How do I upload a movie from a dvd to my computer?

I am trying to load a dvd video up to my computer so that I can then transfer it to my ereader. I can't seem to figure out how to get the video onto my macbook pro.

i have recorded a movie i made on a blank DVD. i was told i could insert the DVD and import and edit it if i needed. i was told the computer would notice a difference between a Copyrighted DVD (ex: a movie like Titanic) and a home made DVD (like a project of a movie made by me)
is there anyway i can import it from the DVD to the computer to edit it???

You'll loose quality if you opt to import from a DVD but some claim to have had some success with mpeg streamclip and also:

Hii! I have been using Itunes for 3 months and it just came to me that I want to put a movie that I have on DVD on my ipod. I know that i have to put it in my Itunes first but how do you put your movie in my itunes library?? I have been in all tutorials that I could find but they don't tell me how to do this.

Actually, what you want to do is illegal in the US (and probably Canada too) since it requires breaking the copyright protection on DVDs. As such, even discussion of methods is prohibited by the [terms of use of this site|http://discussions.apple.com/help.jspa]
A DVD wouldn't play in itunes anyway since it isn't a supported format.

How do I upload / sync movie from iPhoto to iPhone in Photos folder

I shot a short clip from my digital camera and want to share it with family through Whatsapp on my iPhone 3GS.
I downloaded the movie (.AVI extension) to iPhoto on my Macbook Pro, saved a copy on the Desktop; and using Quicktime's export feature, was able to transfer a .m4v version of the video on the 'Videos' folder of iOS. However, since Whatsapp picks up content only from the 'Photos' app, I was looking for a mechanism through which the video (preferably .AVI format) can be transfered to the 'Photos' app.
Additionally, I created a separate album on iPhoto containing just this clip. Next I tried to sync this album to my iPhone with the 'include videos' checkbox ticked, but it does not copy the video to Photos on iPhone (tried doing the same with some photos and it is working just fine).
Request if someone can provide an easy solution for this.

BTW, have done a basic search on the articles existing in the forums to try and find an answer before posting my question. Mostly have seen many nays on older / archived posts, and hence am posting afresh once again in the hope that with the newer versions of iPhoto / iTunes, something has hopefully changed that will make my task easy! <fingers crossed>

Because when you sync a video that you have converted, it will want to go in the Videos app. A way to get around that is to email the video to yourself if the video size is small enough to send through email. Once you have received it you should be able to save it to your Camera Roll and then be able to access like you normally would.

You would need to go to the computer containing the book.
Select the saved book in the Collection panel.
Go to Grid View [ G ] and select all the images [Cmd/Ctrl][A]
File>Export as Catalog and store on media you can use to transfer
Bring this catalog onto your computer
File>Import from another catalog and bring the transitory catalog into your master catalog.
It should bring the images, your collections (including your book) and other settings into your own catalog.

I'm trying to redeem my digital copies by inserting the disk and entering in my code, but I keep getting an error message that says "An error occurred while copying "*movie* from the DVD to your computer- the required disk cannot be found"

I don't know what is going on, I have tried this with several movies as we got a few for Christmas and I keep getting the same error message- I will admit that my MAC is a couple of years old, so I wonder if it is a hardware problem with my disk drive- the error message has a smaller type message saying to check the DVD for dirt or damage and try it again, but the disks are all brand new with nothing on them at all- I have already experienced trying to get a digital copy when it has expired (stupid movie companies) and they wouldnt' let me redeem it, I worry that I will have the same problem if I wait too long to get these movies...

I have a Sony DCR-DVD92 that uses the mini DVD's for recording. There is no firewire or USB port on this camera. Since the iMac can't run the mini DVD's how can I transfer the movies from my Handycam to my computer?

If you can, buy a better camera. This camera was not designed for use with a computer or with editing.

If these were movies purchased from the iTunes store, they are already in iCloud and can be redownloaded again in many countries for free as long as the movie is still available and the studio allows it. It should be around 7 and a half gigs. In iTunes, across the bottom there should be a bar that show how much storage is being used and by what. (music, movies, apps, etc.) To make music take up less room, you can check the box to make it convert the music to 128kbps AAC. This lowers the quality, but with most earbuds and speakers, you can't even tell the difference.
The iPod touch has parental controls built in. You'll find them in Settings. I think they only work for enabling/disabling Safari, Mail, YouTube, and App Store. Here's an app that does more: http://www.mobicip.com/online_safety/ipod_touch
