How do I update/edit/change an image map in Fireworks CS4 or CS5?

Hi,
I've created an imagemap in Fw CS4, exported the image + html file, and it works ok.
1. I closed Fireworks, then ran it again and re-opened the exported PNG, and could see the hotspots, and could edit/update/add/remove them.
2. I closed Firewoks again, then moved the exported .png image (the original was a PNG as well) and html file to a different folder.
Problem: When I open the (exported) image, I can no longer edit the hotspots. The image map still works (in a browser), however.
Doesn't the HTML file define the hotspots? How do I update or edit an image map in Fireworks? Do I need to re-import the HTML file somehow? Fw help isn't very helpful on this topic.
I've also found that Fw seems to change the PNG when exporting it. Is it adding some kind of metadata to the exported PNG?
I've made sure the "Show slices and hotspots" button is on. This is really puzzling!

I think I understand what's happened, and yes, I've overwritten my original PNG
sigh. Fireworks doesn't really make this obvious!
That renaming tip is great! We already have a process for making PNGs of marked-up PDFs (so the extension is .pdf.png), so this will fit in just nicely!

In the simple and short form, what happens with the ACR (Adobe Camera RAW) module is that it gets updated with regularity, to accommodate the camera mfgr's. changes for their newer models. That ACR works within the host program, such as Ps, PsElements, Lightroom, etc.. At a point, Adobe ceases to support older host program versions. When that happens, the user has a few options:
Upgrade the host program version
Use another host program, such as PsElements or Lightroom
Use the free DNG converter, per Curt's suggestion. That is not host program dependent

We don't provide the functionality to edit th tesxt of a pdf file Adobe Reader for Mobile. However you can do this using Desktop Acrobat.

How can I turn off the "open in tabs" in Fireworks CS4?

I found out how to do it in Phoroshop CS4 ( preferences> interface, uncheck "open documents in tabs) but I can't find an option to turn off the "open in tabs" for Fireworks. I realize that I can open documents in tabs and then drag them apart, but it would be much preferable to have each document open in it's own window as they have in previous versions of Fireworks. I frequently need to compare documents side by side and tabbing back and forth is doesn't work for me.

Are you on Windows or MacOS X?
For Windows version, not sure this can be done.
On Windows XP, see this example path:
C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\Adobe\Fireworks CS4\English\Fireworks CS4 Preferences.txt
Close Fireworks CS4, then open this file Fireworks CS4 Preferences.txt with Notepad and find key:
<key>OpenNewDocumentAsTabs</key>
<bool>true</bool>
Change the "true" to "false", save the file. Open Fireworks CS4, and see if there's any difference...
On Windows XP, I do not see any difference. But I see that once I have floated one of the files open, all the next files I open, become floated too (not opened as tabs!). So this may help you maybe?
If you are on Mac OS X, search for a similar preferences file for Fireworks CS4 and see if it helps you edit "OpenNewDocumentAsTabs" key from "true" to "false".
Not sure if this helps you much but at least I tried...
If nothing helps, this is my suggestion:
1) Open Fireworks.
2) Open a file, "float" it away from the tabs area and it will be un-docked and then, all other files you open later, will be not opened as tabs...

Image Mapping in PS CS4??

Alright, I'm trying to learn new things, and I'm converting over to designing parts of my web site with Photoshop CS4. Eventually I would like to be able to design a full template and use that as my web page etc, but right now I'm only doing a navbar. Previously, I used ImageReady to make my image maps (only 1 page right now, so I have the navbar pointing to 5 different parts of my page using the href="#<name" link). However, after doing a lot of searching through Google, I have yet to find one guide on how to make image maps with CS4... I've created the entire navbar, along with layers for onMouseOver for each link. Seeing as how I have no ImageReady with CS4, I'm at a loss. I've tried to create a navbar with DreamWeaver CS4, but it just wanted to do buttons and my one attempt at testing DW's navbar with my rollover images was a huge failure.
So could someone, anyone, please please explain how to make image maps from my navbar.psd file? Thank you!! (A few other tuts said to Save As > HTML which is a flop, because I don't have HTML as an option...)

I finally did get my image maps drawn and everything is working fine now... you are right, it is all through Dreamweaver. I ended up starting my first image map with an online website, and once I got the HTML code for the first map, I was able to copy and adapt it for the other 5 area's to map out. Apparently there is a map drawing tool in DW program that I didn't see.

I don't think apple has a way of doing this inside of its standard iwork programs or iLife. I use the free program Gimp, can't afford photoshop. You can load the image, then use the change perspective tool. then save it again.
Making it reflective afterwards may or may not work in keynote or pages. If you save it as a jpg or pdf, it will be saved in skewed form, but on a white background. Unless the programs recognize layers and let you keep a transparent layer in your image file when importing. which I am not positive about how to get to work. Maybe saving it as a Photoshop file. (which you can export from Gimp).
this might be the hard way, but i can't think of how to do it in Pages or keynote, if it is there then I haven't used it yet. Please anyone else confirm or clarify for me if I am wrong,

How do I update label names in images?

Over time, I've changed the way I use the star ratings and the labels.
So, if I have an image with a green label that's named X and I change the green label to be Y, HOW do I get the image to have Y and a green label instead of X and a white label?
I can't find a method in the search that looks at the label text in the image, so how do I find all the images with "X" so I can change them to "Y"?

Internal groans and laughter here! That's exactly WHAT I UNDID!!!!!!!!!! I activated the library filter, and on the "Label" pane, I replaced label with Metadata status (never even LOOKED at the label data) - which didn't work, then opened text and tried putting in the label names, which didn't work, then I did a search through all the menu pulldowns, then an Internet search.... Had I actually LOOKED at the data in "label", I'd have saved myself a lot of fiddling and a bit of embarrassment!
Off to change a LOT of labels!

How do I leave editable text and images in a PDF?

I recently bought a flyer template and it came as an editable PDF. Here is one of the templates http://www.wendygarratt.com/images/flyer.pdf
Every field, both text and graphic object, is fully editable in the free Adobe reader. I have Acrobat X and have tried all the methods of producing something like this but nothing has worked. I wish to produce not just one page template PDFs that can be edited like the one above, but I also have a 20+ page magazine, which currently is distributed in PDF form and I wanted certain image and text fields within the magazine to be customisable too.
I design the magazine using InDesign and the exported pages are composed of 1 large background image with text fields laid over the top. I have tried exporting it as an interactive PDF, ticking the layers option for Acrobat, but when I try to create an editable form (Tools>Forms>Create>Open file) it does not recognise any of the text fields at all.
Can someone please help me before I slam my head repeatedly in a door? I have been searching for a solution for so long and I'm getting rather frustrated.

I know this was designed in LiveCycle and I have LiveCycle and Adobe Acrobat Pro X, but LiveCycle is new to me. I am a quick learner (I use Photoshop, InDesign, etc) and need help in getting started.

How do I update a changed ARD password?

On a headless server I have ARD setup with an account called "ARD User".
However, I had to reset the accounts password manually via SSH. Now I can't get ARD to work. When I attempt to connect it says the authentication failed, but it doesn't give me an option to say "Dear expletive program, I changed the password remotely. Please give me an option to change it here too."
I can get Screen Sharing to work. Or I can get ARD to work for all users. But I can't get it to work for the ARD User account. I obviously don't want to leave the server open to ARD control from every user.
How do I change the ARD credentials to match the new password?

Have you tried removing the system from the computer list and readding it? That should allow you enter in the new account credentials.

How do I swap or change an image?

In Keynote 2, I have created a slide with nine separate images on it (3x3). I now what to go back and swap out or replace these nine images with nine new ones. (Keeping the same box and mask attributes.) I cannot seem to do it. What gives. Please help. Thanks, Jon

You deserve a prize for finding one of the main differences between Keynote and pages, and something I am a little disappointed over because of it's usefulness.
The anwer is... (Phil, Drum roll, please)
(Oooh. the suspense is killing me... I'm having a little trouble here because the envelope is... is... heck, it's empty. Phil... Phil ! PHIL ! okay... you can stop with the drumming.
(ahem)
The answer is (throwing the crumpled up envelope at Phil) you can't.
In Pages they have Photo Placeholders, and in Keynote they don't. End of story. In Keynote they rely on the Photo Cutout to handle the images that are imported. Place your image, resize it, and send it to the back... to the veeerrrrry back, and it will show up in the photo cutout.
One of the reasons may be that in Keynote you don't have to worry so much about printing out the document. Relying on the photo cutout instead of the photo mask also means you can implement a unique and theme-specific frame around your photo, which is cool.
Doing the same in Pages is, well, let's just say it has proven a bit more difficult to implement than I would have liked.
If you are looking for the ease of replacing a masked image, then for now use the old copy-paste principle from pages to Keynote.
And send feedback. And cookies. I hear Apple developers will do anything for cookies. I hear their favorite is chocolate chip. They'll do anything if you dangle one of those outside their cubicles.

HOW do I create a NICE enlarged image in a window EFFECT? CS5

Maybe a long unnecessary title but I'm not sure how to describe it, and I can't find an example at the moment.
Basically, I would like to create little image thumbnails which when clicked on bring up an enlarged version of the thumbnail. Basic I know, but rather than just having it load up in a pop-up window like you can do with behaviors in Dreamweaver, I would like the enlarged image to appear in a window which expands out from a small rectangle/square to a large rectangle/square (kind of like an animation) and THEN the image appears in this lovely display window.
How is that done?
Maybe I haven't explained this very well. In the meantime I will have a look and see if I can find an example to better explain what I mean.

You're looking for a AJAX "Lightbox" style script. These are quite common these days, and started with the original Lightbox JS script. They've since evolved into related projects like Thickbox, FancyBox, Lightbox 2, etc.

The way these work are:
You place a script or two (sometimes your lightbox script and the jQuery JS package) in a folder on your server
You then link these scripts in the head of your document
You add your thumbnails to your page, and link them to the larger images
You then add some type of attribute to each thumbnail, such as a class like "lightbox".
When you click the thumbnail, instead of getting the larger image it triggers the lightbox script. Most all of the scripts have either instructions on setting them up, or a demo where you can view the source code. What I used to do is download the script, which almost always has a demo file in the download package, and open that up in Dreamwevaer to reverse engineer. It's not as complicated as it first looks.

How to update the change log table?

I am doing some manipulation on the ODS records and writing few new records directly into the active table of my ODS. how do i update the change log table so that i can do a delta from my ODS to further data targets??
i see the fields REQUEST, DATAPAKID, PARTNO and RECORD in the change log table. what values should these fields have for my new records??

Hi,
Please try this option. In stead of writing directly into DSO, do it in another Custom Z DSO. From there, do the FULL load to your previous DSO. This will ensure that the data consistence through the system. Also, do not forget to delete the data from Custom Z DSO once you successfully loaded the data.

Jobs related issue (how table BDCP updated)

job xxxxx is running in R/3 which update other system (3plp).
The main concept is that. Whatever changes taken place in master
Data this change is passes through Idoc to other system.
My issue is related to customer master data. Job is including those
customer( 321304) which have not been change. I can see this customer
number in job spool. But when I see changes in customer master (321304)
there is no change on that date. So this behavior is wrong.
Job must include those customers who are changed on that date.
Jobs is running fine for more customer but, not working fine for few customer

the program it calls the standard Function Module CHANGE_POINTERS_READ. The function module outputs the customer 321304 and change pointer number 198919387. But when I checked this customer, it hasnu2019t been changed since 2007.
Then I checked table BDCP (for change pointers) and got this:

Kindly check this to find how BDCP gets updated.
Change pointers are R/3 objects that mark changes to SAP master data. Change pointers are managed by mechanisms in a Shared Master Data (SMD) tool and are based on Change Document (CD) objects. CD objects record the changes occurring to master data at a field level. These changes are stored in tables CDHDR (header table) and CDPOS (detail table). ALE configuration provides a link between CD objects and change pointers. Internal mechanisms update tables BDCP and BDCPS, which host the change pointers. While CD objects are application-data-specific, the processing status of change pointers is message-type-specific. Also, the ALE change pointers are activated first at a general level and then at the message-type level.
Change pointers are log entries to table BDCP which are written every time a transaction modifies certain fields.
Dont forget to reward points if found useful.
