How do I update individual apps on iTunes?

I have a couple apps with large updates that I need to do from iTunes. However, I have another app that I do NOT want to update. The only button I see says the total number of updates available. If I click that, will it give me the option to do the updates individually, or will it automatically start downloading all of them? Thanks for your help!

hi.  I don't mean to be dense, but I am having a similar issue.
I haven't used itunes (on my computer) in a year because of calendar synching problems.  so I went on today and was surprised by the new version.  been slogging my way around with online tutorials and etc.
I too, cannot figure out how to update my apps (alot of which are too big to do on my iphone).  when I log in to itunes I do not see an "update" option anywhere.  or even an "apps" option, unless I hook in my iphone.  is there a way, once I plug in my iphone and go to APPS, to update my apps from that screen?
I do not see CHECK FOR UPDATES anywhere... there used to be a button on the bottom right that told you how many updates you had and allowed you to select UPDATE.  I feel foolish for writing in, cause I must be missing something very basic.  but I appreciate any help you can give.
thanks!

  • How can I update my apps in iTunes 11.0.1

    I downloaded the new version of iTunes (11.0.1) and it looks like there is no way to update the apps in iTunes.  This is much faster and easier than having to do it on my phone.
    who has an answer?

    Then to solve the problem create a new user account so your wife will have a separate account on the computer. She also needs to get her own Apple ID.
    Now she can have her own separate library. Reconfigure her phone from her new user account including changing the Apple ID and other information on her phone so it will all be tied to her iTunes Library.
    It is possible to share music across the two different accounts:
    iTunes- How to share music and video
    A different approach is outlined below:
    Sharing Stuff From Different iTunes Accounts (or Computers)
    Here's how to do so using different computers:
    Transfer what content you want to the separate iTunes library on each computer. To transfer content from your library to another library do the following. We'll assume this is between husband and wife separate accounts and different Apple IDs.
    Launch iTunes under your wife's login;
    Sign her out of iTunes, then you sign in;
    Select iTunes -> Preferences -> Devices -> Disable auto-sync when an iPod/iPhone is connected;
    Connect your phone, DO NOT SYNC;
    Select Store -> Authorize this Computer (only have to do this once);
    Select File -> Transfer Purchases (all of the purchased content on your phone will be transferred to your wife's library);
    When complete eject your phone, sign out of iTunes, sign your wife back in.
    You can now sync whatever content you want to your wife's phone. Just remember all updates to apps obtained using your account must be done while signed in using your account: sign wife out, you sign in, update apps, you sign out, sign wife in, sync her phone.
    This way you can share content (permitted under the EUSLA) and still maintain your separate logins. Do the same on your computer if you want to share content from your wife's library.
    Just load whatever content you want to share on each others phones, transfer the content, then delete it from the respective phone if you don't want to keep it there.

    You can also share music libraries using Home Sharing. This way she can pick out of your old shared library what she wants, then you can remove them from your library.

  • How can I update my app on  itunes 10.3 3

    I just updated my itunes to the latest version, and I also want to update my apps, but I don't know how to do it in the new itunes..

    Do you mean iTunes 11 ? If you do then you can get the left-hand sidebar that used to appear on previous versions of iTunes to show via View > Show Sidebar (option-command-S on a Mac, control-S on windows) - that might make it easier to navigate (it does for me anyway).

  • Okay...how do I update my apps on Itunes

    I did not see an "Update Apps" in the App store

    From the iPad User Manual (assuming you are running iOS 6.1.2 - the current version):
    Download updated apps: Tap Updates. Tap an app to read about the new version, then tap Update to download it. Or tap Update All to download all the apps in the list.

    I changed my Apple ID on iTunes and on the iPhone 4. When I try to "Update All" the old Apple ID shows up (I no longer have access to that email address). How do I update those apps?

    Apps are DRM protected and tied to the account used to originally obtain them. They cannot be transferred to another iTunes account nor updated using another iTunes account. Only the account used to obtain them can be used to update them. You can contact iTunes support, explain the situation & ask that they add these apps to the download queue of your new account:

    How do I update my apps via App Store on iTunes 11? I can't see the "update" button. Thank you.

    You can download updates to your computer's iTunes via the Check For Updates button at the bottom of the Apps section of your iTunes library. When they've been downloaded, and if you haven't already done so, connect the iPad to your computer and select it on the left-hand side of iTunes (if you don't have the left-hand sidebar showing then you can enable it via option-command-S on a Mac, control-S on a PC), and on the Apps tab on the right-hand side clicking the Sync button at the bottom of it should install the relevant updates.

    If you update via Settings>General>Software Update noting is lost unless there is a glitch. Thus make sure you backup your iPod to both iCloud and iTunes.
    iOS: How to back up
    If you update (or restore from iTunes backup) via iTunes all the apps have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup.

    How can I update my apps on the new itunes?  On the previuos itunes i was able to update them won the computer the sync my phone - i can not locate the update notifacation area on this new itunes program

    With iTunes 11 you can enable the left-hand sidebar via option-command-S on a Mac, control-S on a PC. You should then be able to sleect the Apps section of your library on that left-hand sidebar, click the 'Check For Updates' button at the bottom of it and download any available updates. Then connect your phone and select it on the sidebar, select its Apps tab on the right-hand side of iTunes, and click the Sync button at the bottom of it - that should copy any app updates over to it

    If your actually wanting to update your iPhone to IOS  6 and you don't have enough memory available, you still need to the action Chrisfromgastonia recommended.  You will find that Movies and TV Shows being moved to your itunes will free up the largest amount of space.  If IOS 6 is your objective, you may be able to re-download the Movies / Videos after the update.

    Select Apps in iTunes sidebar. A list of all your apps should be displayed in the main window. At bottom right of the window is a Check for updates button. Click on it, then click to download the updated apps. It's also possible that iTunes checked for updatedin the background, in which case the check button will already display how many updates you have.

    I am unable to update my App  store Updations. the reason being billing problem asking to update payment method.Many a  times i updated my credit card details but refusing from the system .how can i update my app store updations like  Face book etc....Using ! phone 6plus  .IOS8.3

    What do you mean by 'refusing from the system', if you are getting an error message then what does it say ?
    For a credit card to have a chance of being accepted it needs to be registered to the same name and address (including format and spacing etc) that you have on your iTunes account, and have been issued by a bank in the country where you and your iTunes account are. If it is and if you are getting a 'declined' message then you could check with the card issuer to see if it's them that are declining it, and if not then try contacting iTunes Support (these are user-to-user forums) and see if they know why it's being declined : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption
    If when trying to download you are getting a message about a 'problem with a previous purchase' then that implies that iTunes wasn't able to collect the money for your last purchase. If that is the case then you won't be able to download anything else (including app updates) until you've paid off what you owe : Pay an unpaid balance in the iTunes Store - Apple Support
    If you aren't getting the 'problem with a previous purchase' message then try logging into your account (not when trying to download something) and see if you get the 'none' option so that you can remove the card's details and be able to download updates to your apps : Change or remove your payment information from your iTunes Store account (Apple ID) - Apple Support
