How do I update mi osx 10.5.8 to sync my iPhone 5

I need to update my OSx to sync my iPhone 5

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
As you have a MacBook, you can use Snow Leopard > http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
Then, after buying Snow Leopard, make a backup of your files on an external drive. After that, insert the DVD and upgrade Mac OS X. This process may take a bit less than an hour.
After upgrading, you will have Mac OS X 10.6.3, so open  > Software Update to install Mac OS X 10.6.8. You may need to run Software Update again to install iTunes 11.0.1, so you will be able to sync the iPhone

How can i update my osx software from my emac from osx 10.3 to the highest available software for an emac?
I have osx 10.3.x and i want to update to the highest possible. Please help!!!!! i cant find the download. And i dont want to lose any data!!

Depending upon the specific model you have you can upgrade to either 10.4.x or 10.5.x. Neither are available from Apple any longer, so you will need to look to eBay or Amazon for copies. Be sure to only purchase retail copies and not gray labled machine-specific copies.
If your eMac came with 10.3 originally and has a clock speed of 1 GHz or higher, then you can install Leopard, 10.5.x.
If you don't want to lose data then make backups.

  • HT1338 how do I update from OSX 10.5.8 to current OSX

How do I update from OSX 10.5.8 to the current OSX on my MacBook.  I'm having all kinds of issues becuase I can't update to the newest iTunes and my iPhone4s apps stopped downloading and all the message boards are telllinging me I need to use iExplorer which I don't have because I have an older OS.

Start by checking if you can run Snow Leopard:
Requirements for OS X 10.6 'Snow Leopard'
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
Whilst Apple have withdrawn Snow Leopard from their stores, you can still get it from Apple by calling 1-800-MY-APPLE (if you are in the USA) and they will supply the SL DVD for $20 for a single user, or $30 for a family pack that covers up to 5 Macs.  You can also purchase the code to use to download Lion from the same number (Lion requires an Intel-based Mac with a Core 2 Duo, i3, i5, i7 or Xeon processor and 2GB of RAM, running the latest version of Snow Leopard), or you can purchase Mountain Lion from the App Store - if you can run that:
    http://www.apple.com/osx/specs/
If you are outside the US call your national Apple Helpline:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57
If you're in the UK, use this number: 0871 508 4400
When you have installed it, run Software Update to download and install the latest updates for Snow Leopard.
To use iCloud you have to upgrade all the way to Mountain Lion:

    Hello,
Only option is upgrading your Mac's OSX, since Apple will not allow iOS to go backwards.
    Snow Leopard/10.6.x Requirements...
    General requirements
       * Mac computer with an Intel processor
        * 1GB of memory (I say 4GB at least, more if you can afford it)
        * 5GB of available disk space (I say 30GB at least)
        * DVD drive for installation
        * Some features require a compatible Internet service provider; fees may apply.
        * Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and terms apply.
Which apps work with Mac OS X 10.6?...

  • How do I update my contacts on my MacBook pro from my iPhone or iMac?

my contacts on my MacBook pro are out of date. How do I update them from my iPhone or Imac?

    Hey there dgt11,
It seems like you may have missed that section of the article I provided, so I will go ahead and highlight it for you:
    OS X Lion or later
You can use these steps with Contacts on OS X Mountain Lion or later or Address Book on OS X Lion. After each step, check to see if the issue still exists.
Make sure iCloud Contacts is on
Choose Apple () > System Preferences, click iCloud, and select Contacts.
See which version of OS X you're using
Make sure that you're using OS X Lion v10.7.5 or later. Learn how to see which version of OS X you're using.
    Check your Internet connection
Try to go to www.apple.com. If you can't connect to the Internet, your iCloud contacts won't update in Contacts or Address Book. Get help with your Internet connection.
Open a secure website to see if you can access ports 80 and 443. Safari requires access to port 443 to push and fetch updates to and from the iCloud Contacts servers.
    Check your account details
Choose Apple () > System Preferences, and click iCloud. Make sure that you're signed in to the same iCloud account that you're using on your other supported devices.
    Refresh Contacts or Address Book
If recent changes don't appear in Contacts or Address Book, try to refresh by quitting and reopening the app.
    Check your settings
Make sure that the contacts are syncing through iCloud and not through a third-party, such as Google or Yahoo. iCloud won't sync contacts that are associated with a different service.
Open Contacts (or Address Book on OS X Lion).
Click All [iCloud Account Name] in the left sidebar.
Search for the contact that wasn't syncing properly.
If the contact isn't visible, then the contact exists in a third-party account, not iCloud.
You can import the contact from a third-party account into iCloud.
If recent changes to contacts on OS X don't appear on your other devices and you're syncing contacts with multiple accounts on your device (iCloud, Gmail, Yahoo), make sure that iCloud is your default account for Contacts:
Open Contacts (or Address Book on OS X Lion).
Choose Contacts > Preferences (or Address Book > Preferences on OS X Lion).
On the General tab, make sure that your iCloud account is the default.
After setting up iCloud Contacts, you might need to quit and reopen Contacts or Address Book on your Mac. Then make sure that you set up your account correctly in Contacts or Address Book:
Open Contacts (or Address Book on OS X Lion).
Choose Contacts > Preferences (or Address Book > Preferences on OS X Lion).
    Click Accounts.
Make sure that your iCloud account has the correct name in the Apple ID field.
Turn iCloud Contacts off and back on
Quit Contacts (or Address Book on OS X Lion).
Choose Apple () > System Preferences and click iCloud.
    Deselect Contacts.
    Click Keep Contacts.
Close System Preferences and wait about a minute.
Open System Preferences and choose iCloud.
    Select Contacts.
    Open Contacts (or Address Book).
    Restart your computer
Restart your computer and check the issue.

  • How do I update my status only via iOS for Facebook on iPhone 5?

I have iPhone 5s. I have account info to  my Facebook app. I know I can update my status "via iOS" with a picture.
    My question is:
How can I update my status ONLY "via iOS" without having to upload a picture.
When I had my iPhone 4s I used to do it sliding down my notification bar up top. Is there a a way to get that feature again? Or is there specific steps I have to do to get that feature again?

When I'm on my own page there is a selection to Write Post near the top. When I'm on my newsfeed there is an Update Status section in the upper left corner.

  • How do I update my OsX 10.6.8 to the most recent software?

I am way behind on updating my software.  I have a Macbook that I bouth in 2007.  I just upgraded to Snow Leopard.  I am assuming I need to download Lion and then Mountain Lion?  Will it work on my older Macbook?

Lion is still available from Apple. You will have to call Apple Customer Care 1-800-692-7753 or 1-800-676-2775. to purchase it. Then within 3 days you will get an email with a code which you can use to download Lion from the App Store.  The price is $19.99.
You must have at least a Late 2006 model 2,1 MacBook. Lion will require at least 2gb of RAM but really needs 4gb to run smoothly.
As for third party programs see this list for compatibility with 10.7 http://roaringapps.com/apps:table
Also Lion doesn't run any Power PC programs. To see if you have any Power PC programs go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When System Profiler comes up select Applications under Software. Then look under Kind to see if any of your applications are listed as Power PC. Universal and Intel will run under Lion.
Before Mac switched to Intel processors in 2006 they used Power PC processors from 1994 to 2005. Power PC 601 through 604, G3, G4 and G5. Applications written for the Power PC processors need the application called Rosetta to run on Intel processors. This was part of the Operating System in 10.4 and 10.5 but was an optional install in 10.6. With 10.7 Lion Apple dropped all support for Power PC applications.

  • HT1766 how do i update calendar on my imac from calendar on my iphone?

my calendar on the imac needs updating to calendar on my iphone, how?

    Firefox   Link to download.
The only way you can upgrade Safari is to upgrade your operating system. The current version of Safari is 8.0.4 which requires Yosemite. If you want to consider upgrading, check that your computer is compatible with Mountain Lion/Mavericks/Yosemite.
To check the model number hold down the option/alt key, go to the Apple menu and select System Information.
iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) model number 7,1 or higher
    Your Mac needs:
OS X v10.6.8 or OS X Lion already installed
2 GB or more of memory (More is better - 4 GB minimum seems to be the consensus)
8 GB or more of available space
Check to make sure your applications are compatible. PowerPC applications are no longer supported after 10.6.
    Application Compatibility
    Applications Compatibility (2)
    Do a backup before installing.
One option is to create a new partition (~30- 50 GB), install the new OS, and ‘test drive’ it. If you like/don’t like it it, you can then remove the partition. Do a backup before you do anything. By doing this, if you don’t like it you won’t have to go though the revert process.

  • How do I update the Firefox preferences that are being synced?

I have Firefox sync set up with Firefox running on three separate computers. In general syncing is working OK. I am also using the NoScript add-on and syncinc preferences. The problem I am running into is that if I add a web site to the NoScript whitelist, the next time sync updates I lose that entry from the NoScript whitelist.
What I am trying to figure out is how to push the current settings to the sync server.
Also it would be nice if there was any documentation on how sync worked.

This really isn't a NoScript problem. If I turn off syncing of preferences everthing works as I expect it to. The problem is that when the preferences get synced, my most recent changes get blown away.
For example, if I go to the support.mozilla.com website for the first time, I have to allow mozilla.com. Ideally, that preference change would get pushed back to the server and eventually out to my browsers on other machines. What typically happens is that when I go back to support.mozilla.com I have to re-allow mozilla.com.
