How do I upgrade to Quicktime Pro?

My MBP came installed with Quicktime v. 10, but I need to run Quicktime 7 Pro for a class project.  I've purchased the product, but I can't install it.
The directions state to go into my system folder and look for quicktime, but it's assuming I have Quicktime 7, which I do not.
How do I install this?

Once you've entered the information exactly as the email confirmation shows, close the registration window and shut down QT. To confirm it is now the pro version, launch QT again and choose QuickTime Player 7 > Registration. The same registration field will appear, but the icon at the left should now have the word Pro going across it, along with your registration name and code.

  • How do i upgrade to quicktime pro using lion

I am using LION operating system. I am trying to upgrade from quicktime to quicktime pro. I have already purchased the software and have my registration number but i can not figure out WHERE to use it? (meaning where do I input the registration number so that I can use the program)?

When you start QT 7 player, under the first menu there is a "Registration" menu item.
Enter your name and Registration code, THEN hit the TAB KEY. Do not click the "Buy..." button.
    That should do it.
Make sure you have the CORRECT version of QT 7:

how do I upgrade my Macbook pro to OS 10.7

You need to buy 10.7 Lion.. it costs you 29.99 . But, 10.8 Mountain Lion is releasing in this month. It costs you 19.99.
Apple has noted that users can upgrade to 10.8 directly from 10.6.x. So, I would suggest you to wait till 10.8 is released and buy it for 19.99 and do and upgrade

  • How can I upgrade my Mac Pro

    Hello,
I have a Mac Pro. Here are the specs :
    Mac OS X 10.5.8
    MacPro1,1
    NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT
When OS 10.6 came out, I found out that I couldn't upgrade to it because of my graphic card. In the technical specifications it is mentioned that :
    OpenCL
requires one of the following graphics cards or graphics processors:
NVIDIA GeForce 9400M, GeForce 9600M GT, GeForce 8600M GT, GeForce GT 120, GeForce GT 130, GeForce GTX 285, GeForce 8800 GT, GeForce 8800 GS, Quadro FX 4800, Quadro FX5600
    ATI Radeon 4850, Radeon 4870
Now, OS 10.5.8 is becoming more and more outdated. I would like to know how can I upgrade my Mac Pro ? What kind of graphic card can I put in ?
Thank you for any help and/or information !

It's been a while since I've used it but I installed Snow Leopard on my old Mac Pro 1,1 with the 7300GT and it worked. OpenCL may not have but the rest of it did. I don't think what you've quoted says you can't upgrade but only that an upgrade won't deliver all of the features in Snow Leopard. Indeed, I was able to move the HD in the 1,1 Mac Pro into the 5,1 Mac Pro, boot from it (10.6.4 is the minimum the 2010 Mac Pro will boot with), clone it and then updated it.

In most cases the problem is associated with a failure to follow the installation and activation instructions HERE. However, since you have not really described your problem, it is diffucult to know for sure. Suggest you read these instruction and see if they help. If not, then describe the problem in more detail since "cannot get the upgrade to kick in" could refere to anything from failure to press the "Tab" key to failure to enter a name salutation or suffix to purchasing a key for the wrong system.

  • XVID Avi's not working once upgraded to Quicktime Pro

This may be related to the post earlier this week.
I just upgraded to Quicktime Pro, and now most of my .avi files, which playedback fine before, just give me the white screen with no audio.
When I check the file format, it says:
    XVID, 624 x 352, Unknown MPEG Layer 3, Stereo, 48.000 kHz
My QT is the following: QuickTime™ Version 7.1.3, Player Version 7.0.1, which I believe is the most up to date version.
I looked at the solution for the pervious post about this, but if the files worked before, is this a simple codec issue, where I just need to re-aqcuire a codec?
    Thanks any & all,
    dh

Upgrading to Pro doesn't add or subtract any files from the installed version of QuickTime. It merely activates the Pro features.
Did you upgrade from version 6 to version 7? That would remove and add files.
Find and install the XVID codec appropriate for your machine.

Nothing. You need to download the QuickTime 7 player and apply the code there.

Upgrade Paths to Snow Leopard, Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion or Mavericks from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard — Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service — this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
Upgrading to Mountain Lion or Mavericks
To upgrade to Mountain Lion or Mavericks you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion or Mavericks (Free) from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion — System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) —
                 Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
    Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table — RoaringApps.

How do I upgrade my Logic Pro to Logic Pro X ?

If you bought it on the Mac App Store there are terms and information on how to contact Apple.  Though I know few companies where a purchase 5-6+ months prior to a new release qualifies for a "free upgrade," but you're always welcome to try.

I have a serial number for PE10 (I downloaded the software).  How do I upgrade to Premiere pro?

I do not think that Premiere Elements qualifies as an upgrade for Premiere Pro
For CS6 go to the second page at http://www.adobe.com/products/catalog/cs6._sl_id-contentfilter_sl_catalog_sl_software_sl_c reativesuite6.html?promoid=KFPMZ
When you click to buy, change from full to upgrade and then see what is listed as an upgrade qualifier
For the newer Cloud version, I don't think there IS an upgrade, only a Cloud subscription

QuickTime X seems to be the future development for Apple and it has features not found in version 7.
Likewise, QuickTime Player 7 with the "Pro" license has a lot of features not (yet) available in QuickTime X. Most notable are the extensive export options, movie property editor, & "old school" window style with easy to set in & out timeline points that don't block the image.
But because it is a 32 bit application it is much slower for some things than QT X, most notably playback of HD movie content.
So I use QT 7 for editing & exporting and QT X for playback-only stuff.

  • Upgrading to Quicktime Pro

I bought a registration code from apple.com to upgrade to Quicktime Pro, and even though the system preferences says that I have a registered quicktime pro in my computer, I still can not download videos from Safari and save them to my desktop. • Quick time upgrade to quicktime pro

i have quicktime 7 and i bought final cut pro hd,it came with quicktime pro and its serial #, and code,im tryng to download or upgrade to qt pro to convert my home movies to put in my ipod, how do i do it

You can confirm your "Pro" status by opening the QuickTime Preference Pane. Click the "Register" tab and be sure it says QuickTime 7 Pro under your registration serial.
If the Registration fields are blank you need to re-install FCP. It should automatically update your QT registration. I don't think (like previous version of Final Cut) it ships with a "printed" serial number.
