i got a £15 voucher and put it on. i went to buy some songs on my iphone 5c. it asked me for my seciruity question. i put it what my answers are but it keeps saying it is wrong. i tried over and over again then my apple ID got locked, now i cant buy anything

Yup, I've had the unlimited plan for about 4-5 years, and I do everything I can to keep from losing it, for obvious reasons.
As you advise, I've been using the iphone in airplane mode with wifi activated which works fine when I am in wifi range. But of course when I'm out and about I want to use my data roaming for internet, maps, skype, whatever so I take it out of airplane mode.
The trouble is that I get incoming calls and am charged international rates even when I dont answer. I havent looked lately but I think AT&T charges me for one minute even for unanswered incoming calls.
Any ideas?

Could you not restore the device to an earlier version?
No, you cannot downgrade your iOS device.
That may mean jailbreaking, I'm not sure.
Jailbreaking is not supported by Apple or this forum.
Or what about replacing the motherboard?
There are no user serviceable parts on an iPhone. -

You can't. Sprint phones can be unlocked ONLY for use on non US carriers. They can not be used on any US carrier other than Sprint. If you want to use a different carrier in the US, sell the phone and buy one you can use.

The SIM is in and Sprint gave me the unlock code, but what are the steps to unlock it?There is no such thing as an unlock code. Sprint may have processed the unlock, and then requested you restore the iPhone using iTunes to complete it. But that's it. There is no code to enter, and nowhere to enter it any way.

Trying to update OS on an original iPad. Connected to iTunes -- screen is locked showing iTunes/USB cable icons. iTunes says must restore to default settings, but receive an error message 3014 that this cannot be done. Is there a lock symbol at the top of the screen next to the battery indicator ? If there is, then depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (rotation lock or mute notifications), then you can lock/unlock the rotation by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad, or via the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and it's the icon far left; press home again to exit the taskbar. If there isn't a lock symbol then try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot. -

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just canceling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

Some background:
Back in July '08, my original iPhone died. This occurred 2-3 weeks after the 1 year warranty expired and the Genius at my local Apple Store was kind enough to still replace it with a refurbished one. However, before I met with the Genius, I bought an iPhone 3G (which is what I'm using now).
My question:
The refurbished iPhone came with firmware 1.1.4 and is useless because it keeps showing the 'connect to iTunes' image. How do I unlock it so I can use it as a back-up to my iPhone 3G?
Right now, it's just a paper weight. When I first got it, I was hoping I could connect it to iTunes to unlock it but I stopped it half way through the process because it started to cancel my iPhone 3G data plan (to replace it with the EDGE data plan). In fact, I had to go to an AT&T store to restore the data plan on my 3G.
FYI, I have no desire to jailbreak it or unlock for use with other mobile carriers. I just want to unlock the phone so that I can use it with my current AT&T plan. I also did a quick Google search an all the articles I found were for jailbreaking the iPhone.

Message was edited by: Calvin Koo1Ok, weird. After starting this thread, I plugged my original iPhone into my MBP and iTunes displayed a message saying the firmware was too old to synchronize. It suggested that I upgrade the firmware. Instead of continuing, I chose to eject the iPhone and now it's activated - i.e., I can use the iPhone and access the apps (except for the ones that require a data connection). So, I guess I'm all set.
Hopefully, iTunes didn't screw up the data plan on my 3G (I don't think it did since it didn't show any message of communicating with AT&T's servers). -
