How do i upgrade to version 10.3?
Hi,
I have not upgraded for a long time - im still on OS X v10.04 on my MAC G4.
So how do i upgrade to version 10.3 now?
I have looked in many places and cant find how to do it.

first of all: WELCOME TO THE DISCUSSIONS!
In addition to Kappy's advice, be aware that you will have to Erase&Install since 10.3 cannot directly upgrade 10.0.x. Before you do that make sure you have a complete backup of your hard disk! You should also reinstall OS 9 first and only after you can boot into OS 9 without problems install 10.3 Panther.

Just received a new Ipad Air, but IOS version is older than current IPad...can not load backup...How do I upgrade IOS version?
In order to upgrade the new Air 2, I had to select "set up as new" from the menu. So, after the IOS upgrade is done, how do I "restore" the data that is backed up on icloud from my old Ipad? I don't see a menu item for that . . .

How do I upgrade to version 4.2.1?
I have discovered that 1) The ipod I bought is 2nd Gen and 2) It will not support an upgrade higher than version 4.2.1. I also know that is not the latest version available but it is the latest one available that is compatible with this ipod. This ipod is now sporting version 2.2. How do I upgrade it to 4.2.1 so it is at least a little more current?

Actually, your update wasn't successful, or at least, it wasn't complete. The tool responsible for the boot loader screen is plymouth and the version comes from the /etc/system-release file. If the content of that file isn't "Oracle Linux Server release 6.6", then your update hasn't updated oraclelinux-release to the latest version.
However, if that file is correct, it means that plymouth hasn't updated the initrd properly during the upgrade. You can manually trigger a rebuild of the initrd by running:
# plymouth-set-default-theme text --rebuild-initrd
And it'll rebuild it for you. However, I've never seen a complete update (via yum update) that hasn't rebuilt this properly. Did you perhaps only do a security-related update using the yum-security plugin? -

if you have an Aperture 3 upgrade key, you will need all previous serial numbers (Aperture 1, your upgrade key) to unlock the trial again.
I recommend to make sure you have a working backup of your complete system, before you upgrade. Does Aperture 1 still run? Then also create a vault of your library and repair your library, like recommended.
Run the installer, it will give you Aperture 3.1, then immediately upgrade to the current Aperture version with Software update. If you could not repair your Aperture library while still on Aperture 1, do it, when you launch Aperture 3 the first time. Hold down the ⌥⌘ key combination, while double clicking Aperture to launch into the Library First Aid panel. Select "Rebuild database" from the panel.

you will lose your all music you did not buy it in the iTunes Store. The rest can be copied to the new computer by using "transfer purchases" from the File menu in iTunes.
Disable autosync in iTunes on the new computer before you connect, set up your account, authorize in the Store menu and set up at least one contact and event on the new computer, to be able to merge data after your device got erased during the first sync.
After transferring your purchases, back up manually by using "backup" from the same menu.

After your device got wiped during the sync process, restore from that backup again.
It may be useful to create an own user account on the computer, to be sure the content from your ipod will have it's own iTunes library. -

I downloaded Numbers and Pages a couple of months ago and today got an update message but when I try to update these 2 Apps I get a pop up message that they are not compatible with this device (iPad 2 wi-fi +3G) says I need to have iOS 5. Can I upgrade to iOS 5 and can I do it on the iPad or do I have to go a PC and download it and then sync it etc etc etc.? What a pain this convoluted method of going elsewhere to download.
You'll need a computer. Just plug in and tell iTunes to update the OS on your iPad.

I have a 2009 MacBook that apparently can run Mountain Lion. When I bought it, it was running leopard(10.5) wthout the appstore.
I called apple and they said that the only way to get to mountain lion is to go through snow leopard so they sent me the CD.
The CD that they sent me was 10.6.3, but, I need to upgrade to 10.6.8 to have the app store. I found an upgrade but it says I need 10.6.7

If you open an older library, Aperture should prompt you to upgrade the library. However, you aren't seeing that? Can you post a screen shot of what Aperture is telling you? The window should be interactive (I.e., "Yes," upgrade my library; or "Cancel," do not), but your question doesn't imply that Aperture is asking you anything.
You cannot upgrade an Aperture library without Aperture.
What type of file system is the external drive on which your older libraries are stored? If it's not a Mac OS file system, you probably cannot have Aperture use it.
