I have application in ASP Classic using Crystal Reports 8.5
I want to upgrade into Crystal Report XI.
What are the considerations & changes I have to take if I still using ASP Classic environment ?
I will be grateful if there is a sample ?
What are the required runtimes files ?

Hi -- I have a Report link on a column, and I want to set an item to one of the report columns which contains URL values (like "http://...."). If I do that, the URL ends up in the hyperlink and is not escaped, so the colon confuses things. How do I get the report column to be escaped?

You can convert the colon to whatever you like in your select statement but you cannot supply a colon as part of an item value field in an f?p URL.

Hey everybody,
I need your help in connecting both Forms 6i & Reports 6i with Oracle 10g Release 2 db, MS Access(2003, 2007) and SQL database(Microsoft Visual Studio 2008). I am a newbie. I have installed all of them on my HP notebook, with Windows 7 Ultimate(32 bit OS) installed. I want to generate forms & reports by accessing data from above mentioned databases. Please provide me with the configuration steps.

First, I think it would be a good idea if we can understand why you have chosen to use a nearly new operating system yet install Oracle products that are 10 years old (i.e. Forms/Reports 6i) on it. In general, this is not a good idea. Although running such an old version on Win7 can be made to work, the possibility of having problems is likely. If you are infact new to the product, using a configuration where you are likely to have problems may not be a good starting place. Also, you should be aware that Forms/Reports 6i was desupported several years ago. Documentation and other information is gradually being replaced by newer information, so resources for this old version are going away. The latest version of Forms/Reports is part of Fusion Middleware 11R2 (version 11.1.2.0) and requires WebLogic Server 10.3.5 (or 10.3.6) in order to be installed.
Second, if you decide to stick with F/R 6i, are you planning to run the applications you create in a browser or as a client/server application? This information is important because how you connect to a database will slightly differ depending on which option you choose. Also, if you want to connect to non-Oracle data sources you can use ODBC for client/server or Oracle Transparent Gateway. However, if you plan to deploy the applications using a browser, Gateway is your only option for connecting to non-Oracle datasources. As for connecting to MS Access, I believe ODBC is your only option, so web deployment may not be an option.

As for connecting to an Oracle database, this is generally easy. For the Builder(s) and client/server runtime to connect, add the db information to the tnsnames.ora found in the Oracle Home (installation directory) \network\admin. If you are unfamiliar with what goes in the file you can copy the entries created for your database. The db will have a similar file found in a similar place in its installation directory (Oracle Home). For example, you might find something like this:

One way is to get & Install 10.6, then update it to 10.6.8.

How do I upgrade from GB 5.1 to a newer version with 10.8.2 ?

I am currently running Mac OS 10.8.2, yet only have Garageband 5.1 (aka Garageband '09).
I cannot find anywhere how to upgrade to a newer version of Garageband.
I see the newest (?) seems to be Garageband 6.0.5, but when I tried to download it, it tells me "GarageBand 6.0 or later is required to install this update." and will not allow the update to continue.
I cannot find a download for version 6.0 on the apple support page. And even then, I don't know if it will tell me that I need to install an earlier version, before I attempt to update to version 6.0..... etc.
I hope my question makes sense?

After installation of OSX Snow Leopard and installation of neccessary updates to it you can then use the Mac App Store to buy OSX Lion and install it.

Crystal Report XI with ASP

Hi,
I installed Crystal Report XI on production environment and trying to call reports from ASP.
I am calling the reports from ASP file which included with Alwaysrequired.asp and SmartActivesViewer.asp as well as RDCrptserver10.asp.
After calling the report the page has been loaded with blank viewer with out data other controls.
I want to know the difference between RDCrptserver10.asp and RDCrptserver11.asp except

My reports are working fine on version 10.

Are your javascripts enabled on your web browser? it might be that is causing an issue.
As for the two different files are concern I think one is for Version 10 and other one is for version XI.
That is what I think I wouldn't know if that is the fact to be honest.

How to use bugzilla to report problems with OVM

I want to use bugzilla.oracle.com to post some problems with OVM 3.1.1. After registration process (follow the link received in the confirmed email)
I try to login, but it seems that it is not possible to login. Normally the login name should be displayed at the top of the window (I know it from bugzilla.redhat.com), but at Oracle I arrived again at https://bugzilla.oracle.com/bugzilla/index.cgi after login.
So in general it seems that it is not possbile to use bugzilla.oracle.com. All searches I tried display no results.
Has anyone some experience in this issue?

Where to put the code:
normally... You will put the code in before report trigger.
to define the parameter...
srw.run_report('parameter1=param_value');
insert ----> parameter1=param_value <-- somewhere in the comand line, there should be no problem with that.

I am desperately trying to update my iPhone from my MacBook Air. But before I do so, I am trying to back up my iPhone. Every time I connect my iPhone to my laptop and hit 'manually back up', it stops with the following message:
"iTunes could not back up the iPhone because not enough free space is available on this computer."
I have a 60G laptop. I have deleted everything I had stored on this laptop (which was not much to begin with).
I then tried checking out my MacBook Air usage/storage by clicking Launchpad and going into 'System Information' then clicking on storage. It then showed me the following:
Volume Name: Macintosh HD
Capacity: 59.81GB
Available: 1.55GB
What i'm struggling to understand is what is taking up so much room/storage on my laptop? I barely use it and I save practically everything onto my hard drive.
Can anyone shed some light?

Try a few things: 1) restart in safe mode (restart holding the shift key) and this will repair the drive (if need be) and trim/delete cache files. Restart normally.
2) if you use iPhoto or Aperture launch the program and then empty the trash folder of the program(s). Launch your Mail program and check out how much is in the Trash and Archive folders. You can delete the really old stuff if there is any.
3) Download omniDiskSweeper (free) to see what's on your drive. Be careful about deleting anything that isn't in your personal drive space and be very careful about deleting anything in the Library folder.

Oracle Apps.XML reports ending with warning when the report output contains

Hi I have XML reports. When we run these reports as concurrent program through Oracle Apps. window and if the report output contains special characters(like Chineese data) in between of English, then the concurrent program is ending with warning. If we remove special characters then it is working fine or when we run the report query directly from backend it is working fine.
We are importing this data from legacy system into oracle apps. and we can't control these characters or decode them with some other charactes.
Can any one guide me how to get the XML report output with special characters.

For the same when we remove special characters and run the program it is completing and generating the

I have standalone Crystal report 10 and VS2008 Professional 2008 SP1 Installed.
the version number for crystal report shown for Crystal report 10 with SP6 is 10.0.1.2522
the version number for VS2008 built in crystal report is 10.5.1943.
I have a project that crystal report is designed by 10.5.3700 so that when I try to open the rpt file .
I get an error says I some feature will be disabled becase the rpt file is designed by late version.
How Can I upgrade both the buildin part and standalone part of report design to 10.5.3700?

try opening the rpt file in the visual studio and saving it again. it should be able to upgrade the reports to the newer version.
for upgrading the project to use the 10.5 references / dlls you will need to remove the 10.0 references from the project and add the 10.5 ones.

Use the upgrade management tool to move from 3.1 reports to BO 4.1. After migration, open the report in crystal enterprise 4.0, you will get a message saying that the report will be converted to latest version, will not be able to view from older version after converting. (Similar words- not sure exact words).
