How do i unlock numbers files

All files in Numbers (Apples Excel) are locked. I think it's because of 10.7.
Help

I already saw messages describing this behavior but I am unable to reproduce it.
How were you installing Lion ?
I installed it on a HD which I formatted before the installation, not on one where Snow Leopard was already installed.
It may be a problem when Lion use some properties defined in Snow structures.
Try to change the attributes of the files thru the infos window.

  • How do I unlock numbers files that are in my public shared folder?

    Hello all,
I've been trying to access a file on my wife's shared folder and she's added me to the sharing and permission list on the file and on the server.
Can someone please give me a hint on how to unlock this file so we can use the versions feature of "numbers"?
    Thanks in advance.
    ~madamal

As far as I know, the versions feature is not shared on networks.
    The datas are stored locally.
Assuming that you boot from the HD named "madamal's HD", the versions datas are stored in the folder :
"madamal's HD:.DocumentRevisions-V100", not on the network.
The period at the beginning of the folder's name is used to hide it.
Trying to share an iWork generated document thru a network is playing with matches.
The iWork apps aren't designed for that.
If your wife work on a document when you are also working on it, there is no provision to arbitrate between the changes introduced by the two users. Very efficient way to destroy the document.

  • How to password protect numbers file on iphone?

How to password protect numbers file on iphone?
I've made a password protected numbers file on iMac and saved it to itunes.
When i open this file on my iphone for the first time i have to type in the password. But afterwards it's not protected anymore and i can open the file without the password!
How can i secure my files?

There is at this time no way to put a password in the Numbers app nor on a Numbers spreadsheet, and as Michael said it's not something a third-party developer could add. You can suggest that Apple add a password feature via their feedback pages:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback
or you can look for a third-party spreadsheet app that does allow password-protecting a sheet. Documents To Go from Dataviz is a commonly-recommended app that supports spreadsheets, but I don't know if they support passwording.

    Hi kevinv1987,
It doesn't sound like the PDF was password protected (or Adobe Reader would prompt you for a password). Instead, it sounds like that file may be marked locked by your operating system. Are you on Mac OS or Windows? In either case, here are instructions for removing the lock icon from the file:
Remove the Lock Icon from a Folder in Windows 7 (check Microsoft's website if you have a different version of Windows)
On Mac OS, select the file in the Finder, and choose File > Get Info. Then, just deselect the Lock checkbox.
Please let us know how it goes.
    Best,
    Sara

  • How to save a numbers file to a pdf file of multiple pages instead of one giant long page?

How to save a numbers file to a pdf file of multiple pages instead of one giant long page?

    Hi DW,
    Numbers 3.2.2
Instead of Menu > File > Export To,  use Menu > File > Print...
That takes you to Print Preview.
In the Print Setup panel, Click on the Print... button lower right (it won't print yet).
    That opens the Print Dialogue.
Click on the PDF Pop-Up Menu lower left.
Choose Open PDF in Preview or Save as PDF.
That will have page breaks and will be full sized.
    Print from Preview.
    Regards,
    Ian.

  • How do I unlock all files in site at once

Have a site that someone else worked built. Most of my sites
are GoLive, so easy to figure.
All pages and files are locked. I am only one working on the
site now. Sort of figured out how to unlock a file, but still
confused by the page unlock process and unfamiliar terms.
As a result, I've been unable to save pages. How can I just
unlock everything and been done with it.
    Really stymied. Bad day. :-(
    TIA

    > All pages and files are locked.
try this- right-click on the main site folder in the Files
    Panel.
Is "unlock" or "checkout" a choice?
    repeat for the remote side.

  • How do I transfer Numbers file between my Mac and iPad after buying the app?

I have a few files in Numbers on my Mac that I would like to update on my iPad while on the road.  I bought the app for my iPad and checked the Documents section of iCloud is "On" with both devices.  How do I get the files to appear on my iPad?

Since you have Lion, rather than Mountain Lion, you will have to manually upload your Mac Numbers document to iCould. Log into iCloud with Safari. If you upgrade to Mountain Lion you will be able to select iCloud from Numbers just as if it was another folder on your system.

Mac OS X can't write to NTFS drives by default. Drag them to the internal drive first.

  • How do I unlock a file for viewing by other computers

Please be kind, I'm not a computer whiz!!  I am trying to share a file between computers (both Mac's).  I have gone to the file sharing folder under preferences and checked the boxes I wanted (or thought) would allow me to do this.  I can access the other computer but when I click on the file that I want to look at I get the message "unable to access file because you do not have permission to view".  Well, that stinks.  Is there a way to "unlock" that file for sharing purposes?  I need to put that file on my iPad as well as my new MacBook Pro

Pooper: A .cws file is a ClarisWorks or AppleWorks template: a file that, when you double-click it, causes the parent application (C'Wks or A'Wks) to create a new file that is an exact duplicate of the template file, except that it's unlocked and ready to have text entered into it. The template file is locked, not by using the "locked" checkbox, but by virtue of being a template instead of a document. A template is locked by definition, so you won't change it by mistake, and can use it over and over as the basis for many new documents.
Instead of saving all your documents as templates, save them as documents. In AppleWorks or ClarisWorks, this will result in their having .cwk instead of .cws as a filename extension. The necessary options can be found in the "Save" and/or "Save As..." dialog boxes in Appleworks or ClarisWorks — probably in a pull-down file format menu. I don't use those apps myself, so I'm not certain what those dialog boxes look like in them.
The issue of other people not being able to open the files you email to them is unrelated. Anyone who doesn't have AppleWorks or ClarisWorks will be unable to open files that are written in its native formats. If you trashed your copy of AppleWorks/ClarisWorks, you wouldn't be able to open them yourself. Files that you will want to share with people who don't have A'Wks/C'Wks should be saved in a universal file format such as RTF or plain text.

  • How to save a numbers file on macbook to iCloud?

i have just started using icloud and want to save a numbers file on my macbook pro via icloud so i can use it on my iphone 5 please!!??

While we all have MacBooks in this forum most of us don’t use iCloud. There's an iCloud Support Community where everybody uses iCloud. You should also post this question there to increase your chances of getting an answer. https://discussions.apple.com/community/icloud/icloud_on_my_mac

  • How to merge 2 numbers file???

Is there a way to merge 2 or 3 numbers files into one? I can't find a import into an existing numbers file.
    Thanks for your help!

The first method that comes to mind is to copy all the contents of the sidebar in one file and paste them into the sidebar of the second file.
Select a sheet in the sidebar of file 1.
    Press CMD-a to select all.
    Press CMD-c to copy.
Click in the sidebar of file 2.
    Press CMD-v to paste.
Not as elegant as an import, but since all the sheets can be copied at once, this seems simple enough and works well. Once all the sheets are in a single file, then the tables can be dragged around from sheet-to-sheet as needed.

  • How do I unlock multiple files in multiple folders

I recently got a new Macbook with OSX 10.7, and I moved about 30GB worth of files on to it from a windows NTFS hard drive.
Now all these thousands of files are LOCKED and I can't move them around or delete them. I know how to select 1 file, or even a group of files and unlock them all, but how do I do it when these files are in many - MANY - different folders?
When I unlock a folder, it doesn't unlock all the folders and files under it, just the folder it self.
I know there was a program called Golden Key that use to do it, but it doesn't look like it's out there anymore (all the download links don't work)
I just want to UNLOCK ALL THE FILES ON MY DRIVE -> with one simple command.
Hopefully without going into Terminal (I don't know how to do that)
    THANKS!!

You can also do it through Finder, one folderful at a time.
To do that, open one such folder. Press Command-A (Select All in Edit menu). Press Option-Command-I which will open a multiple-item Get Info window, one window common to all the selected files. Then click the "Locked" checkbox until it is empty. That should unlock all the selected items.

  • Unlocked Numbers file shown as locked on shared account

I am trying to facilitate a shared access to a Numbers spreadsheet for two people to be able to update content. It is unlocked and placed in the Public folder with read & write access for the specific user.
However, in trying to update the file in the shared account, a dialogue box appears AS IF the file were locked, offering the choice to unlock or duplicate.  Selecting unlock does not work, leaving only an option to duplicate.  As mentioned, this file is NOT locked--but Mavericks will not permit editing from the shared account.
    Can anyone suggest a fix?

A Numbers document may contain 255 sheets (or 256 ?).
Each sheet may contain 255 tables (or 256 ?).
A formula in table T1 of sheet S1 may grab an info from table T2 of sheet S2.
The only problem would be the speed.
