How do I update itunes on my old Mac so I can get songs onto my new iphone?
My Mac (G4 OSX) is too old to update to the appropriate itunes so that I can drag songs from my itunes to my iphone4. Is there a fix or trick for that, anyone? Thank you, thank you in advance. :-) And would I have the same problem using icloud?

If I caddy up the old drive to the new machine and boot to it then de-authorise there will that work
you need to launch iTunes on the dead Mac in order to de-authorize that computer. if that is not possible, you need to wait until you reach the "5" authorizations. then you get the option to +de-authorize all+ (once a year).

If I subscribe to iTunes Match, can I download onto my new iPhone 6, just my music playlists and not my entire library? I have over 100 playlists and even more music not in playlists and I don't want to download all of it to my phone.

So, before you sell your Mac make sure all your personal data is backed up to an external HDD then put that HDD in a safe place. When you return you will be able to use it to restore your data to the new Mac.

Let's try a repair install of iTunes first.

With an iOS device, the “Other” space in iTunes is used to store things like documents, settings, caches, and a few other important items. How do I deauthorize iTunes on my old Mac?

My trusty old Macbook became my dead old Macbook recently. I recovered the hard drive and caddied it up to the spacestaion that is my new iMac and used data migration assistant to pull everything across. I authorised my new imac on itunes but have now realised I have a dead computer taking up one of my 5 accounts.
Is There some way to de-authorise it without... well, it?
If I caddy up the old drive to the new machine and boot to it then de-authorise there will that work to remove the old machine or just delete the new one again?

I connected my ipad to update the ios so I could sync my new iphone. I got a message my ipad needed to be restored back to the factory setting and then I got a message saying it could NOT be restored. Any suggestions?

Connect your iPod to your computer. Launch iTunes.
From the iTunes menu bar click File / Transfer Purchase From...
When that's finished, connect the iPhone to your computer.
Select the iPhone under Devices left side of the iTunes window in the source list.
Select the Music tab from the menu.
Select the Sync Music button then click the Sync button bottom right side of the iTunes window. -
