It is not possible to make ringtones from music found on Spotify. As for the "unlock music" part of your question, I am afraid that you will have to clarify what you mean. Hope this at least helped a bit.

I’m glad to hear you upgraded to one of our fabulous Smartphones. As SuzyQ mentioned, ringtones that were previously purchased will not automatically transfer over when you upgrade your device. However, these ringtones are available for repurchase through My Media Retrieval if you login to My Verizon. Have a wonderful night!

If you do not have a back up of the crashed hard drive you can download an app to copy from the iPhone to iTunes on the new hard drive.
I have used Pod2Mac. There is also Pod2PC.
There are numerous choices, some free, some payed. Do a Google search.

If you bought this music from iTunes you can download it again from within your Purchases in the iTunes App.
Otherwise, razmee is right. you can only sync to one itunes library. If you sync to another one whatever does not exist on the new library will get removed from the phone.
That's is by design to avoid Piracy. As otherwise you could simply transfer purchases to other users.

This did not happen by syncing with iTunes alone. The Camera Roll is not included or touched with the iTunes sync process.
The first time you connect a new iPhone to iTunes that has been used to sync with another iPhone, you are prompted to transfer the backup for the other iPhone to the new iPhone, or set up as a new iPhone or don't transfer the backup for the previous or old iPhone. You chose the former, which replaced the Camera Roll on your new iPhone with the Camera Roll for your previous iPhone. This was followed by a sync with iTunes.
If you didn't import the photos from the Camera Roll on your new iPhone with your computer as with any other digital camera before you chose to transfer the backup for your old or previous iPhone to your new iPhone, the photos that were in the Camera Roll on your new iPhone are gone.

How to activate as a new phone and sync from a 3G

Well my phone has left Anchorage and I am trying to figure out the best way for me to activate it. From my reading it seems there are two options, 1) use a 3G backup, or 2) initialize as a new phone and then sync all of my contacts, calendar, music, apps, etc. I understand how to do the first method has that is what is described in the instructions. I have not been able to find the detailed instructions for the second method. Can someone please post them, or point to a thread describing the process?

Well, I'm not sure of that. After activating my new IP4, I synced my music, apps, etc to the new phone. The programs that contain data appear to have copied all the data to my new IP. Not photos, just data synced with iCloud shown in Settings>iCloud. If you don't have sufficient storage to back up to iCloud, back up to your computer instead using iTunes (connect you phone to your computer, open iTunes, click on the name of your phone in iTunes, go to ths Summary tab of your iTunes sync settings and click Back Up Now). Also transfer your purchases to your iTunes library (connect your phone to your computer, open iTunes and go to File>Devices>Transfer Purchases). If you have photo stream photos older than 30 days tha you wan to save, save these to your camera roll before backing up (tap Select, tap the photos, tap the share icon -- box with upward facing arrow, then tap Save to Camera Roll).
When setting up your new phone, when given the option choose Restore from iTunes Backup and restore the backup you made earlier.
