Which application are you trying to upgrade from the version of 7.0? Is it Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat?
If it is Adobe Reader you can download the latest version of Reader from www.adobe.com.
If it is Adobe Acrobat you can either subscribe the latest version or purchase the application and please see http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat.html?promoid=JOLIR.

Go to the Apple menu and select "About This Mac". You will get a window similar to this one -
You current OS X version number will be shown as I've marked.
OS X 10.4.x is Tiger, 10.5.x is Leopard, 10.6.x is Snow Leopard, 10.7.x is Lion, and 10.8.x is Mountain Lion.
Whether or not you can go to the latest OS X version depends upon your hardware -
You will need to purchase the retail set for the OS X version you want; there is no pint in getting and installing any intermediate versions. Once the retail version has been installed, you can update it to the latest release for that version via download updater.

You can only update iOS 6 on the iPad 2 as that is the version that is 'signed' by Apple.
To update, connect the iPad to your computer's iTunes and copy any purchases off the iPad to your computer via File > Transfer Purchases. You may also want to copy photos and any important documents off the iPad as well e.g. via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc - they should be included in the backup, but it's best to have a copy of them outside of the backup just in case. I think you identified my mistake. I confused tables-charts-graphs. I was wanting a "table" of cells (numbers) to be added to the Pages document. Is there no way to do that and keep the tables linked between Numbers09 and Pages09?
An example would be a Numbers spreadsheet calculating a number (say, a product price) and that number (data) be linked to a product information text in Pages.
I just recently saw the Merge function in Pages, but have not yet learned how that works. I don't use Pages much at all but it would come in handy for creating to information sheets about products --- with the product pricing being updated from a Numbers spreadsheet.
If you have any hints on how that can be done or where I can find info on that I would appreciate it.

The latest version of iPhoto - 9.5.1 - requires MacOS X 10.9.x. Is it possible to upgrade your Mac to Mavericks? Then you can buy the latest iPhoto from the AppStore.
If your Mac does not support Mavericks, you could upgrade to iPhoto 9.4.3, see: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1650 , but this version is no longer availbale from the AppStore. Buy a boxed retail version of iPhoto '11 from Amazon or eBay, and then update it from the support page http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1650 .

If you are using the Metro style browser, please confirm you have allowed updates to the Compatibility View list as follows:
Open IE on the Desktop
From the Tools menu, click Compatibility View settings

If you don't see the Tools menu, press and hold on the title bar, this will show the context menu, check the Menu bar.
