How do i update & test import maps and syndication maps?

HI,
Can anyone guide me/ let me know the steps - how do i update & test import maps & syndication maps during upgrade in development system>
Regards,
Harmony

Hello Harmony
Different service packs SAP MDM 7.1 supprot the same Syndication and Import map format.
For Import map is updating you can use Import manager
For syndication map is updating - Syndicator
If your syndication and import map have been saved into repository just archive repository from your source landscape and unarchive it in destination.
If your syndication and import map haven't been saved  in repository.
Exporting your maps to xml(syndication maps from syndicator and import maps from Import Manager) before migration and importing it to new repository.
According updating(modification) repository structure:
For Import map is updating you can use Import manager
For syndication map is updating - Syndicator
Another way(very exotic) - make changes in exported xml maps.
That's all

  • Import and Syndication maps - change in XSD

    HI All,
    Can any one let me know are these are correct if it is then are there any work around solutions?
    We created manually Import and syndication maps.. fine..After few days we changed data type/deleted the filed/added new fields.... In all these above incidents do we need to recreate import and syndication maps????
    There is no other work around for this ??
    2) Even if there is no change in Repository structure but change in import or syndication XSD do we need to recreate all import and syndication maps???
    Your inputs are really helpful.
    Thanks
    Rajeev

    HI Rajeev,
    So for any change in the MDM repository Import maps and syndication maps are not needed to recreate from scrach right?
    For minor changes like field add there is no need.For changes involving deletion of mapped fields,changing types of already mapped fields,deleting mapped tables,one should first unmap the current map and then carry out structural changes.Later one can remap them again,this is to avoid maps from getting corrupt.
    If there is any change in the XSD then there is a possibility to recreate the map from scrach??
    Yes
    Do Update XML schema option avaliable only in MDM 7.1?? not in 5.5?
    Yes
    A good description and usage is given by Aamir here Update of XML syndication map when XSD is changed
    One more thing want to clear : I created a scheme and assigned the XSD.. Now when I created the port I am unable to assing the schema like I do for import map??? then what is the use of XSD schema for outbbound??
    Seems you are not using in the way it is supposed to.the exact usage and defining what feature is available with which port is mentioned in pg no 356 of Console guide.
    What is the usual method of import XSD and Outbound XSD?? Do Source and Target systems provide XSDs to MDM or MDM provides to Source and Target Systems?
    For Standard contents SAP provides ready made xsds.
    It is important to note that xsds are only to make MDM and other system understand the xml so they should be same.
    To do this you can use Altova tool to create xsds based on your xml,also PI can help you do the same.
    You can create xsd with PI for other idoc type too.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks,
    Ravi

    1. Choose About this Mac from the Apple menu to check the installed version.
    2. Incremental updates are available in the Software Update pane of System Preferences or the Mac App Store's Updates tab. The source for full version upgrades varies; 10.6 through 10.8 are in the online Apple Store, and 10.9 is in the Mac App Store.

  • Ovi maps and Nokia Maps

    I have recently downloaded the ovi maps update for free navigation on my 5800 however now I seem to have 2 programs in my installed apps menu, Ovi maps and Nokia maps. This is causing me some problems as my phones built in memory is now completely full and I am unable to do some things as I have ran out of on phone memory space. Which one is the main map software? And also can I uninstall one? If not then can it be installed on a MSD card and if yes how?

    As far as I can determine Ovi maps is the mapping software (program) which installs to C (phone memory) and Nokia maps is the map data that you have loaded which I believe are installed to E (mass memory).
    I can confirm that you do need both installed.
    The problem as far as I can see is that the previous maps versions 3.01 is built into the current firmware (v20 for N97 - not sure for 5800) and installing maps 3.03 does not remove or overwrite the earlier version so you end up with both versions installed and thus the extra memory footprint.
    This will remain a problem until a newer firmware is released which will hopefully have maps 3.03 (or later depending when next firmware is released) thus reducing the extra 9 megs or so used.
    Hope this answers your question

  • Hi , friends pls explain abap mapping and message mapping

    1) pls explain abap mapping and message mapping
       send me screen shorts also.

    Hi
    Mapping Techniques
    XI provides 3 standard ways of interface mapping between source and target.
    Graphical mapping
    Java Mapping
    XSLT Mapping
    Two more additional mapping types can be activated in XI by making changes to the exchange profile. Those two mappings are
    ABAP mapping
    XSLT mapping with ABAP Extensions
    Graphical Mapping
    Graphical mapping is a common approach followed by everyone for generating desired target structure. It involves simple drag-n-drop to correlate respective nodes (fields) from source and target structure. It hardly involves coding. (Exception - User defined functions). But sometimes with graphical mapping it is difficult to produce required output. For example ... text/html output, namespace change, sorting or grouping of records etc.
    ABAP Mapping
    A person comfortable with Object Oriented ABAP can go for ABAP mapping instead.
    Java Mapping
    Java Mapping uses 2 types of parsers. DOM and SAX. DOM is easier to use with lots of classes to help you create nodes and elements, but , DOM is very processor intensive.
    SAX parser is something that parses your XML one after the other, and so is not processor intensive. But, it is not exaclty easy to develop either.
    XSLT Mapping
    One can also think of Java mapping as another option but it is a bit complex and required knowledge of Java. In such cases, XSLT mapping can be the best approach to meet the requirements.
    A few example cases in which an XSLT mapping can be used:-
    When the required output is other than XML like Text, Html or XHTML (html displayed as XML)
    When default namespace coming from graphical mapping is not required or is to be changed as per requirements.
    When data is to be filtered based on certain fields (considering File as source)
    When data is to be sorted based on certain field (considering File as source)
    When data is to be grouped based on certain field (considering File as source)\
    Advantages of using XSLT mapping
    XSLT program itself defines its own target structure.
    XSLT programs can be imported into SAP XI. Message mapping step can be avoided. One can directly go for interface mapping once message interfaces are created and mapping is imported.
    XSLT provides use of number of standard XPath functions that can replaces graphical mapping involving user defined java functions easily.
    File content conversion at receiver side can be avoided in case of text or html output.
    Multiple occurrences of node within tree (source XML) can be handled easily.
    XSLT can be used in combination with graphical mapping.
    Multi-mapping is also possible using xslt.
    XSLT can be used with ABAP and JAVA Extensions.
    Disadvantages of using XSLT mapping
    Resultant XML payload can not be viewed in SXMB_MONI if not in XML format (for service packs < SP14).
    Interface mapping testing does not show proper error description. So errors in XSLT programs are difficult to trace in XI but can be easily identified outside XI using browser.
    XSLT mapping requires more memory than mapping classes generated in Java.
    XSLT program become lengthier as source structure fields grows in numbers.
    XSLT program sometimes become complex to meet desired functionality.
    Some XSL functions are dependent on version of browser.
    Different types of Mappings
    MAPPING SUPPORTED BY XI
    Message Mapping -> Graphical Design and testing environment. Default Provided By XI. Queue based modelling allow handling or large documents. Extensible via user defined functions
    XSLT Mapping - > Based on openstandard, Portable across application platform, Extensible using user defined functions kewl but disadvantage is Memory overload while handling large documents.
    SAX -> Simple Api For XML. -> Allows you to parse through a XML document. Doesn't consume any memory. But the message can be parsed only once from top to bottom. It Has evolved by contributions made by group of ppl itz a open architecture.
    DOM -> Document Object Model -> Itz designed by W3C. Consumes Memory as the message will be loaded. Allows parsing of document in both way top down and bottom up.
    Send me your email id.Shall send you very good docs for both ABAP Mapping and message mapping.
    Thanks

  • XI 7.0 passing attributes between java mapping and message mapping

    Hi all,
    Here's a newbie question. There is a scenario where an interface mapping has several stages of java mapping and message mapping
    I would like to know how to set attributes in the java mapping so that it can be accessed in a message map (or vice versa). What I intend to do is pass some information from one mapping to the other so that action can be taken based on the values passed.
    Thank you!

    Another option is storing the values in the message header in the same way as the Adapter-Specific Message Attributes:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/43/09b16006526e72e10000000a422035/frameset.htm
    Just use your own name/namespace combination, which is not used in any adapter.
    If possible use the way that Sandro proposed and add the information which you need to additional tags in the payload.

  • Horizontal Mapping and Flat mapping with Metadata Value Indicator

    Hi
    I have an abstract class B which itself extends another abstract class A.
    There is no table for A. The fields in A are mapped to B. I believe this
    is called "horizontal mapping"
    C and D inherit off B. There's a also a table named B (mapped to class B),
    but none for C or D. Instances of C and D are recorded in table B. I
    believe this is called "flat mapping"
    B has a field foo whose possible values are 'fred' and 'wilma'.
    If foo='fred', then the record is of type C
    If foo='wilma', then the record is of type D
    I believe this is called "class indicator" of type metadata.
    To express this, I have package.jdo which says
    <class name="A"/>
    <class name="B" persistence-capable-superclass="A"/>
    <class name="C" persistence-capable-superclass="B"/>
    <class name="D" persistence-capable-superclass="B"/>
    In B.mapping, I have
    <mapping>
    <package name="domain">
    <class name="B">
    <jdbc-class-map type="horizontal"/>
    <jdbc-class-ind type="metadata-value" column="foo"/>
    </class>
    </package>
    </mapping>
    B.java has a private String foo.
    In C.mapping, I have
    <mapping>
    <package name="domain">
    <class name="C">
    <jdbc-class-map type="flat"/>
    <jdbc-class-ind-value value="fred"/>
    field mappings for C
    </class>
    </package>
    </mapping>
    and similarly in D for value='wilma'
    My questions are...
    1. Is this kind of mapping supported by kodo?
    2. If so, is this configuration correct? I guess not, since I don't
    specify the table name anywhere. Where should it go?
    3. If I remove the "class indicator" mapping and run a simple test I get
    kodo.util.FatalUserException: There is no superclass mapping for mapping

  • Class-Map and Policy-Map Configuration in CM Confusion

    Hi,
    I'm implementing a green field WAAS deployment for a customer. We currently have a Proof-of-Concept up and running.
    I've got some questions regarding custom class-map and policy-map configuration in the CM. I'd like to nail-down the custom class-map and policy-map configuration (and understanding) in the PoC before cutting over the PoC branches to the production WAAS environment.
    Assuming a typical WAAS Deployment using WCCP for off-path interception, branch to DC.
     ==> 61 in LAN (BRANCH ROUTER) <== 62 in WAN        (WAN CLOUD)        ==> 61 in WAN (DC ROUTER) <== 62 in LAN
    We are using two distinct device groups, BRANCH and DATA CENTER.
    If the customer has traffic that we need to classify in order to provide TFO only optimisation, should the single class-map include the traffic in both directions? Ie., (assume the SERVER is 10.1.1.1 TCP Port 443). Should the class-map be configured as:
    Class-Map
    Line 1: DST IP 10.1.1.1 DST Port 443
    Line 2: SRC IP 10.1.1.1 SRC Port 443
    Or in this case is only the DST line required? And in which Device Group should the custom policy be applied? Or should it be applied to both Device Groups? If it should be applied to both Device Groups, then would it make more sense to have the policy-map in the Branch DG configured to match the DST traffic, and on the Data Center DG have a different class-map match the SRC traffic?
    My confusion is how to classify the traffic (SRC or DST or Both - Separate classes for each or different lines within the same class-map), and where to apply the appropriate policy (both Device Groups, just Branch, just DC) and why...
    I tried to apply a custom policy and the impact in the PoC was that the TCP Summary report stopped reporting the individual traffic classes showed 'other traffic' only. Can anyone explain why this may have occurred?
    I hope this makes sense.

    for instance like this:
    policy-map police-in
    class class-default
    police rate 10 mpbs <optionally set burst>
    policy-map shape-out-parent
    class class-default
    shape 10 mpbs <optional burst config>
    service-policy shape-out-child
    policy-map shape-out-child
    class class-default
    queue-limit 10 packets
    int g 0/0/0/0
    service-policy police-in in
    service-policy shape-out-parent out
    also have a look at CL 2013/2014 (orlando/sanfran) ID 2904 for more QOS details

  • Steps to configure Import Server and Syndication server

    Hi,
       Can some one help me to work on Import Server and Syndication server. I know there are few forums availabe on this topic but they are not very basic. I need to know the basic step(From installation to automatic transfer of data.) to work on Import <b>Serve</b>r and Syndication <b>Server</b>.

    Hi Ron,
    The MDM Import Server is a background process (service), which separates the core processing of master data imports from the front-end processing. MDM Import Server allows you to load master data records periodically from various
    client systems to various MDM Servers and repositories based on the port concept.
    Once the data is delivered by SAP XI on a specific port, it will automatically get picked within a configurable time interval and queued up for import processing.
    MDM Import Server creates log files of the entire load process, which are stored
    in the port folder Log and can be displayed in MDM Console.
    If an error occurs in the automated import, the MDM Import Server stops and
    drops the XML in the Exception folder of the port. You can import the XML
    interactively using the MDM Import Manager and correct the error (for example
    complete the import map).
    Hope this might help....

  • Java Mapping  and Graphical Mapping

    Hi All,
    Could any one clarifies the situation where we need to write in a same interface ,
    Both Java mapping and Graphical mapping.
    Regards,
    venu.

    Hi,
       Here is a scenario where you might need to use both graphical and user defined functions.
    source: <fname> <lname> <filename>
    target: <name> <filetype>
    Suppose, you need to concatenate fname and lname into the target <name> tag, you could use the normal graphical mapping using the concat function.
    <fname>\
    concat <name>
    <lname>/
    next, if we need to extract only the filetype from the filename, for example, if we have filename.txt... and we want only the value .txt, we need to write a user defined function which would achieve this for u, since there are no inbuilt function which can solve this for you in graphical mapping.
    Further XSLT mapping comes into picture when we need to create the entire target xml structure. Again, graphical mapping would not be useful here.
    Regards,
    Smitha.

  • Message Mapping And Interface Mapping

    Hi,
    I have 2 software components.
    One is for sender and one is for receiver.I have created all the Data types,Message type and Message Interface fro sender in the first Software component and data types ,message type ,message interface for the receiver in the second software component .
    Now, in which Software component should i create Message Mapping and Interface Mapping?
    Thanks in Advance,
    mvk

    Hi,
    You could use the created Message type and Message interfaces in Sender as well as receiver software components for creating message mapping, interface mapping and integration scenario.
    Generally it makes sense to maintain the message mapping, interface mapping and integration scenario in receiver software component. The message mapping and Integration scenario is specifically based on the receiver end requirments, so its preffered on receiver software component.
    The sender side details could be reusable in case if you need those for another new receiver software component. If you maintain it in sender component, then that will lead to mix-up all the things on sender side even though its based on receiver end.
    I think this could help you.
    In PI7.1 now there is concept of Folders to maintain all the interfaces appropriatly and leads for reusability of existing objects.
    Please refer below links for more details,

  • Driving times vary from Maps and Google maps?

    When I plot a trip I find driving times vary significantly from Maps and Google maps.  I wonder what the paramieters are for attaching driving times to routes?  I would hope that it were speed limits.

    Basically it is average driving time. Speed limits is a factor but so is congestion, terrain, weather, construction, etc. Since Apple and Google get their data from different sources, the results are always going to be different.
