How do I upgrade iphoto on older macbook?

How do I upgrade iphoto on older macbook?

Purchase the Snow Leopard disk from Apple here: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). Then update to 10.6.8 with this updater: Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1
With 10.6.8 you can run iPhoto 9.2.3 which is available via the iLife 11 disk from a 3rd party vendor like Amazon.com  or eBay.com.  You'll need to run the 9.1, 9.2 and  then the 9.2.3 updaters which can be found here: Apple - Support - Downloads

How do I upgrade iPhoto for Yosemite 10.10.3?

You ned to upgrade or update iPhoto 9.6.1 with Yosemite 10.10.3, and that update version is only available from the App Store.
It  will depend on the iPhoto version you own, if you still can update to a Yosemite compatible version.  If you have any version of iPhoto '11, and it is listed at the Appstore among your purchases, you can move the incompatible version to the Trash and reload the appStore Purchases page with ⌘R.  Then try, to reinstall from that page.
If you own an older iPhoto version, you cannot update it, you need to buy iPhoto '11, bu apple is no longer selling it. And the retail versions on iLife installer CDs are not compatible with Yosemite.

Since neil is recommending an upgrade to 10.6, you must have an intel processor.

There is no upgrade to iPhoto with OS X 10.10.3 - here was an update to version 9.6.1 a few months ago and Photo 1.0 was added with 10.10.3 - what software and which version are you having trouble with - iPhoto or Photos?

  • Problem syncing upgrade iPhone with older Macbook

Today I synced my iPhone 3GS for the first time with my Dad's Macbook Pro. I updated my iPhone to version 4.3.2m as it suggested. Now I can't (re)sync my iPhone to my own (older) Macbook Pro (10.4.11). It says I need iTunes 10 , but I can't get that with 10.4.11. Do I need to upgrade to Snow Leopard and if so will I lose all my documents and files? thanks.

What version of iTunes do you have on your Mac : iTunes > About iTunes ? And what version of OS X do you have on your Mac ?

Ok wonder why you ask then
I don't know but how do I downgrade from iphoto 9.3 to 8?
    But
You can check into iPhoto Library Manager - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ -  for the possibility of downgrading your library -I've not personally tried that

  • HT4906 How do I upgrade iPhoto on a family computer, when App Store tells me it is already installed?

How can I install iPhoto 9 and use iCloud Photostreaming, when App Store says it is already installed? I have two Apple IDs (family computer) which may be the root of the confusion. The one I use for iTunes purchasing and use solely on my work iMac has already upgraded successfully.

install iPhoto 9 and use iCloud Photostreaming
To use Photo Stream and iCloud you will need iPhoto '11 ( version 9.3.x) not iPhoto '09. The version numbers are rather confusing.
when App Store says it is already installed?
Do you see it in the AppStore as installed, when you sign in with your AppleID, but you cannot update it?
Backup your computer and you iPhoto libraries.
Then delete iPhoto from the Applications folder, or from whereever it is installed; you do not need to empty the trash. This way you will  be able to put iPhoto back.
Sign into the App Store with your apple ID and reinstall instead of update.
    Does that work?
If not, put iPhoto back and try with the other AppleID.

  • How to access same iPhoto library from MacBook and iPad without making a copy (sync option)

I have a simple question to you guys (tried to sort it out with Apple tech support but no luck there!)
How can I set up iPhoto in a way that I can have access to the same files from iPhoto on MacBook and from iPhoto app on iPad? I do not wish to sync files as this will create a copy of a file and also when for example you do editing of an image on Mac you want that to automatecly reflect on a file being viewed later on on iPad (and the other way around) without the need of a sync. option
I tested this with photo stream but the problem there is that in order to make any changes to an image you HAVE to do it in the library folder you can not do it in the photostream i.e you took a pix on your iPhone, - photostream pushed it to your iPad and to your Mac, - you've desided to let's say to crop the image on Mac then you've closed that image. When then you open the same image on your iPad (or iPhone) the image is not cropped, why? becouse you've edited an image inside the iPhoto library on the Mac and didn't sync it with iPad.
So it would be great if iPhone and Mac worked with the same library - save space and cleaner workflow!

    And again
    there is no solution today
You can not - there is no commonality between iPhoto on the Mac and on the iPad except the name
You can sync - you can use PhotoStream - you can not share a library - and IOS devices can not access external hard drives and if they could they can not read the contents of the iPhoto library since there is no commonality between iPhoto on the Mac and on the iPad except the nameYou can put your iPhoto library on an external drive if you wish as long as the volmne it is on is formattted Mac OS extended (journaled) - but that does not change the fact that neither the iPad nor the iPhone can access it since there is no commonality between iPhoto on the Mac and on the iPad except the nameIt really is extremely simple - you can not do it today

  • Upgrading OS on older Macbook.

Have an older black macbook (bought in 2007).  Running Tiger and processor is 2.16 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo with 2 GB DDR2 SDRAM.  Because I cannot access my iphone now I need to update O/S.  Would the Snow Leopard work well with my current system.  Do I need to un-install or just update and keep my existing data.

As Alan says, backup before doing anything else.
The 10.6 retail installer will replace system files, but should leave all your apps and data untouched.
Check your other applications for compatibility with SL; you may well need to upgrade some of them.
    http://snowleopard.wikidot.com/
Also, it's almost certain that your printer/scanner drivers will need updating (if the manufacturer has deigned to provide new drivers - anything over 3 years old they may not bother).

  • How to install upgrade snow leopard in macbook pro?

I bought a macbook pro 2011 2.2 ghz quad core i7 and would like to install snow leopard in one partition to run older software. I had the full version of os leopard, but can't install in the new macbook pro to upgrade to snow leopard. I can't upgrade snow leopard in my power G5 either because it needs intel cpu. Is there away to upgrade leopard to snow leopard in macbook pro 2011? I have not bought the snow leopard upgrade yet. Thank for your help.

See the bottom of this user tip to determine if Snow Leopard can be installed on your MacBook Pro:
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-2455
If it can, you'll need to find out the version of Snow Leopard installer that was available at the time that machine was released based on the age of the machine.
    Snow Leopard releases are here:
    10.6.6 on January 6, 2011
    10.6.7 on May 4, 2011
    10.6.8 on June 23, 2011

  • Icloud settings say i need to upgrade iphoto on my macbook, but i already have the latest version.

i have a 4S and macbook pro running together on my network.  im able to sync via wifi, and i'm pretty sure my phone is sending things to icloud, but i can't activate photo stream on the macbook.  when i try to turn it on in icloud settings, the option is disabled and i get a message saying install the latest version of iphoto.  when i try to buy it from the app store, it says i already have the latest version.  help?

Would checking the "copy to iPhoto" box and then reimporting do it or will I end up with two copies of the same photos?
You'll end up with two copies and only one will have Faces attached.
The external drive is a MyBookLive, which my Mac says is formatted for Mac. It doesn't seem to be creating any issues.
What does Disk Utility report the format as?
As I'm using a MacBook Air that doesn't have an ethernet connection, I have no choice but to import over my wireless network.
A strong warning: If you're trying to edit the Library (that is, make albums, move photos around, keyword, make books or slideshows etc.) or edit individual photos in it via Wireless be very careful. Dropouts are a common fact of wireless networking, and should one occur while the app is writing to the database then your Library will be damaged. Simply, I would not do this with my Libraries.
My biggest issue at the moment is how do I copy the photos into iPhoto without having to start the process all over again.
    Worth a try:
Check the box at the iPhoto Preferences: then
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • How do I uninstall iPhoto from my MacBook Pro? It won't let me shut down my computer cause it keeps telling me to wait for my images to import, but there isn't anything importing...?

I can't shut my computer down side my iPhoto app is telling me that it's importing pictures, but not is happening & I wanted to uninstall iPhoto to see if that would work. Please some one help me! This is annoying.

The "Importing" message can be cause by a corruption of your iPhoto library - then uninstalling will not help. Try this:
    Force Quit iPhoto:
From the -menu in the upper left corner of the screen:   > Force quit ⌥⌘⎋
Then select iPhoto from the panel.
Then fix your iPhoto library and remove the "Importing" folder from the library  -
