How do I upgrade OS 10 (10.5.8) to Lion on My Imac?
Have an IMac whose purchased date may extend back 4-5 years. Currently running 10.5.8 and am trying to update the OS so I can run the current version of VM Software (ver 5) that I found out only runs on the more updated Mac OS's. The serial number of my computer is QP******0KM.
I tried to determine if the system was purchased prior to mid 2007 and have no way of finding this out. I don't want to purchase a license for Lion only to find out my IMac is not capable of handling the software. Would appreciate a helping hand here.

Choose About this Mac from the Apple menu and look at the processor and memory lines; Lion requires a Core 2 Duo or better and at least 2GB RAM. If the system has both, phone the online Apple Store and order a Mac OS X 10.6 DVD and a download code for Lion.

Which version of Mac OS are you running on your iMac? (You're not running iOS6 on it.)
If you purchased that OS from the app store, then you can download it to as many computers as you own or control (including your Macbook Air). However, if your iMac came preinstalled with the current OS, then the license is only good for that computer and you must buy it for any other computer. -
