  • Can I upgrade to Mac Lion for free again?

    Hi
I bought my Macbook Pro in June 2011, and beacse I bought it between a certian timeframe, I was able to upgrade to OS X lion for free from the app store durring a promo or something. All I had to do was put in my Mac serial number to confirm it was right.
I sort of wnat to restore my laptop back....however, that will make it go back to leapord, not lion.
I was wondering if there would be some way to re-get lion for free? I know with other aplications, on the iPhone anyway, you can simply click 'buy now' and it says you already had it once, so you can get it again for free... but since I never paid for this, will it make me?
Thanks, any help is greatly appreciated.

No one here would have any information as to where the MacBook Pro was purchased.
Contact the person who gifted the Mac.

I have a pre-2008 Mac PRO how do I upgrade to Mountain Lion? On the Apple's site on upgrading (http://www.apple.com/osx/how-to-upgrade/), I see that "Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)" is required for the upgrade. What's up with that?

  • How do I upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion for free?

How do I upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion for free? I just bought a new Mac Book Pro 5 days ago with OS X Lion. The Apple store said I could download the new OS for free by entering the receipt # and total amount of the purchase.  I don't know where to start or where to enter this information.  Please help.

    Hi,
Just go to http://www.apple.com/osx/uptodate/ if in the US otherwise go to main Apple homepage, click on the 'Mountain Lion is here' icon then scroll to the bottom where it says 'Get a free upgrade with your new Mac'. All the info should be there. I did this myself yesterday and am now awaiting my coupon code to get it for free.

  • How do you upgrade from Mac OS x 10.6.8 to Lion?

How do you upgrade from Mac OS x 10.6.8 to Lion?

First check to be sure your hardware meets the hardware requirements for Lion.
Backup your data. I suggest a bootable clone as the way to go.
Then open App Store and purchase and download the Lion installer.
    Then install Lion.

No. You cannot download Snow Leopard. You can only download an updater for Snow Leopard after it's been installed. You need to purchase the DVD to make that first installation of Snow Leopard.
