How do i update safari msn browser

when i load safari i get http://www.msn.com/en-gb/ an old browser. any hints for step-by-step udating to a better safari/msn browser

Check that your computer is compatible with Mountain Lion/Mavericks.
To check the model number hold down the option/alt key, go to the Apple menu and select System Information.
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) model number 2,1 or higher
Your Mac needs:
OS X v10.6.8 or OS X Lion already installed
2 GB or more of memory (More is better - 4 GB minimum seems to be the consensus)
8 GB or more of available space
Check to make sure your applications are compatible. PowerPC applications are no longer supported after 10.6.

You need to upgrade the computer's OS or switch to a product such as Firefox.
To upgrade, open the Mac App Store and try downloading Yosemite. If you get told it's incompatible, choose About this Mac from the Apple menu, check if the computer has at least a Xeon or Core 2 Duo(not Core Duo) CPU and 2GB of RAM, and if it does, click here and order a download code for Lion 10.7.
Back up your data and check your applications for compatibility before upgrading. In particular, Mac OS X 10.7 and newer don't support PowerPC programs such as versions of Microsoft Office prior to 2008.

  • I have osx 10.6.8 and safari 5.1.10, how do I update safari?

I been using MSN.com as my homepage for some time.  Suddenly I cannot access it using the Safari browser on my iMac.  Instead I get an MSN "preview" page with a message that I am using an outdated browser.  My browser is Safari 5.1.10.  I opened the Apple Menu and chose Software Updates, but it does not provide a Safari update.  How do I update Safari and what version should I use for OSX 10.6.8?

Safari is now a part of OS X and there are different versions (5, 6 and 7) of it.
To update Safari you must update OS X.

How can I update Safari without updating the OS? I presently have 10.7.5 and 1.6.1
I am getting too many notices that my browser is out of date...

PS, a note to Apple. You use terms like Mountain Lion,  Yosemite, etc. But in other places you use
10.6, 11.7, etc. Could you be consistent? use one or the other, not both. Please. Or always use both together.

Shoot Apple, you don't make things easy. I don't want to upgrade OS as you now require an itunes account to get upgrades, and I'm against that. (until I have to).
So I switched to the chrome browser, that works.
PS, Ralph, yes, I can lookup the version numbers, but I have not felt the need to memorize them. My question is why does apple make it so difficult that we have to memorize the version number to name correspondence?

  • I cannot update Safari.  I am running Lion and am stuck on Safari 4.0.4  Running Update Software is useless as it ignores my old Safari software.  How do I update Safari manually?

I cannot update Safari!  My iMac is running Lion.  I try using Software Update but it tells me everything is okay.  My current version of Safari is 4.0.4  Very out of date.  My problem seems to be only with Safari.  Can anyone tell me how to manually update Safari?

Is your Safari app located (free-standing) in your Applications folder?

Updates should be available through Software Update or the App Store.
The latest version for Leopard :  Safari 5.0.6 for Leopard
Snow Leopard : Safari 5.1.10 for Snow Leopard
Lion & later : How to install Safari

If you want a later Safari than that available for your OS X version, you'll need to upgrade the OS.

  • How do I update my web browser on my Tungsten C

How do I update my web browser on my tungsten C? (What update to I use and where do I get it?) Images are not displayed properly on web pages and no popups are allowed. I am using the Vista palm 6.2 OS because I use Docs to Go. Chat support is no longer available for my device.

I still feel I can succeed with opera mini somehow--if someone can please instruct me on installing it. I renamed the .jar file to .zip extension and extracted it. I got about 9 or 13 files (sorry I'm not sure) with the extraction and a manifest file folder. I tried to hotsync the files to the card but it failed because the palm desktop 6.2 said there was no application to read the files on the Tungsten C. What do I do with the manifest file folder (that was not in the hotsync list)?
Do I have to use the .jad file and if I do, please explain how to use it or install it. Does the .jad file install on the computer or the handheld? Can you sense my intuition at play here (baffled). As I remember, when I tried to hotsync the .jad and .jar files to the handheld's card, it failed. I must have done something wrong and I don't know what that is. Also I established a connection to the internet with the built in browser and went to the address m.opera.com but I got a message that the file type was not supported and I couldn't install it that way. Can you clear up my mind Wyrenut? I'm a schizophrenic, so we have a connection to your username.

How do I update Safari for OS X 10.6.8?

What has Safari got to do with syncing iOS7?  http://www.apple.com/iphone-5s/specs/ says:
Syncing with iTunes on a Mac or PC requires:
Mac: OS X v10.6.8 or later
PC: Windows 8; Windows 7; Windows Vista; or Windows XP Home or Professional with Service Pack 3 or later
iTunes 11.1 or later (free download from www.itunes.com/download)
(iTunes 11 runs on Snow Leopard).
And https://maps.google.com runs fine on Snow Leopard.

Backup your system/data then start up holding down Command + R and select to reinstall your OS X. You have not mentioned which OS X you are using. If you have somehow deleted the Safari App for some reason, you need to reinstall the OS X to reinstall Safari properly. You should not lose any data, but if you do, then that is what the backup is for.

  • How do I update Safari without new OSX?

I have a 1 GB Intel core 2 running Safari 5.0.6 It no works on all sites. How can I update Safari without installing a new OS? My OS is 10.5.8

Where do I get new OSX??
    You start here:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
That disk updates your computer to OS10.6 but also give you the Mac App Store application, the mechanism for all current and future upgrades.
However, newer Mac OS versions may need more RAM than you computer shipped with to run acceptably. Yours probably shipped with 2GB; the current Mac OS--10.10 Yosemite--is hard to run on less than 4GB. You model's RAM can be upgraded to 4GB officially but, with a newer, larger (and more expensive) special module, you can increase it to 6GB.

  • How do I update Safari from 1.3.2 to most current version?

I'm using OSX 10.3.9. I'm told I should update Safari from its current 1.3.2 (v312.6). I've updated software from Software Update successfully in the past, but a Safari update has never appeared in the Software Update dropdown menu. I downloaded Safari304BetaSecUpdateSetup.exe, but when I double click on the icon on the desktop, I get a message saying, "There is no default application specified to open the document Safari304BetaSecUpdateSetup.exe." So, how do I update Safari?
    Thanks.

You are running the final version of Safari for panther 10.3.9.
If you want the latest safari 3.0.4 you will have to purchase Tiger and upgrade to at least 10.4.10. It will NOT run on the old panther.

  • How do I update Safari?  I'm currently running version 5.0.6

How do I update Safari?  I'm currently running version 5.0.6

You need to upgrade the OS. Choose About this Mac from the Apple menu and check the processor.
If it's a PowerPC Mac, it's already running the newest OS it can.
If it's a Core Duo Mac, click here, install the DVD, and run Software Update.
If it's a Core 2 Duo or better Mac, upgrade it as if it was a Core Duo Mac, and once done, if desired, open the Mac App Store and try downloading Yosemite. If you get told it's incompatible, go to the online Apple Store and order a download code for Lion 10.7.
Mac OS X 10.7 and newer don't support PowerPC software such as Microsoft Office 2004. If you upgrade the OS, back up the computer first.
