How do I unlock iphone 4s locked to rogers
Hi I bought a used iphone 4S from Cash Converter(Pawn Shop) and i called my dad called our carrier Fido to unlock the phone like he had once before and they told him to contact Rogers because they could not do it. So we contacted rogers and we were bassically told that they couldn't do it either and that we should have some guy in any mall just jailbreak it. So now i have a locked paper weight thatt i cant use. How can i get my iphone 4S unlocked?
So there is no way to get it unlocked other than by Rogers. Thats just beuatiful. The lady who spoke to my dad was very a sure a "third party phone shop" could unlock my phone. Even though i know for a fact from a previous experience all those guys do is jailbreak iphones. Anyways thanks for the help.

The store or person from whom you bought the iPhone should be able to tell you. If not, you can either just try a different carrier's SIM, or perhaps if you call Apple Support they may be able to tell you.

Only the carrier your phone was locked to in France can authorize the official unlocking of your phone. So contact them as to cost/procedure.

3. Select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch when it appears in iTunes under Devices.
4. Select the Summary tab.
5. Select the Restore option.
6. When prompted to back up your settings before restoring, select the Back Up
option (see in the image below). If you have just backed up the device, it is not
necessary to create another.
7. Select the Restore option when iTunes prompts you (as long as you've backed up,
you should not have to worry about restoring your iOS device).
8. When the restore process has completed, the device restarts and displays the Apple
logo while starting up:
After a restore, the iOS device displays the "Connect to iTunes" screen. For updating
to iOS 5 or later, follow the steps in the iOS Setup Assistant. For earlier versions of
iOS, keep your device connected until the "Connect to iTunes" screen goes away or
you see "iPhone is activated."
9. The final step is to restore your device from a previous backup. If you do not have a
backup to restore, then restore as New.
If you are restoring to fix a forgotten Restrictions Code or as a New device, then skip Step 9 and restore as New.
If you mean unlocked from your carrier, then contact them as they are the only ones who can unlock the phone. -

You need to do it through Verizon. Only the carrier the device is locked to can authorize the unlock on the phone. If the GSM side is unlocked, then yes you can use it with a foreign carrier. However, if my memory serves me correctly, the GSM side of the iPhone 5 for Verizon is already unlocked. Try it with a foreign SIM.
