You can only update it to iOS 5.1.1, that is the only version that is 'signed' by Apple for it.
Connect the iPad to your computer's iTunes and copy any purchases off the iPad to your computer via File > Transfer Purchases (File > Devices > Transfer Purchases on iTunes 11). You may also want to copy photos and any important documents off the iPad as well e.g. via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc - they should be included in the backup, but it's best to have a copy of them outside of the backup just in case. You can then force a backup of the iPad by right-clicking the iPad 'Device' on the left-hand side of iTunes and selecting 'Backup'.
Then start the update by selecting the iPad on the left-hand side of iTunes (on iTunes 11 you can enable the left-hand sidebar via option-command-S on a Mac, control-S on a PC), and on the Summary tab on the right-hand side clicking the Check For Updates button

My "main" comp, the comp I have used for sync's, backups, etc. was destroyed in Afghanistan. This will not, however, avoid wiping any non-purchased media from your phone (ripped CDs, etc.) as this is only synced one way: from your computer to your phone. You will have to either rebuild your iTunes library with this content and sync again to restore it to your phone, or purchase 3rd party software to copy it from your phone to iTunes prior to syncing (such as Touch Copy).

A cd is tucked into the player and there is no thing on desktop to get it out. Its running all the time but das not show a thing. No label is as usuly on desktop and computer das not shutting down.

You could try these suggestions.
If your iMac will not shutdown normally, force a shutdown by pressing and holding the power button for a few seconds. Follow Step 3 above when restarting if you have not managed to eject the disc.

An iPhone 4S can only be updated directly to iOS 8.1.2. You need to resolve the issue which prevents you from updating to it instead of attempting to install an intermediate version.
