I recently bought a MacBook Air from a seller off of rakuten, but when I go to register it under my Apple ID, it says "According to our records, this serial number is registered to another Apple ID. If you have more than one Apple ID, log in to My Support Profile with that Apple ID to see your other registered products. Not sure if you have another Apple ID? Find out." Is there anything else I can do? I do not have the sellers contact information either.

You cannot do this. To unregister someone's computer, you need his/her Apple ID. The only thing you can do is to contact with the seller. If you cannot contact with the seller, you cannot do anything.

Your carrier doesn't have anything to do with this & could care less what phone you use, as long as you pay your bill. So, ignore Radiation Mac's post.
What each of you should have done is synced your phones to create current backups. Then, turn of iMessage, FaceTime & delete the iCloud accounts...Settings>iCloud...scroll down, Delete account. Next: Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content & Settings. Turn the phones off, swap sims, turn the phones back on & restore from the backups you each made when you started. You can then call your carrier to insure they have the correct IMEI number for each account.

The most thorough way to do what you need is to erase the Mac and reinstall its originally installed version of OS X, but assuming you and your spouse are fairly close to one another and merely inconvenienced by getting each other's reminders and so forth (vs. being complete strangers and concerned about the loss of personal information) simply "sign out" of all iCloud services, and sign in again using your own Apple ID.
You may still encounter occasions in which you will need his Apple ID, such as updating software or playing music that he may have purchased using his Apple ID instead of yours.
Go to System Preferences > iCloud, and sign out. Select "Delete from this Mac" when it appears.
Then, sign out of each app that is tied to an Apple ID. For example, in Calendar, go to Preferences > Accounts. Select the account you do not wish to use and then click the [—] (minus) button. If you get an alert that the account is "shared using iCloud", return to System Preferences and de-selct that account.
Then, sign in to iCloud using your own Apple ID.
The brute force method in which you are parting with the Mac to someone outside the family (erasing everything) is probably overkill in your circumstance.

How can I connect an old macbook pro with that does NOT have a Thunderbolt connection to a new 27 inch iMac? I only need to do this for one specific purpose, to be able to see the work I'm doing on the laptop in InDesign on the iMac's larger screen (at a larger size as it were, so I can see a double page spread (or even a whole page would be an improvement) in one go)? I gather it might be possible to get an adaptor but note that Apple don't seem to sell one. I know I could do this with the cinema screen but would rather do it with a new imac as that will have more use to me overall. It's a work laptop which I don't own so I don't own the Indesign to just be able to use that on an iMac. I have tried to connect monitors to the laptop in the past, but with no success at all. Hey All. Well my question is how do you know when your MacBook is infected with a virus? I came off windows and i have norton antivirus so i have something to tell me there. But on the Mac OS you rarely get viruses and i dont have a anitvirus program, so how do you know when you have one? And what does it do?

Since no ones got one that I know of it is hard to say. I figure that when the day comes that someone writes a Mac virus you will know real quick what happens. If your concerned you could use ClamXav. I use it if I download something for my wife's PC but have never found anything yet.

This issue is blocking my access to iTunes and any other file from my home computer. It keeps on telling me that I have to autorise my computer to pass on files, yet, it seems, for all this to happen, I need to get logged in through the phone's Apple ID. This of course is different to my one on my computer - and I have no password for it.
This phone is not stolen!! I payed still a fair bit for it. Am still in contact with the previous owner. He doesn't know how to fix the problem either.

Settings>general>resets>erase all content and settings.
That will put it back to its out of the box state. Set it up with your own apple Id.

It takes an enormous amount of patience and time to get through to a qualified person.
My Samsung S5 was locked out and needed a factory reset. Including attempts to achieve this locally, it took over an hour before my problem was even addressed.
You may be interested in my journey to a very good technical support person.
First I called the local sales person who had given me his personal business card with the friendly advice to call me with any questions. No answer at about 8:30 am when the business was open. His voice mailbox was full.
Then I called the local store where I had purchased the phone. The person who answered the phone had learned all the proper stock phrases, but was not familiar with the issue, stated that there were no customers in the store, and I should go there in about an hour when there would be more staff. He suggested dialing *411 from my phone (which was locked). Then he gave me a number to call Verizon, which he had to look up, and it took a minute or so. The number was (removed). That is an internal number for employees and contractors and requires a code to access, obviously not designed for customers' use. He finally cut me off by stating that there were a number of customers in line waiting for his attention!
After researching all my papers I found 800-922-0204 on my bill. The automated message suggested a hold time of 5 minutes, it took 20 minutes for a Customer Service Representative to pick up, and then I was referred to technical assistance. The hold time was announced to take 5 minutes, after 12 minutes I finally was connected.
Fortunately I had my computer set up for Skype on a loudspeaker, and was able to do some other paperwork while waiting.
Persistence was rewarded by having the good fortune to be connected to a very experienced, qualified and patient technical support staff with the name of Thomas (removed). He solved my problem, answered my questions during the process of resetting the phone, and gave an example of courteous and kind customer service that I had never experienced before when dealing with any major internet company.

When I do the cmd R and go through the process, it begins the restore process for Mountain Lion because I upgraded to Mountain Liion on this machine a few months ago. And it's asking for my Apple ID. If I do that upgrade, the buyer will have a version of Mountain Lion that is associated with my Apple ID and that won't work. Also, isn't there licensing issues in such a case? I want to restore the MacBook Air to its original factory settings when I purchased it in April of 2011. At that time it was Lion and not Mountian Lion. And I don't want any software on this computer to be associated with my Apple ID.
