  • How can I locate the original .CR2 /  Raw file from Photos in finder?

How can I locate the original .CR2 /  RAW file from Photos in the finder window? I would like to know a easier way to open my files and use them in Photoshop than having to go to the Pictures folder, right clicking "show packaged contents", and manually searching for my CR2's / RAW's. It is also ridiculous to have to export the RAW file to my desktop, and then take it into Photoshop or another photo editing program.  I was able to do this in iPhoto and find I cannot do so in Photos. Please help? Can you please consider adding a right click function that says "Show Original file in Finder". That would make it so much easier and better for those of us who want a simple way to access the original files and use them in other editing programs. At least with iPhoto you could go to the top menu / preferences and find your items.

http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html is the place for feature requests and feedback
Rather than use the 'Show package Contents route, the supported and safer way is to export the unmodfied original.

  • Creative Cloud is always empty and I cannot update LR and PS and cannot open RAW files from my new camera!

My Creative Cloud is always empty.  I've had this trouble for over a year.  I cannot update Lightroom because of it and Photoshop does not update properly.  I cannot open the RAW files from my new camera, a Nikon D750.  Each time I want to update, I have to talk to you and delete things and reinstall things but it doesn't fix it properly!
I have contacted Adobe before and always have to go through a tedious delete stuff and reinstall, then next time it happens all over again.
I'm really fed up with it and want to know how to fix it properly.  I am in the UK, if that makes any difference.

  • Why will Camera Raw 6.7.1 in CS5 not recognize Raw files from a Sony DSC RX100M3?   The Camera Raw site indicates this camera is covered.

I have a new Sony DSC RX100M3 and Camera Raw (6.7.1) in Photoshop CS5 (on a Mac) will not recognize the Raw files from this camera.  What must I do?

    Well, I guess the sentence
The table below lists all cameras that the Camera Plug-in (versions 1.0 through 8.5) supports.
could be interpreted to mean that even version 1 supports all those cameras’ raw formats.
    And even the sentence
This powerful plug-in has been frequently updated to support more cameras and include more features and is available as part of Adobe Photoshop CC.
which should make clear that older versions of Camera Raw usually support fewer cameras does not unambiguously make clear that only the most recent full version of Camera Raw is being updated.
So I kind of understand how you arrived at your assumption.

  • Why does Camera Raw 6.7.1 w/ Photoshop CS5 not convert raw files from a Nikon D610 camera?

I just upgraded  my Nikon D90 camera to a D610.  I've been using Adobe Bridge to manage my photos made with the D90, and Camera Raw 6.3 to convert the raw files for use in Photoshop CS5.  The new D610 writes different raw files, so I upgraded Camera Raw to the latest version (6.7.1) which is said to be compatable with the latest Nikon cameras.
The D90 files still convert fine with Camera Raw 6.7.1, but the raw files from the D610 cannot be read.  Does anyone have any insight into why not?
    Thanks,
    JoelP

There will not be another update for Camera Raw 6.x which is the version that is compatible with Photoshop CS5. So you will not have a way to natively open your NEF files from the Nikon D610.  But you can download the DNG converter (version 8.3 RC) from Adobe Labs and use it to create digital negative copies of your NEF files. And then you can use those with the Camera Raw that you already have. Other alternatives would be to upgrade to Photoshop CC, or Photoshop Elements 12, or add Lightroom to your workflow. If you choose Lightroom you would have to use the 5.3 release candidate at this point to have support for your camera. It will, of course, be supported in the final version of Lightroom 5.3 as well as all subsequent versions of Lightroom.

  • Photoshop CS5- raw files from Nikon D600 camera.

I need to know how to get Photoshop CS5 to read Raw files from my new Nikon D600 camera.  I do NOT want to have to buy another version of Photoshop or have to buy Lightroom.  This is really distressing me!

I think that if a camera manufacturer is convinced that their proprietary software gets a better result from their RAW data than Adobe’s ACR it is only fair that they try to get their customers to use their software.
For many users the potential difference in quality seems to be utterly irrelevant, though, and they are simply being inconvenienced.
But fortunately for the camera makers many of those users seem to blame Adobe … even though with DNG Adobe has already provided a format that they could use if they wanted to make their data more open.
If using DNG Converter really is an
    annoying extra step
for you I think the Adobe employee’s advice was basically correct and you may need to purchase the current version of Photoshop (or Lightroom).

  • Direct editing of raw file from LR in Camera Raw?

Does anyone know if it is possible to take a camera raw file from lightroom and open it directly in Camera Raw for editing rather than use the editing in LR itself. I thought I read somewhere that it is possible to do this as an automatic setting - when choosing the "edit in Photoshop" menu option a raw file will be opened in Camera Raw and the changes tracked in LR. I prefer the Camera Raw interface in Ps so am hoping I can do this and then proceed on to Ps if I need to do further processing.  I am using LR4 and Ps6 on a Mac with the latest updates.  I am a recent convert to LR/Ps from Aperture so am still learning. Any help appreciated. Cheers

I would recommend exploring several of the free tutorials  on the Adobe TV web site, before deciding on a specific workflow. LR Develop Module does the same things that ACR Plugin does in PS, the major difference being LR stores the info in the LR Catalog while ACR stores the info in .xmp sidecar files or within the DNG file if you are using that option. • Can't open raw files from a supported camera

Hi.  I just uninstalled pse 12, installed pse 13 and ran all updates.  I still can't open raw files from my Nikon D5200, which is a supported model.  It works on a Vista system I have with pse 12, so it definitely isn't the camera.  Any ideas?

The D5200 has been supported since midway through PSE11’s life, so PSE12 and PSE13 should work ok.
I’d suspect that the NEFs have been touched by Nikon software which can rendering them unrecognizable to Adobe products.  You can test for this by using Explorer to copy a newly shot raw file from your memory card to the computer and then see if that will open, making sure no Nikon software has viewed it or been involved in the copy process.
If the files are corrupted, then a utility from here can reverse it:

  • How do I get thumbnails when converting RAW files from Lumix TZ60?

I recently purchased a Lumix TZ60 camera because of its ability to record in RAW format and am extremely pleased with its performance.
However, although I am able to convert the RAW files on my iMAC using Adobe DNG Converter (Version 8.7),  the converted files do not have an accompanying thumbnail. This is very frustrating and slows my work flow considerably. Please could you advise me how I can solve this problem.
I do not experience similar problems with RAW files converted in the same way from my NIkon D7100.

Did you check the compatibility options in the DNG converter to ensure you have the right version selected for the converted file?

  • Having trouble reading /opening raw files from NIKON 1AW1 camera inn lightroom 5.2

We have the new Nikon 1AW1 camera and it shoots in raw and jpeg format.  I prefer RAW.  We have opened and processed 1000s of raw images from our other Nikon DSLRs.  With this new camera keep getting the unrecognized  format??   any hints??

The two pictures provided seem to have different magenta/green (Tint) balance from each other, but without knowing what WB is set in camera or what WB is set in LR that could be what is expected.
The original problem as described seemed to be that a single picture changed its Color (perhaps WB) and Tone (light/dark/contrast) from when viewed on camera to when viewed in LR.  Slight changes in color and tone would be expected because Adobe doesn't have access to nor is trying to reproduce the raw-conversion only the camera manufacturer knows the specifics of, but WB is something Adobe can read and attempts to make the same as far as neutrals still being neutral.  Seeing two different pictures with an obvious shift in WB isn't an illustration of things looking different between the camera and LR for a specific image, but maybe the WB variance is what you're really wondering about.
What WB mode were you shooting in with the camera, Auto WB?  And what WB mode do you have set for these two images in LR (As Shot, Auto, Custom, etc), and what specific WB numbers do you see in LR for these two images?  Also, what camera profile do you have set in the camera and what camera profile do you have set in LR?
If your camera is set to Auto WB then both the camera and LR would show whatever WB the camera determined for each image and that could vary from one image to the next.  The way to fix the WB variance in LR is to figure out what WB to use and then synchronize that across a group of raw images so they all have the same WB.
One confusing thing is that if you like the WB on a particular image and synchronize that image to a group of others, but it happens that the image mode of the image you are syncing to is As Shot, then you won't be syncing the specific Temp and Tint values between the images, you'll be syncing the As Shot mode between all the images so nothing will appear to change.  If you are starting with an image WB you like that still says As Shot then tweak the WB slightly up and back, so the same numbers are there in Custom mode, then that Custom mode AND the same numbers will be synced to all the other raws as expected.
As far as keeping the same toning you see on your camera's review screen (the camera-embedded preview JPG is what you're seeing, here) and what LR shows you by default, is not going to happen, and will be more off if you have the camera doing some exposure optimization like HTP or ALO (if those are still the acronyms Canon uses) because, again, that optimization only affects the camera JPG, except the HTP actually underexposes so LR's version of the images might be darker than what the camera shows because it's digitally boosted the ISO between the time it writes the raw data and produces the in-camera JPG preview.
Regarding your previous question about using DNGs or CR2s, the particular format of the raw data shouldn't affect how LR works with the images.  Obviously if your DNG conversion includes reducing the size of the images or using lossy compression, then the image dimensions and some aspects of the details, both sharpness and noise-reduction will change compared to the original raw but those sorts of things will be always be different than the in-camera JPGs as well, so it seems unlikely part of what you're seeing.

  • Apperture doesn't read the RAW files from my new Camera

Hi, Apperture doesn't read the RAW files downloaded from my new Camera Fujifilm X-S1. What options do I have to work with .RAF (Fujifilm RAW)?
I was thinking about using RAW Converter PRO but it cannot upload the full information contained into the RAF file. Maybe there is another Program I can use until Aperture includes my camera in its DB.
    Greats!

I've been a loyal Apple user for 20 years and have been using Aperture for the last 2 years. The X-pro came out a YEAR ago and still no x-trans sensor support and yet Lightroom by Adobe and Capture One now has RAW support.I've had to switch to the Lightroom trial as I have a busy studio in hope that Apple might bother with me but again no reply to my emails.
If I have to purchase Lightroom I will probably not come back to Aperture which is a shame
Apple seem to have got too big for good customer service these days unless it's an iPhone or iPad
