How do i upgrade iphoto 6.x in mac os x 10.6.8?

hi there, i don't know if this is the right place to post this question... but i do
Before posting it in ilife section, i'd like to know if someone here has, or had, the same "problem".
This all originated from the upgrade i did on my ooooold macbook (2005/2006) to 10.6 one year ago (more or less).
Once i realized i had to upgrade ilife... it's too late because of system req.
Any hint appreciated, thanx
.rik

Thanx for replying
But since ilife components in the App Store have sys req too high for me (i.e. 10.7.5+), what would you suggest me to do?
Apple stores don't sell boxes anymore; Amazon.com doesn't sell software to Italy; ebay.... nope; what else?
just don't upgrade? mmmmhhhh, too easy!
aaah, according to you, why 'about garageband' says it is garageband '11?

Go to the App site and check for latest which is 9.6 or open iPhoto and check for updates.

How do I upgrade iPhoto for Yosemite 10.10.3?

You ned to upgrade or update iPhoto 9.6.1 with Yosemite 10.10.3, and that update version is only available from the App Store.
It  will depend on the iPhoto version you own, if you still can update to a Yosemite compatible version.  If you have any version of iPhoto '11, and it is listed at the Appstore among your purchases, you can move the incompatible version to the Trash and reload the appStore Purchases page with ⌘R.  Then try, to reinstall from that page.
If you own an older iPhoto version, you cannot update it, you need to buy iPhoto '11, bu apple is no longer selling it. And the retail versions on iLife installer CDs are not compatible with Yosemite.

How do I upgrade iphoto on older macbook?

Purchase the Snow Leopard disk from Apple here: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). Then update to 10.6.8 with this updater: Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1
With 10.6.8 you can run iPhoto 9.2.3 which is available via the iLife 11 disk from a 3rd party vendor like Amazon.com  or eBay.com.  You'll need to run the 9.1, 9.2 and  then the 9.2.3 updaters which can be found here: Apple - Support - Downloads

That's exactly what I tried to do, but the iPhoto librry doesn't show up in the pulldown menu. If I click "Choose Folder", the iPhoto library is greyed out and unable to be selected.
For some reason, iPhoto is an option in the pulldown library on my older iMac but not on my MacBook Pro. What gives?

Ok wonder why you ask then
I don't know but how do I downgrade from iphoto 9.3 to 8?
    But
You can check into iPhoto Library Manager - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ -  for the possibility of downgrading your library -I've not personally tried that

  • HT4906 How do I upgrade iPhoto on a family computer, when App Store tells me it is already installed?

How can I install iPhoto 9 and use iCloud Photostreaming, when App Store says it is already installed? I have two Apple IDs (family computer) which may be the root of the confusion. The one I use for iTunes purchasing and use solely on my work iMac has already upgraded successfully.

install iPhoto 9 and use iCloud Photostreaming
To use Photo Stream and iCloud you will need iPhoto '11 ( version 9.3.x) not iPhoto '09. The version numbers are rather confusing.
when App Store says it is already installed?
Do you see it in the AppStore as installed, when you sign in with your AppleID, but you cannot update it?
Backup your computer and you iPhoto libraries.
Then delete iPhoto from the Applications folder, or from whereever it is installed; you do not need to empty the trash. This way you will  be able to put iPhoto back.
Sign into the App Store with your apple ID and reinstall instead of update.
    Does that work?
If not, put iPhoto back and try with the other AppleID.

  • How can I upgrade iPhoto from 8.1.2 but without upgrading OSX from 10.6.8?

I have an iMac ca. 2008 vintage which is currently running OSX 10.6.8. Due to various problems I had to do a restore and everything worked OK afterwards except iPhoto (v. 8.1.2.). When I try to launch it I get the error message "iPhoto cannot be opened because of a problem" - Error log below.
As I understand it I cannot reinstall the original version of IPhoto that came ready loaded on the iMac. On the App Store the only version of iPhoto available requires Yosemite and I don't want to upgrade to that.

Not sure why you "understand" that you can not reinstall the original version - you can reinstall from the original source
    Could be
1 - the restore disks that came with the computer - if it came with CDs and you do not know where they are then contact Apple to see if they can be replaced
    or
2 - the iLife DVD that you purchased
    or
3 - the app store - log in under the Apple id used to purchase the software or to set up the computer - look under purchases - you might have to unhide or accept the Application first
But the error looks like you may need to reinstall the OS as you are missing sme required system elements

  • How to merge multiple iPhoto libraries on one Mac

When I (option+click) on iPhoto I see 3 libraries to choose from. I don't know how I got them but I want to merge all 3 into a single library. How do I do that? I downloaded iPhoto library manager already but from there I am lost.

    You'll need to purchase it.
Then check the instructions here - 6.4...

  • How do I share iPhoto libraries between two Macs?

Hi! I would ideally like to have one iPhoto library to share between two different Mac laptops. Is there some way I can set it up so that the same library can be shared, edited, and updated? Or if not, is there a way I can see the other Mac's iPhoto library? Both computers share the same Wifi and both using Mountain Lion OS (but I can upgrade if that would help).
    Thanks!

The only way to do what you want is to put the Library on an external disk formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Then connect - a wired usb/firewire/thunderbird  connection - the drive to each machine as required.
What you're describing is a media server. They start at the $200 mark.

  • How best to transfer iPhoto Library from old Mac to new Mac

I've just taken delivery of a gleaming new 17inch iMac. (I'm very proud!)
I have an old G3 iMac with approx 1000 photo's on iPhoto. (Not sure which version but that Mac is still running OSX 10.1.5 so it's a fairly early version).
What is the best way to transfer the photo's across? I'd like to keep the album structure in place if possible.
I'm fairly sure I can do this by connecting the macs with an ethernet cable but I haven't got a clue how to do it!
Thanks in advance for any help.

Given that you've already started using the iPhoto on the new machine then yes, copying the iPhoto Library Folder from the external HD will certainly affect things. If you copy it to the default location in your Pictures Folder it will overwrite the new one.
So, now you now have two libraries and you want to merge them. How much effort have you put into the new one? If it's only a roll or two you could simply take the rolls out of the NEW iPhoto Library Folder / Originals, then copy the OLD one over - letting it over write, then import the NEW photos.
If you have a lot of work, you can merge the two libraries. For that, you'll need iPhoto Library Manager

ps - it is quite easy to do... until you create a second library.

  • How to easily transfer iphoto mediathek to new mac

    Hello,
I have a simple question but have not found answers to this so far, therefore I hope you can help me.
I just have purchased an iMac. On my old Macbook I´ve all my pictures in iPhoto, with folders etc. The transfer has not succeeded so I am searching for a way on how to completely transfer the complete iPhoto pictures and folder structure of my old MacBook to my new iMac.
    Does anybody know?
Thank you so much in advance!

To move an iPhoto Library to a new machine:
Link the two Macs together: there are several ways to do this: Wireless Network, Firewire Target Disk Mode, Ethernet, or even just copy the Library to an external HD and then on to the new machine...
But however you do choose to link the two machines...
Simply copy the iPhoto Library from the Pictures Folder on the old Machine to the Pictures Folder on the new Machine.
    Then launch iPhoto. That's it.
This moves photos, events, albums, books, keywords, slideshows and everything else.
    Regards
