applications folder, leaving any preference files etc on the computer (on the basis that these files are tiny). This approach is generally inadequate for Windows since it wouldn't update the registry, hence most Windows apps usually have an uninstaller.
For more complex applications OS X apps, it is necessary to create a specific uninstaller and it is up to the developer of the program to provide this.
If you have the developer tools installed on your system, then you can use the PackageMaker application to create a specific installer AND uninstaller for any application which you create.

  • How do I uninstall the Application Manager?

After a difficult installation of Creative Cloud, my Windows 7 64-bit Desktop freezes after a period of time ranging from minutes to hours.  Desktop icons won’t launch, and context menus won’t display.  Quick Launch icons still work OK.
I asked a computer guru with a broad range of knowledge about this. He says he’s seen this before, and it involves processes running in the background.  He recommends using the Adobe cleaner tool to remove the Application Manager.  Yesterday I found a post on where to get it and how to use it, but today, I can’t find it.
So my question is, “Where do I get the cleaner tool and how do I use it to remove just the Application Manager?”

Cwcsdc are you saying that you are experiencing slow performance over multiple Adobe Creative applications?  You can find information on the cleaner tool at CS Cleaner Tool for installation problems | CCM, CS6, CS5.5, CS5, CS4, CS3 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html.  You may want to consider though posting to a couple of the specific product forums if you are experiencing performance issues however.  The CS Cleaner Tool is more likely to help when an install has failed and the Creative application is unable to even open.
